Mega haul, nice work
Nice! Almost as good as ogling Salma Hayek👍
🤣
Absolutely fantastic video, very informative and I'll definitely watch this another couple of times and order a few bits that you've suggested. Thank you!
Thanks alot mate. And glad you found it helpful 👍🎣
Hey Ash, love your videos and the way you explain things. Just watching you on lure battle and I wondered what net handle you're using? I'm in the market for a long telescopic handle like that. Tom
Thanks alot mate appreciate it. That's the gunki ready street net, very good quality net and handle can't recommend it enough. There's a new one coming out aswell
Great video. Could you do video showing the rods and reels you use . Cheers
Thanks mate. Yes that is a video iv got lined up with a selection of rods and reels i use from entry level up to high end. So there should be something for everyone. Bare with me tho as it may be a few weeks yet.
Very interesting, Thanks Ash. I'm going to tie my leaders like that tomorrow, it looks like it gives a lot more freedom of movement to the jighead, better presentation🤜🏼🤛🏼
No worries mate. It definitely does give the jig head a more free movement
@Ashcostaangling it worked very well! I'm definitely using this now! Thanks Ash🤜🏼🤛🏼
Very interesting video, well thought out and really good sequence. One question , when using the wire trace without out snaps/swivels how to you tie the ire direct to the fluro or braid? thanks...
Thanks alot mate. I tie a loop in the end of the trace and tie the flurocarbon to the loop. Hope that helps mate
@@Ashcostaangling Thanks for that, I've always been worried about the wire cutting through the fluro or braid.
Awesome content 👌🏻 Keep it coming mate
Thanks alot mate
😮💨🔥🎣
Beauty mate! 🔥🎣
That's a huge' Perch... that hump!😮
It's an absolute unit! 😮
Very informative, never been a fan of the ned although i have had some good success using it. Always wanted to upscale to large lures for pike but haven't yet tried.
The ned is abit marmite. It's a very slow technique but some days when the fish are really not having it the ned can be deadly
Fantastic perch🎣👍
Major fish absolute tank fair play ash
Another cracking perch 👍🎣
Cracking fish Ash, happy new year 👍
Thanks alot mate happy new year 🎣
Happy new year Ash and thanks for giving us something decent to watch! 👍
Thanks alot mate. Happy new year
Just wanted to say thanks for another really informative post. Watched a lot of your stuff over the past few days and it is great content with loads of really useful and practical info. How about a vfdeo about using scents on lures? You are a Jedi of the Perch fishing world……thanks and again
Thanks alot mate really appreciate the positive feedback. Scent is on the agenda for a video coming up hopfully in the next few weeks 👍🎣
Thanks for the tips mate brought ned rigs recently and looking to get into a lot of info here to help so thanks
No worries mate hope it helps 👍🎣
@@Ashcostaangling it will do, you have given and understanding of the techniques. Keep up the great work
Stunning fish, happy new year. Hoping I can learn enough to catch a few like that in 2025
Thanks alot mate happy new year 🎣
Nice perch . That's a dream catch right there 😊
Absolute tank! Well done mate 🫡
Another great topic,I agree with everything you said,I use mono especially in summer to slow the fall rate of my lures, like you I fish around weed,I fish AFW wire in pretty much the same way for much the same reasons, the only real difference is I use barbless hooks for everything even crank baits,I change the trebles out to singles, keep the videos coming,I'm looking forward to your views on braid versus fluro as main lines brilliant
Thanks alot mate. The barbless / barbed debate is probably another topic il cover at some point as I think there's alot of pros and cons to both. Il get that video up over the next few weeks hopfully. Mainlines is quite abig topic
Great video. This help me Cheers
Do you use the same knot when you tie direct to flurocarbon?
No mate i use the alberto knot I will do a video on the knots I use soon.
Great info as usual Ash. I’m with you on fluoro leader length, go long, but I start off with it as same length of my rod and that way I can judge near side margin depths quite easily when the water is coloured. Do you ever consider barbless if there’s plenty of pike about? Best of luck with Lure Battle. It would please me to see you and Thom at the final 👍
Thanks alot mate. Personally I use barbed Hooks only i think barbless hooks actually do more damage as they can slip and tear the fishes mouth more. Barbed Hooks tend to stay in.
@@Ashcostaangling Yes, good point. Tight lines 👍
Great video again Ash 👍 would be great to see a tutorial on retrieves for certain methods, lure types and water temps you hear so many people talking about the importance of the retrieve but i dont think ive ever seen anybody do a video on it
Thanks alot mate appreciate it. What i tend to do with retrieves or atleast how I like to retrieve the lure on certain methods is talk about that in videos dedicated to a specific technique. Any video iv put out so far on a method Iv covered atleast a few different retrieves in them. Is there any method in particular your looking at?
Well said sir. Water I know held decent pike and big perch, word got out and fluro killed all the pike. Had one perch anglers tell me no pike had ever been there! That's people for you, say what suits their agenda.
It's a very sensitive subject, personally I think on single hook baits once the pressure is released on the point of the hook ( if a pike bites you off ) 9 times out of 10 the hook will fall out pretty quickly. Alot of fish i catch on single hook baits once iv netted the fish as soon as the pressure is released quite often the hooks come out in the net. The issue is fluro being used straight to the lure on things like crank baits that could cause an issue with the pike shedding the hooks.
Very informative and interesting looking forward to your fluro main line video when using braid you will always put fluro between braid and wire ? Be interesting to know what knots you use
Il get a video up on the knots i use mate soon. The only leader knot i use is the alberto knot i wrap up 5 times then come down 3 times. Like I said tho il get a video up of the knots i use soon.
Thanks ash could you run through your two roaming setups and thought process you seem to favour spinning set ups
Great videos and info. Are you aware of anywhere to get Gunki products in the U.S.? Thanks!!
Thanks mate. And I don't im afraid but predator tackle here in the UK ship world wide. Well worth having alook on there website they stock nearly the full Gunki range.
@Ashcostaangling Thanks so much! Super glad I found the channel. Will definitely be spreading the word over here!!
@@lfod79thanks alot mate appreciate it
Good stuff, cheers
just off up the canal and usually use Flourocarbon. Just a quick question on the length of the wire trace. Do you make them that small for real or were they just short for demo purposes?Definitely need to get me some of the AFW though. Gets expensive buying ready made traces.
It really does vary mate i would probably say 12inches would be my average on lures under 10cm. Anything over that I would probably go to 18inch. On finesse techniques tho I have gone down to as short as 8inch without issue. 12inch tho in my opinion is a good starting point.
I really enjoyed this Ash & always find your videos really helpful. I’m fishing braid onto the Gunki ice and same wire, but was good seeing that other knot as I was using a figure of 8 loop both ends. Was nice seeing you get through the first round of the Lure Battle as well👍 All the best & I look forward to seeing more of these tanks you catch in the New Year! 😄🎣
Thanks alot mate appreciate that and the positive feedback. Happy new year and hope you bag a PB in 2025! 👍🎣🍻
I was only thinking bout this last night, awesome 👍🏻
Nice one, thanks for this. Been waiting 🙂
Thaks for the no BS imfo,Ta.
👍👍
How come I'm the only one to give this a like?
Loving the background music. Watched episode 1 of lure battle last night, well done ash
Thanks alot mate 👍🎣
Great video. Which Peps You use on 5g Gunki Tiny Boomer, 3 inch or longer?
Thanks mate. On the 5g Boomer i use the 7cm Peps. I use the 9 and 12cm on the bigger boomers.
Illex pepper range look absolutely stunning 😮
If you want a high end rod mate despite the price they really are amazing. They were my first really high end rod.
You know when someone knows what they’re talking about . Subscribed:)
Appreciate that mate thanks.
Wouldnt mind a few lessons got all the gear but yet to catch a perch had a lot of jacks but cany get the perch
If you ever fancy a day mate I do tutorial sessions just drop me a message and we can sort something
i feel ya pain, I am pretty sure i am just fishing waters that do not have the decent perch in them. 7-8 short 3 hour sessions for 1 fish. it was a good un for where I am fishing. Just got to believe and stick with it I guess.
Great informative video. Amazing knowledge being shared
Hi Ant do you do guided perch lure fishing trips ?
I do mate. But it's more around the tutorial side as you can never garenty a big fish and I wouldn't want someone to be disappointed if they didn't catch abig one.
What leader do you on your ned rigs especially 5cm shrimp
On my neds 99% of the time I'm using flurocarbon as a mainline straight through. I use seaguar 4lb 0.16 reel soft. If pike are an issue tho there are times il add a short AFW trace in the 6.6lb but that's only if the pike are really fired up and the perch aren't having it
Great video, very informative and I always like it when a sponsored angler doesn’t just plug his sponsor’s gear 👍🏻
Thanks mate. I think in reality there's no brand out there that does everything. And I think it adds abit more integrity if you can be open and honest about the kit you do use. We do some amazing lures but not all of them are suited to Ned fishing.
Great video. Very informative with detailed explanations. I’m relatively new to lure fishing and content like this just helps set me up for my next session.
Thanks alot mate. Pleased your enjoying the content.
Brilliant listen mate that was. Any possibility in doing one about fishing a specific venue type like a river? but have a huge section of the river severn to target but I'm unsure how these techniques transfer over to moving water. Cheers
Thanks alot mate. Ye it's somthing i can cover in up coming videos. In a flowing river I would look for the slacks as the fish should move into them especially if you have any rain water coming through. It is worth a few casts in the main flow tho casting upstream and letting the current bring the lure back to you, all you really need to do is take up the slack. By casting upstream you get a much better presentation.
