    Awesome video! I'm noticing that the lighter is more effective on fabrics that are more artificial, like poly or poly blended materials. This is because the lighter melts all the little plastic fibers, which curl up and contract. By contrast, the lighter doesn't work well for natural fabrics, like cotton, because those fabrics brun rather than melt-- the little fibers turn to ash, rather than melting and contacting, which doesn't seal up the frayed edge. Thanks for the very through comparison!

      Thanks! I've never used Wilcom because it is so much more expensive than Hatch. I've also never found a good explanation as to what the difference between the two programs is. @@re-l-insan both programs are made by wilcom. hatch is a "more basic" version, with less settings and a few options are missing in comparison to e4. as an example you can say in both programs how far the inset of the underlay should be. e4 allows you to input your on inset-value while hatch only says "far", "normal" etc. Also e4 allows you to buy addons so you could use special embroidery machines for chenille or sequin. both programs are awesome, but hatch is the better option if you dont want to spend multiple thousands of dollars/euros.

    I love your simple yet precise process. I feel more confident to make patches. Explaining the materials is a big part of this process. Like that you float the fabric, I too think it's a waste to use more. Q: Why did you choose tear away instead of cut away.?

    • @lashleycreations
      @lashleycreations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cut away really only needs to be used on non-woven materials, like shirts and sweaters. Since the patch is very sturdy, tear away is fine and the stitches will remain in tact once the stabilizer is removed

    Is there a reason why folks don't do a rough, quick cut around the patch before doing the iron on adhesive and then the closer more exact cut after? The two videos I have watched from others also have them cutting carefully around the patch before and after adhesive. Just curious as I have not tried this before.

    • @lashleycreations
      @lashleycreations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When I'm making a bunch of patches at once I actually prefer to apply the iron on backing to the patches before I cut them, then do the exact cut after. I should have mentioned that in this video but forgot since I was just making one patch. Good call out!

    The actual tutorial is helpful but you should actually understand the controversy around ai before you promote it. You completely misrepresented the problems people have with it and the tip you gave to make sure it wasnt copied doesnt take care of the actual problem. AI pulls data from copywrited works from large and small artists to train the algorithm. No part of mid journey is trained without using the artwork of real artists who put hours of time and experience into their artwork. It steals the art from real people and grinds it up in an algorithm to make a collage of theft. Thats the real problem people have with AI image generation. And its certainly not art. The definition of art is the expression or application of HUMAN creative skill and imagination. Its image generation ising art theft. Not real art

    I've been using denim from.worn out jeans. Many parts of the jeans still have good fabric. I have to cover the edges completely otherwise fraying shows.

      I’ve found that denim tends to stretch a little too much for good embroidery when I’ve used it. I’ve tried the older denim without the spandex and the newer denim , neither one came out as well as different fabrics. I have tried to use a spray starch to keep it from stretching but it seems to get sticky on the needle. Any suggestions, as I have lots of denim and it’s good to recycle. Also often free when using old jeans!

      Have you tried iron on interfacing? ItI often use one with a bit of fleece to give the patch more body and dimension.

      I have embroidered regular denim (not the spandex denim) and it didn’t stretch when I used the Pellon SF101 fusible interfacing. 😊
