Cave men learned to make fire .they seen lighting start a fire or a volcano so then they found what they could use to ignite dry tender leaves grass sticks so on

Honestly very interesting to see someone do this by hand. Really gives insight on how much time people must have spent back then, just to make their tools they would do other work woth

My first wrought iron hammer 2weeks ago went fine, and welded very smoothly. It weights about 750g and is the 4th forgewelding project i have done. So i got brave and have now attempted a 1.7kg hammer. I think it went fine, but the weld line is rather visible and runs like a little 1mm creek instead of fusing all the way out. Im kinda somewhat sure the weld is ok, because i did alot of forging to shape on it afterward without it coming apart. I recon there is alot of gut feeling involved in doing welds and it only comes with experience. If just it would make a computer game lvl up sound "diiing" when the weld sets :)

I make these exactly the same way. We have a lot of these here in Italy, dating from the end of the 7th c bC onward. Really cheap and affordable tools.

Once the bloom is excavated from the bloomery, there's not much chance of reheating it. They are working against the clock to get the metal forged into something usable.
