Honestly? Kinda, yeah. I think Meta Runner and Alpha Beta's pilot are two very different things - If AB didn't take the serialised approach I wouldn't consider making that comparison, as they'd be telling two very different types of stories, but that's a lot harder to say with Season 1 being written the way it was. And honestly, yeah based off that one episode I wouldn't assume they were massive fans or anything, but there are a good handful of other's where they reference LOTR and it's author (The Big Fix being a good example). Maybe they even talk about it in their commentary tracks on some of the episodes, I may look into that if I find the time! -Jack

Before responding to this comment, I just want to say to anyone who is on-the-fence or might believe information about climate change: Please do proper research into trusted sources from scientists who know what they are talking about, and have studied for years to earn a degree that shows that they know what they are talking about. If you are wondering why the atmosphere is always changing, there is an answer to why and how it is still a bad thing and is getting worse. (It’s a bad thing because while yes, the earths climate is always changing, that doesn’t stop the fact that the earth is still getting hotter and hotter as more and more carbon dioxide is trapped within our atmosphere[1]. Link at the end of the comment to my sources) Please be informed by people who know what they are talking about. If you have a question, type it into Google and use trusted sources like NASA, which are government funded and therefore aren’t incentivised by monetary gains by "selling books or publishing papers in journals to keep relevant”. The information they discover is then fact checked by dozens of other trained scientists. They have been paid to find the facts, not to make a compelling story for internet clicks. With that said, I have a response for nearly everything in your comment. I agree that the episode it’s self isn’t a climate change denial argument, but I also never said that’s what the episode was about. I said that ‘ManBearPig’ was used as a fake creature to resemble climate change, which I believe to be true due to how they refer to him in both the original episode and in later episodes (Again, looking at Season 22’s “Time to Get Cereal” and “Nobody Got Cereal?” where they make that point a lot more obvious). I even say “I know the episode was mainly there to poke fun at Al Gore”. And on the line about them never denying climate change, I agree with that part - They never outwardly say it, but the impression that I and most other people on the internet got is that they felt that way. Ergo, ‘ManBearPig’ being seen as a fake problem in the titular episode, or MBP appearing in “imaginationland”, with the implication being that the issue is imaginary. Referring to your line about Al Gore’s documentary, I actually watched it recently! It’s why this comment is so late. Found a copy of it in a media store, and it was a super informative watch (If you’re reading this, I recommend giving it a watch too). I disagree about your opinion that it’s “fear mongering” though. Al Gore talks very calmly throughout the documentary and just informs the audience about the science and research done on the topic. He doesn’t say “WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE AHHHHHH” or anything along those lines. He shows footage of the outcomes of some extreme weather disasters, and how they link to climate change, but he presents it more as something to learn from than saying “THIS IS GOING TO BE YOUR FAMILY IN FOURTY-THREE DAYS”. While this is obviously up to personal opinion, I doubt his goal was to stoke fear into people as much as it was to inform people. However, I absolutely see where Matt and Trey were getting some of their jokes on Al Gore from - He does hype himself up a bit by mentioning all these big figures he knows, and mentions his failed presidency a good few times lmao. Still, a great documentary! I already mentioned above about good sources from real scientists and how they are incentivised to do real work, but your comment about “all predictions being 100% wrong” is factually incorrect. One example is from 2007 when scientists predicted that the amount of sea ice that covered the arctic sea would decrease substantially. Five years later in 2012, scientists had recorded that year that it had the lowest summer ice extent since recordings began in 1979, and since then have recorded less and less each year[2]. Another example is the prediction that more and more extreme weather events would occur due to the rising temperatures. Al Gore actually mentions this in the documentary, explaining how the oceans temperature caused an increase in hurricanes and set a record for tornados that year. If you dont want to watch or re-watch the documentary however, there’s a link down below from the website “Carbon Brief”, a highly trusted site for climate change information[3]. I dont think I need to tell you why brining up “Florida” right now as proof against climate change is a bad example. For the record, I want to clarify that this comment is in no way intended to be an attack on you. I appreciate the time you put into writing a comment on my video, and you mentioning why scientists say what they say and how that may be skewed by money made me do research into that exact topic and now I’ve learned a bit more from it! Yes. The voice actor behind Spunc has nothing to do with my opinion on the show's writing and dialogue. I'm sure Mr. Sark is a great guy in person, but the character he voices sucks. To me he's painfully unfunny and actively harms the story of the show, unlike Mr. Sark in both his own videos and Vanoss's where he usually lifts up the video; the dudes funny as hell. -Jack

Well, first off I'd give Spunc a purpose other than to act as a deus ex machina - Have his AI abilities work within the games they are in, but acting in line with his character, only effecting the game in slight ways that dont end up being that useful or maybe even go against Alpha Team, so the jokes work within the context of the situation. Could have a scene in the last episode where his powers do actually come in use as a bit of pay off from the jokes thus far. Second, the guy needs some redeeming qualities. I know him being annoying is kind of the point of the character, but that means they intentionally made a bad character. Your show should never have characters like that. Still have him be a bit awkward and stupid as he's an AI (could lean into him learning how to talk to humans as a sub-plot actually, that'd be cool) but basically just remove all the features that they put in to make him obnoxious. And finally- I'd change his name from Spunc to... literally anything else. I get that it's a comedy, and that name probably just doesn't make me laugh, but it's very hard to take the character seriously with a name like that. Alternatively I would just remove the character, as I feel like the core crew in the Pilot worked perfectly well, and I'd give Mr. Sark a one-off character like Nogla and Jordan Fisher got in episode 2 and 3 respectively. -Jack

Sorry it took so long to respond to this - I totally see how RWBY was their biggest show. Red Vs Blue may have put them on the map, but I see A LOT more people talking about RWBY nowadays. One of the nicest things to come out of Rooster Teeth's closure is to see some of the personalities branch off into their own little channels and podcasts and make whatever they want without restrictions - It's really sweet to see. And nah, I know all about Ray, and I see him pretty often on social media in some twitch clips! Super happy for that guy!

I don’t feel like that was the nail in the coffin for Rooster Teeth specifically - I’m assuming the crossover was due to WB wanting to make the most out of their IP’s, I admittedly couldn’t see Rooster Teeth themselves wanting to make a project like that. When I do review RWBY tho, that’s going to be a hellish few hours watching those crossovers
