Boba Fett (Old, New and the Dirge)
Sometimes it's probably for the best when a theme gets changed and this one's fine with me. I was also going to add the theme from Book of Boba Fett but my work ethic moved on long ago.

So the stuff I need to do Star Wars music is finally installed but this is more MIDI practice for me. Breath and bow instruments are hard to simulate, especially solo strings and this piece has a wide variety of articulations to say the least. If the Scriabin stuff was a bit much for you, this will probably be worse. The harmony's based on tight chord clusters instead of the usual stuff.

Nice work! Glad somebody acknowledges Boba actually has a bit of a leitmotif in Empire, and it's not the one most people think of. That subtle, deep, kind of ominous sound is super good. They should've kept that around in my opinion, it would've been a nice little calling card to announce his presence.
Thanks! I think Rebels did it best, using both the Imperial themes throughout the show.
A trilha sonora do Incrivel Hulk 2008 é um dos pontos fortes.
definitely one of the best scores in the mcu
The score made me appreciate the movie more.
I miss “Driving with the top down”, it’s something not even Brian Tyler could replace imo
Means the Strangers name is REN
Grogu duels ahsoka.
That would've been harder to explain than Anakin.
Their joint theme almost sounds like some 90's grungy stuff. Silver Chair or something comes to mind.
Probably some of my favorite electric guitar in Star Wars even though the only other one I can think of atm is during that speeder chase in the beginning of AotC.
@@mrvoltar yeah, I did notice that back in the day and thought, hmm don't think I've ever noticed guitar before.
I like your midi fingers
Come here and pull my MIDI finger. It makes a tuba sound.
@@mrvoltar bwaaaaah
yeah having them in CW wouldv'e been cool
By the time I get to the fifth movement I should probably have this down. I will be doing Star Wars next though if you're a regular who's weirded-out by all this early twentieth century, East European chromatic-neo-primitivism. If I make it all the way to the Rite of Spring then this practice will make sense in a Star Wars context.
I think it’s entirely possible that plagueis and qimir are each founders of their own factions. Obviously plagueis is not the first Sith Lord, but quimir could easily be a precursor to the knights of ren. Ben solo seemed to be more of an emotional driven dark side user. Most Sith are just straight up ruthless.
I think if I were her I might put a couple weird things in just in case the second season doesn't happen so I could say, "I guess we'll never know," if someone asked.
@@mrvoltar as it turns out, we never will know. Lol
I am still waiting for the promised revelation of the reason why they showed us the Kylo Ren theme. I knew Qimir was a user of the dark side of the force, when I saw his mask and his red lightsaber, so? Anything else?
It seems most likely to me that it's either about his reaction to Luke or the creepy weird romance thing.
Reylo is not a „creepy weird romance thing“. But shipping Osha and Qimir is. Should that be the „connection“, it is a misuse of the theme, in my opinion.
@@officermurdoch4120 My bad for loaded language...Bad boy corrupts the good girl trope (inasmuch as Osha is a, "good girl.").
I really want an OST of this version of Kylo’s theme in the show
If the youtube channel DisneyMusicVEVO is legit, they may have that after tonight. It looks like the 1st half of the soundtrack is already out.
I completely missed that in my viewing. Cool.
Thanks for saying!
Qimir could be the founder of the Knights of Ren. He claimed that Jedi would call him a Sith, but he wants to form his own dark side cult by training Mae and other people
I kinda feel like both things might be true in his case but we'll see hopefully.
I really don’t hear any similarities
Recognizing melodies is weirdly hard to explain since, "higher," and, "lower," are the abstract terms used to describe what are actually faster and slower vibrations. The only thing I could recommend is to single out something that sounds peculiar or unique about the familiar and listen for it in the new. In this case it should be pretty easy since it's the exact same relative pitch content at almost the exact same pace but played in a different key. A lot of times composers will play melodies backwards or upside down or stretched out which can make it really hard even for professional musicians to hear.
It was also in the end credits of episode 6 of this series!
It seems he was about to heal her, but decided not to - was he afraid it would drain his life force (like Kylo’s) 🤔
Dunno, sith healing seems fishy to me but I guess we'll see.
I like that you show alot of things we don't know like the acolyte theory about the kylo ren theme and possibly knights if Ren origin.
I'm glad you got something out of it!
nice
Thanks. I think Barriss' is one of my new favorites. How do you pronounce, "Caio," btw?

Well, we never heard Qimirs last name...
lol, I know what you're implying but for a minute I thought, "Little Girl," would be funnier and creepier.
this note progression is nearly identical to the korriban theme from kotor 1
Yeah, the first 3 notes are the same pitches in both. it harmonized differently and does different stuff after that but it's enough to stand out for sure.
So glad I'm not the only one that noticed?
Or they are reusing shit like they always have hello
Hello.
So he's Smylo Ren? It's confirmed then.
Hey, is someone deleting my comments?
I can't speak for 'someone' but I'm not. Was there a link in it or something?:
Yes, not allowed? Link to other TH-cam video.
@@michellelabelle81 I think it auto blocks urls because of bots. If it's another TH-cam channel it'll let you put the @NAME of the channel I think. I just check to see if there were any held comments and didn't see any so if you put a url in then that's probably it.
maybe his name is ren ?
I thought I was just thinking about it too much. But I’m glad I m not the only one who noticed
I started talking about monophony and realized that the more I talk, the more I had to talk so I'm keeping this video simple. If you can tell the difference between Phillip Glass, Terry Riley, Steve Reich and John Adams then maybe this is enough for you to draw your own conclusions about the Kiners and minimalism.
means George Lucas needs to buy the rights back ASAP
I'm pretty sure that's unrelated but it would be kinda cool.😜
😂😂😂😂😂😂 hell no racist
@@seventycross0yt175 I get your irony but let's leave cable news on cable. Even if we're just being silly.
Maul also tried to reach and probably touch Obi-Wan with his right hand? Difference is that unlike other people he didn't manage to do it or stopped himself.
I like to think of that as his redemption meter. It unfortunately only goes half way.
Theory: he says "I am what you Jedi might call me....sith.." because he isn't actually a sith, because if he was a sith he would 100% know he's a sith and not openly admit it to the Jedi. he's just a dark side user only, perhaps the first Ren. But the reality is probably that the writers dont give a shit about established star wars lore and they pretend that this guy is supposed to be one of many from the ascension of the most powerful sith lords
lol, I've heard speculation that in the last episode the, "actual," sith show up and curb-stomp Qimir. If he weren't though that would really ruin the last 2 episode for me. I could see how using all the Zannah stuff from book 3 in legends on a character that exists this close to the movies is hard to reconcile but I think a lot of the legends stuff is better to hold onto in the language part of the brain and not the history part of the brain.
So I've mentioned I don't like doing the narration part of these videos and sometimes that gets in the way of explaining what I'm thinking; therefor, this. ...and yes. The title is a joke about the pluralization of purrgil.
underated
Everyone is talking about Kylos theme appearing, but nobody’s talking about the Kotor theme appearing in in ep 3.
I think I've heard it once in the last 20 years so I'll have to refresh my memory but I'll definitely check it out. Do you remember which part of the show? And I'm assuming you mean the title theme from KotOR?
@@mrvoltar it’s at the start where it says 16 years earlier, specifically at 1:24. It’s very short and subtle so it might just be a coincidence. And yes, the title theme.
@@Ethan_Chappell I'm kinda at the, "sprint to the end," part of a purrgil video so I'll check it out right after that.
True but come on, it's hard to when everyone wants to forget episode 3 😂
@@Ethan_Chappell I'd say it's close but not close enough to say for sure. Some people kind of hear the force theme there as well.
Interesting
We'll see!
This could mean Qimir is not a Sith but a Knight of Ren or the master of the knights of Ren during the era of the (late) High Republic.
Definitely. I'd even say both things are probably true. The libertarian free will stuff he was saying sounds like either group but it also sounds like every rebellion group in any era of Star Wars. 😉
He could still be a Sith and then eventually form the Knights of Ren.
@@gbozzi05_ Kinda seems the most likely answer.
Pretty sure that’s Clint’s motif, not Kate’s. You can hear both their motifs at once on the track “Give ‘em hell” during the ice rink fight
I think I remember (been a while) that theme and heard it as a mutual, "action," theme but I'll try to listen for that the next time I watch it.
The reason you got a GOTG vibe is that the opening of GOTG is an homage to the opening of Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones). Ahsoka was also doing an Indiana Jones homage (both Lucasfilm) hence the crossover
That makes sense
whoa cool
lol, the interviewer kinda blew past that answer but i wish more answers were that interestomg/
I made a whole video on Rey's theme being linked to Kylo and Palpatine too, it kinda went viral. it's titled "Hidden connection between Palpatine, Rey, and Kylo Ren themes"
As it turns out, that was one of the videos I watched to play catch-up. It probably would've made more sense to bring up Palpatine instead of Spider-Man but life is short and non-sequiturs are more oatmeal.
Maul did have a subtle theme in The Phantom Menace. It plays on woodwinds mostly. we hear it right when he appears as a hologram by Palpatine and again when he talks with Palpatine on coruscant "at last we will have revenge" etc.
I tried to hear something for him and thought it might be a percussion theme I couldn't hear it. Similarly, I know Boba Fett has a theme in the OT but I still can't hear it (unless it 's more than the 16th notes). I'll listen for something harmonic in that spot next time I see it.
not his theme officially, but its his theme in our hearts.
There is also "Kanans Mask" where variation of Duel of the fates was used
And Darth Maul Theme in Solo movie
Wouldn’t make sense for it to be mauls theme since it’s also used when Anakin is going to find his mom and when Yoda fights Palpatine
Great presentation of the analysis!
Thanks!
Thank you! Most people in the internet just call "Duel of the Fates" Darth Maul's theme when it's more the fate theme although I kinda get why people bring it up as Maul's theme. A small peace of the theme is also played in Attack of the clones when Anakin drive through the dune sea to save his mother from the sand people. That fits your explanation about Anakin's fate. Kevin Kiner gave Maul his own theme in Rebels.
Could you analyze Journey into the Star Cluster or Temple Collapses? Why do they seem so monumental
I think the Kiners were going through a minimalist phase during Rebels and there's a lot of Glass/Adams influence in there. In those 2 scenes, Filoni lets the Kiners tell the whole story and I think they're pretty good at it. I've thought about doing a video on some of the bigger incidental pieces of music so I'll definitely work those in.
i think that’s the motif from ‘thrawn’s true face’ that appears in rey’s theme…
5 points! Let me know when you figure out what they're for.
@@mrvoltar Do I correctly recognize the Game of Thrones theme at the end of the Thrawn's Web piece?
@@mrvoltarwoop woop!
The chords seem similar. There is something at the end of Attack of the Clones which sounds like it for a bit too.
It's also the same notes in the Star Wars main title just after the strings cantabile and just before the main theme/luke theme comes back in.
