Grow a UK TROPICAL JUNGLE GARDEN in just 5 YEARS!!!
How deeps the water and has it ever got to the 25 degrees it needs.
@@antnewbon2673 the water level sits just below the soil/seed. The water temperature sits quite happily in-between 25°-26°C with a 25w heater. As the plant grows it'll need a larger container until it'll go outside into the heater water lily pond. This is all new to me but seems to be working
Beautiful variety of your queen of the queen! I’m a Epiphyllum plant collector seller myself❤❤❤
They're fascinating plants aren't they. Do you think mine will be ok outside in a sheltered/dapple shady spot in the UK during summer months?
@ I posted a video in my TH-cam of my green house! You can see my layout of my Epiphyllums! The queen of the night leafs are very thin. So I personally don’t recommended it, unlesss you cover them.
@ I agree!!! These Epiphyllum’s are magnificent!!!!
@@Epiphyllumoasis thank you 😁 I'll take a look 🌴
@ you’re welcome!!!!
Glad it wasn't my back, and arms digging that deep hole😮. You will probably be sore!!
I took a small cutting off my MB in early Summer which was a few inches high, by September it was three feet high in a pot which is now in a cold greenhouse to be planted out. Amazing plants.
@@bloggalot4718 they're a crazy plant hey! It seems there's no stopping them 🌴
Thats going to be a great little pond! have you thought about a small solar pump for it for water movement? i love water features in gardens, i think it brings a certain something to the space, lol ive got 10 ponds of various sizes in my garden. and still working on the largest one.
Wow 10 ponds! This is my 4th but I’d like a mock stream too
@Ourgarden-podcast haha yeah been building ponds for years, but moved into my current garden about 4 years ago and wanted alot of water around the garden. 3 of them are pondless waterfalls 4 of them are small ponds slowly adding small waterfalls to each and lastly a very large rec pond meant for swimming, which consists of 2 large ponds one of them nearly 2m deep with a connected top pond and stream into a lower pond which then flows back into the large pond 🤔 lol it makes sense in my head 😂🤷♂️ i would highly recommend a stream build for your garden, ive found you can make some cool trickle streams that you can run a cheap solar pump on so no wires or anything. or if you can run a decent pump you could make a cool larger pondless stream. 🤔🤷♂️
Fantastic work. Is it a good time to split musa basjoo? I have a grove of 9 to split and replant into another area of the garden. Great the process and division. Thanks.
@@GardenMyselfHappy to be honest, I'd rather had moved them when the frosts were over and the ground was a tad warmer but we had no choice. They're so hardy, I doubt it will really make a difference when they're moved so long as the ground isn't frozen 🌴
@@Ourgarden-podcastthanks, I'll wait a few weeks, I'm in SW Wales so last frost date is technically may, but by the coast we don't get too much. Hopefully yours do great. And they all make it. Lovely group of plants.
@GardenMyselfHappy I think light frosts will be absolutely fine, just not temperatures where the ground literally freezes solid..again they'll probably be fine but if you can't wait a few weeks I really would. Yep, I don't blame him for taking them all with him. Would cost a small fortune to replace nowadays too. Fingers crossed 🌴
🫡👌👌👌👌keep us updated
@@DJSupaflyguy will do 😁🌴
@ be good to see if your 2 survive and Marks along with his next garden! 🫡
@@DJSupaflyguy I'll try and do a follow up in spring 🌴👍🏼
I'm a little subscriber. Well done lads!
My daughter moved house at the end of June last year and we had the same task with up rooting her huge clump of Musa basjoo,s , I was lucky enough to be given two descent 6 foot trunks plus a pup on one , I planted them in my garden soon as and they took producing several new very long leaves and looked fantastic . I have protected them over winter and they seem to be ok so far here in Doncaster so I,v no doubt you also will have the same results this year with yours , all the best to you
It's a bit of a mission hey 😂 I think we got enough rootball on each one to survive so fingers crossed they keep their height and give a good show this summer. Always worth giving it a go 🌴
@@Ourgarden-podcast pretty sure they'll be just fine you're down south so they have a better chance , good luck sent your way
❤😂😅😊🎉😂😢😅❤😊
Don't envy you moving that large Basjoo. I have done it here and their underground pseudostem is huge and heavy and a real pain in the back to dig out. Good luck!!!
They were super heavy! Hoping they don't die back this summer and keep some height..fingers crossed 🌴
RORY!!! YOUR ADORABLE ❤❤
IF YOU SAID THAT TO ME I WOULD BE SAW ANGRY BECAUSE IT IS MY BIRTHDAY IN JANURY:/
A loquat tree is evergreen and hardy. Quite easy to grow from seed with shiny ribbed leaves. Another plant worth trying is kniphophia northei.
@@bloggalot4718 I have two Loquats happily growing in the jungle area yep, they've been left out for the past three years. I'll check out the kniphophia you've mentioned though 😁💚
Yippie!! So ready for Spring!!
Good tip about same type of rock! Thanks
Works for me and the look I want in my garden..may not work for everyone though 🌴
Looking forward to seeing the progress on this
Should be able to do the second part this weekend.. weather permitting 😂🌴
Looks like a nice set up for it. Wishing you great luck growing it up!
Fingers crossed it'll be enough to get it going and into our poor British summer months 😂
They look super cool, never heard of that Genus.
@@CJDykes no me either. Super excited to get it sizing up. It's actually part of the araceae family so similar leaf shape to an Alocasia. Something different hey!
Looks like you will probably need to clean out fallen leaves each Autumn. That big Deciduous tree looks pretty close. I will tell you that most pond plants need at least 6 hours of full sun each day to be really happy! Nice multi-level liner!!
Good morning gents!! Have a great day in the garden!!
LMAO!!!😂
Congratulations Gardening Man, happy to help!!!
Sounds like amazing plans!! I love aquatic plants and gardens
@@CJDykes thank you. I'm really excited to get started with the aquatic plants this year. I'll finish off the waterfall and new staircase and then I'll be able to crack on with the water lily pond 😁🌴
@Ourgarden-podcast try some Lizard Tail, lovely plant with lovely white nodding head flower faceless. Also Pickerel Weed is a great plant if you like purple flowers, both are pollinator magnets
@CJDykes I was reading up on lizard tail yesterday actually as somebody locally is selling it. It reminded me of a runner bean leaf in the photo. I'll read up on Pickerel, thank you
Cheers will take a look

@@Ourgarden-podcast Excellent thankyou
@juwelkeeper No problem. Chris
Where did you get the lights ? , im looking for something like these . Keep up the good work love the channel .
@@juwelkeeper thanks, appreciate that. These were just an eBay/Amazon purchase. I think you can buy them in 10m strings for around £15-20
Great idea/progect that all along with being practical will enhance the jungle look , think you may need to move the loquat though as they grow quite big but beautiful . Was Hoping to send a photo of mine which is also on the bank of my jungle/exotic garden however dont know how . Cant wait to see if when finished , really enjoy watching your jungle garden evolve and progress ❤
@@sallystanfield3078 thank you 🙂 yes I agree, the loquat will definitely need to be moved. There's a much larger one just yards from it anyway, so I may well move this into a part of the garden that gets lots more light. The Phormium and loquat haven't been there long so the roots shouldn't be too difficult to dig up and avoid causing too much upset 🌴
@Ourgarden-podcast I have moved some well established phormium,s in the past with no problem,s , even dug one up because I thought I,d lost it to the bad winter if 2010 , my daughter took it for her garden and it re grew vigorously .
@@sallystanfield3078 they're pretty bombproof hey. Now, to find a place for it...🤔 Got too many plants being overwintered, I need to stop buying more haha
Are you twins?
@@pamelapearce8702 fortunately not no 😂 just very similar
They are lovely climbers , gorgeously scented flowers twice a year plus evergreen foliage . I have one around 17 years now and it's grown right to the top of and covering a tree , quite a show when in flower .
They're beautiful aren't they and one of, if not the first thing to flower for me in the garden. They suit so many garden styles too. I bought another one yesterday for the backdrop of my new tropical water lily pond I'm building..they're a bit pricey now though 😕
@Ourgarden-podcast I,l have to take extra special care of mine then as last year wood pidgins,s decided to nest in mine all season , nightmare .
Looks great!
Thank you 😊💚
