I have zero interest in Rolex … the brand is nothing beyond status chasing nonsense. I do value high quality mechanical timepieces & that’s where the sister company - Tudor does a great job. Omega, Breitling, Panerai, & even some of the TAG lineup are in that sweet spot for me.

The Rolex hype is just that.. overpriced.. WAYYYY overpriced! I I just went to my Omega Dealer and picked up the new Seamaster Moon watch (white face) $8K and it blows the Rolex Daytona 'Panda' ($30K or more) out of the water! Rolex copied or tried to copy Omega's Seamaster and it looks horrible side by side... As the saying goes, "Don't believe the hype"!
And we wonder why the market is being worryingly flooded with imitations that are becoming more and more difficult to distinguish from the real thing. Buyer beware.
My watch was purchased 2 years ago from MAMACOO and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.
Yeah, I was on the wait list for a Polar dial Explorer II at my local AD. It had been over 3 years. I got a call from them one day and told them I got tired of waiting, I bought a Mustang instead. I one hundred percent made the right choice. To hell with Rolex and their games. And I'm not going grey market because I don't pay over retail for anything.
Porsche is going down this same Rolex douche road. Now Porsche dealerships want a reach around for the privilege of spending hard earned cash on their vehicles. Any special spec models, forget it, you need to have a couple regular purchases now. Consumers need to take matters into their own hands, stop buying these brands. Ford, Chevy, and other big truck makers are now feeling the squeeze with tons of surplus. Why? Because they were trying to sell 50k trucks for 110k at dealers and manufacturers did not step up to reign dealers in. Now they are both eating poop, trucks sitting on lots like cabbage. Capitalism is a two way street.
I will gladly wait for my No-Date Sub. If and when the call comes in, I will buy it. You don’t buy a Volkswagen if you really wanted a Mercedes (no offense to VW or Tudor). Just my opinion
Sometimes the practice of being forced to wait for something can be good for you. While a 15 year waitlist for a Daytona isn’t exactly what I’m talking about, I waited a few months for a Datejust and have no regrets. Definitely wouldn’t prefer to have opted for a “comparable” Tudor.
i really waned rolex when i could not buy it but now that it is available for sale in ADs, i do not want it. it sums up luxury markets from this sentence.
I had the exact same experience. When I wasn't able to get the date just 41, I wanted it so badly. The other day I went into the A.D. and they had one available and it was anti-climactic since it was so achievable. Human nature is a pain in the ass…

I cant see this being a good business model for Rolex. My AD lost their Rolex dealership, they still have Tudor. I have my Rolex Milgauss and I am pretty much done with Rolex.
I wanted a Rolex Explorer, granted not the most sought after Rolex, and I was quoted an ETA of "within half a year". I was willing to wait that, but I bought a Tudor Ranger instead. I couldn't stomach the price of an Explorer in the end.
That’s exactly why if I want a Rolex I’m just gonna go to the gray market pay $3000 above retail and get a watch of my choice with boxing papers brand new. It’s so strange how the gray market is able to get brand new Rolex.
@@DavidRC-m9w pretty much. wonder why there's a thousand of a watch available that aD's get a few of a year? cause they get a few dozen and sell them to the grey dealer for msrp then that grey dealer sells it to another at 10% markup, who then sells to another dealer at 10% and so on until it gets listed for us normies at the grey dealers inflated prices.
I believe the green waffle a King Turtle is the perfect watch. It has awesome specs, great lume, and is comfortable. It is my favourite watch.
