She’s lucky this happened hundreds of years ago when people still knew how to do things and provide for themselves with what nature had to offer. If this happened to someone nowadays 99% of us would die. In fact, many of us would even intentionally offer ourselves after a few weeksof being alone. If I ever get stranded on a deserted island, I hope it at least has a Dollar General.

After 18 years alone on an Island she would have had ZERO immunity to bugs and bacteria from other people. I guess this all happened before we understood the immune system. That's what truly killed her - actually bringing her back to the mainland killed her. What a tragedy. This is why the remaining uncontacted tribes kill visitors at first sight, because any contact with outside humans can kill the entire tribe. An immune system cannot exist in isolation, it needs germs to literally keep being an immune system.

Why did she need to make a makeshift shelter? The entire tribe had not made any shelters? Use your thinking cap. There would have been several shelters if the entire tribe had been there previous to being taken away.

Well she was a Tribal Woman who spent her entire life on the island ? ( the island was her native home ) 18 years alone no human contact WAW ACE A BLESSING /

The irony.When she was on her own away from other humans and their lifestyles she survived bit when she came in contact with these she died.Are we subtly killing each other without the intent.😮

Strange that she had to build shelters considering it was a inhabited place and at least. before the disease and war etc place was well populated Must have had houses agriculture etc

New subscriber to your channel. I really enjoy true survival stories of any sort. I do ,however , get irritated with the Mountain Climber misadventures because they seem so self absorbed and seem to only be concerned with themselves and just saying they did Everest , Mount McKinley, etc etc. Seems like pilots are put at risk to drop them a survivor cable off a steep ledge and other Search and Rescue personnel that have to climb in horrid conditions to search for these fools that thought they had more skill and experience than they really actually did. The just irritate me with their self absorbed selfish thrill seeking attitudes. Does anyone else feel that way? Maybe it's just me . Thank you for the great story ! 200/300 people lived on the island ? Then why did she have to make a shelter ? Wasn't there plenty of places to live when everyone left ?

This story reminds me of The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman which I read as a child. I guess Polar exploration & aircraft are both quite risky, but people just cannot help by do it anyway. Thank you for sharing this video 🙏
