where can i get her book via pdf?
I just sent a message to the author so she can respond to you. Thank you for your interest.
Rene, is it Reneready.com. ?
This was a superb interview. Rene is my amazing sister in law. Her journey into and out of, and living with her brain injury has been frustrating and cathartic. People look the same, but they are not the same with a brain injury. We must remember to be tolerant and kind.
Very good information. We are struggling with our 25 year old son who received his TBI May 23, 2022. He will not accept treatment or his condition. We continue to try and aid him but progress is slow and very worrisome. It’s awful and hurtful to see him struggle and sabotage himself so much, when we know he could thrive if he gave treatments/therapy etc a chance.
Thanks for sharing. Rob, I cannot sleep either. Glad to finally hear someone else say it too.
It seems so hard to get the brain to shut off when I go to bed. I am always tired until I try to sleep.
I had to continue my comment- yes, damage has been done! Yes, I am disregulated again! Why is it so easy to self bully. So well put. The only "constant" except now we HAVE changed, right? Since the TBI? Great guest, Rob. Thanks guys.
Hey, you guys said many things that spoke to me-overdoing when you happen to feel a little better, trying to live our old lives. I shut down with overstimulation too. Ugh. It is great to know I am not alone. Grieving and letting go or you keep looking....wow.
Love this so much! Ur so fun Rob! It was such a pleasure having you on The Be Awesome Network!
i’m jealous! good job rob
Hi how are you doing this is great
Thank you Amber and Rob. Great discussion. You touched on so many things I need to remember. I recently bought the book at Battenkill Books and I look forward to reading it.
Just glad Ashley is back!!! Welcome back!
Thank you.
A great example for how important educating the general public about brain injury is! I have her book and recommend it! Only through education can we understand brain injury and all other non visible issues we humans have! Being vulnerable is very difficult for us all! 0:48 thanks for sharing and bringing insight into traumatic brain injuries!
Thank you Alan. If you ever have any suggestions on topics or know of anyone we should feature. Please let us know.
❤❤
Loved how Amber said about family members...what aren't you getting. You live with me.
Amber and Rob are certainly warriors for all you both have gone though.
Just like the TBI support group I facilitate.. "by survivors.. for survivors!!"..
I can relate to a lot of this!!.. Therapy and Meds help me control the "TBI HULK!!"..
Awesome ❤️❤️❤️
Rob, what a fun surprise to stumble on this video. It was beautiful. Thank you for sharing your song with the world. Donna O'Donnell Figurski, author of Prisoners Without Bars: a caregiver's tale
Thank you so much Donna. I did this as a favor to my Aunt. I’m glad you liked it. ❤
The doctors office clock, drives me insane! Excellent job guys, very descriptive with the details.
A lot of truth to this... TBI... You only know it if you live it...
Awesome information. I read somewhere that anger’s other name is grief.
My favorite “have you seen my bra😂😂😂”
God bless encourager
I have heard of EMDR...
@@RoadRunnergarage8570 i have several tbi survivor experience videos in a tbi playlist on my channel. I hope they can be helpful for you 🫂❤️🩹🧠🫂
@@RoadRunnergarage8570 emdr coupled with IFS is a beautiful recipe for healing trauma
More model car building issues feeding my TBI anger.. UGH!!
Love this podcast❤❤❤ You guys are full of wisdom about living with brain injury.
I went from saying I don’t feel right to I don’t belong in this world anymore 🤟💚
Ooooo do I hear that!! I am grateful you stayed. You do belong, we just live in a different dimension. They can live in their world, we can live in ours lol. 🫂❤️🩹🧠🫂
I have been there... TBI... You only know it if you live it...
Thank you for this conversation! I’m 2+ years out from my TBI and can relate so hard to all of this, especially the conversation about doctors not listening/prescribing meds that just double your symptoms. So frustrating, especially when you’re already low on energy and capacity! Looking forward to part 2!
Thank you so much for saying this @sksimonds It is so wonderful to know that people relate to what we are talking about. It's so frustrating that most Doctors rush you in and out of an appointment and never take time to get to the root of the problem.
Thanm you for the kind words. You can also see some of my TBI survivor experience videos on my channel in a TBI playlist I put together. I hope its helpful 🫂🧠❤️🩹🫂
@@VulnerablyLalli I just subscribed and look forward to checking those out. Thank you for sharing your experience!
@@sksimonds you are most welcome. Its my honor to help others through this. Its way to daunting and hopeless for many. 🫂🧠❤️🩹🫂
Sometimes I am my own worst enemy as well....
I have been accused of using my TBI as a crutch....
I’m hoping you just keep improving. I’ve seen your channel and you do good work. I hope this video helps, even if in a small way.
Thanks!!
Trying to manage a model that was supposed to be easy to build but is proven to be otherwise... UGH!!.. so PERFECT TIMING!!
found your content on facebook, your videos help me so much whenever I need a pick me up! my 3 TBIS were from drinking.. i'm an empath too.. and to become apathetic, yes that's something i've felt too.. loss of joy... wow you've gone to the other side.. I did too, with my first TBI.. I saw my body being taken away from a stretcher, it was if I was floating above.. a memory of mine that I know is from the beyond.. i'm sorry about your TBI experiences, however they have made you the person you are today, which is so motivating.. when you talk about dissociation and accountability on compassion, the rage, how it impacts your family.. i love how you surrendered.. you are resting.. i'm trying to do exactly the same with my current circumstances. i'm glad that you took the time off!
Thank you for your comment. We are so glad that you are enjoying the content we are putting out. We are trying hard to be a voice for everyone, so letting us know that you appreciate this makes me so happy to know that our efforts are not in vain. Thank you so much :)
This is a great video. This is why I asked to join the support group, which is awesome. But, I would change the name to something like "this is my new daily life" or something better worded. I've shared this with a few family and friends and they all say they understand better now what I go thru. Thank you.
Thank you so much. My hopes in doing this video was more geared towards family who discount our symptoms or think we are faking it. I’m so glad this video helped
Although my experience as a caregiver is very different, I can relate to so much of this, including my son receiving treatment from Boston Children's Hospital.
TBI.... The invidible disability....
I don't do well with crowds either....
TBI.... You only know it if you live it....
I think there a few takeaways people can get from this. There are complexities. A lot of people assume brain injury means one thing, and that's "human vegetable". It's either that or it's not legit. It's probably not easy sharing personal details and challenges either because people judge. But I guess people judge everything, so who cares
Nailed it on all accounts. Tv and movies do a big injustice to what a brain injury is. People only know what they hear and see, so we also can’t totally blame them for their lack of understanding.
Great podcast. Congratulations on your daughters successes..and yours. I like when you talked about being human because I'm pretty hard on myself when I get it wrong. Thank you.
First
Sometimes we need to step back and take a break from what we love. It’s ok to step away. What isn’t working right now could very well be a chance to branch out and do greater things. Don’t give up your dreams though. Take a break and allow yourself to heal. Down the road dive back in slowly and see what happens.
I am feeling it right now... I feel like I am not good at anything because I cannot build modek cars anymore... Sad😢...
Well I finally gave up on building model cars because of my TBI and I don't enjoy it anymore...😢 Sad...
May god be with you honey .May god heal you.Prayers for you 🙏.
Thank you brave warrior for sharing your story 🫂🧠❤️🩹🫂
