You can challenge your thought by simply.. taking the intrusive thoughts and try to analyze it from an objective perspective.

Let me be crystal clear, I don’t care what background you have, what education or training you have.. I don’t care how many people you may know who have gone through these situations…. Until you, yourself, become suicidal… until you, yourself live in torment leading up to the act… until you, yourself attempt suicide, then please know you have no clue what a person goes through. That is not directed at this video only, it’s for the whole damn world. But I’ll go a step further… as a person that has been suicidal, while I can articulate my experience, I have no clue what the person next to me is experiencing while they’re suicidal. I can be a bit more empathetic, and we may share various aspects, but these are very personal, very deep situations. Most of which can’t be described verbally. I can say and share these facts because I’m 48 now, but my first suicide attempt was at age 15. It was the first of many. I have regained consciousness in the ER, in the critical care unit, in the intensive care unit and more times than not I’ll have an a member of law enforcement sitting outside my door. His one job is to ensure I don’t hurt myself or someone else. Those moments are quickly followed with being transferred to a psych hospital. I’ve been in some of the top rated facilities and I’ve been in the most horrific facilities that house all the throw-away folks who have no job, no money, no insurance. The bizarre part is that the care/meds/therapy given are about the same level of useless across the board. There are certainly people who attempt suicide for various reasons. But one situation above all else enrages me to the extent I want to reach through the screen and bitch-slap the people who say “think of your loved ones and friends who will be upset at your loss”. For those who use this particular idea…. Do you ever stop and THINK? Is there any brain function at play. Because if I’m suicidal, and you say to me “think of the sadness and hurt you’ll cause your family…. Committing suicide is flat out selfishness”. Think about this…. You are telling people they need to live in their tortured lives, their unending sadness, their private hopelessness in order to not hurt someone else’s feelings?! But the suicidal person is the selfish one? I often find that the people who judge are usually the ones who couldn’t be bothered when that person needed help. People don’t give a damn more often than not. So when that family member attempts suicide, they become crazily defensive. So be very careful how you address this subject and those who are in the moments currently. Act/think/choose in a way where the people watching the video are more important than the number of likes or views you get.
