Love this video, inspiring, not sure why it has so few views! Well constructed. It was further encouragement for me to sign up, and I recently soloed.
Glad I found you on UTube as a member in Canada nice contact so convenient. Im a retired Certification Aero Eng in ottawa and retired from flying. How ever I think I would like a flight some time and think of going to US and flying in FAR 103 type aircraft, no licence required for pilot or aircraft. Any interest in this type of aircraft in My native home Melbourne Australia
Thanks to RAAus and everyone that made the effort for this great series ❤
Excellent content in this video. It should be recommended for all pilots.
Thankyou to everyone for taking the time and effort to make this very informative and interesting series.
Thank you for the informative video(s)
Watching the second of the series, and just want to say Thank you for sharing and producing such material.
Fabulous and enlightening series. Thank you for your time and effort to produce these videos.
Thanks for the series. So much insight
This is great for students thank you so much
The real issue here is plane drivers are not being taught properly, just enuf to complete the syllabus! The speedo and the skid ball is all you need to sustain flight!
Thanks for the informative presentation, I was reassured to know AMSA would task SAR through PNG, as I operated there too
Great video, thanks, but sad to see gambling sponsorship on her jumper. Cheers.
Awesome presentation. As a learner RA Auz pilot I got a lot out of it. And has given me some valuable tips and information going forward in my training. Thank you.
Thanks for the video, this should be shown to all new pilots and old as it shows that even the experienced instructors can mess it up as well. I'm a glider pilot in training and then moving onto ra-Aus training after completion so this was a good thing to watch
Thanks Jeremy for a well explained lesson!
😎👍

Thanks for doing this series. I've found it very useful.
Being honest and learning from mistakes will make any operation safer for the future - thanks to all for your honesty and positive attitude to safety.
Excellent production. Well done.
You can easily determine the stall angle attack of any aircraft at any time. First, with your instructor and at safe altitude, determine your planes "stall stick position" as your plane will stall reliable and repeatedly at precisely that exact same aft stick position every time without fail. It matters not the speed, weight or even the slip of the aircraft. The stall angle will always be the same and always at the same stick position. EVERY pilot that has ever stalled an aircraft did so because they pulled the stick too far aft and into the stall stick position. How this is not common knowledge amongst all pilots is beyond me. This I would say is singularly the important thing I learned during my flight training. Even today many years later when flying low and slow or turning to final, at all times I stay in tune and aware of how close the stick is getting to my belly button! Thanks to instructors Gerard Lapin and Dave Wheatland at the Latrobe Valley circa 2006.
Here's another video of an accident involving loss of control on takeoff: th-cam.com/video/CDB2A90eoK4/w-d-xo.html
Thankyou RAAus for the food for thought
Much better than first episode; presented awareness toward stick position and fatal outcomes... 11% proficiency?? At least somebody said it; that is concerning... After experiencing all things mentioned in this episode and more during URT was left totally stunned after the first spin experience and instantly appalled at certain institutions ideas that spin training and recovery is "unsafe" and not required in basic training for GA GFA and RaAus... How's that been working out so far for all you guys?? Thankfully I had the awareness to know my pilot skills and abilities had a massive hole that needed immediate attention; unfortunately many do not; they're all in the graveyard now... if spin entry recovery is made a mandatory part of basic training 30% more pilots will be going home for dinner... tuff $&@# if its scary; fly the plane or find another less scary thing to do... wishing this series delivers desired results...
Spin training is very much part of GFA training, plus Its part of flight reviews in GFA
Excellent informative video.
Very good production. Great addition to pilots everywhere
Nice production. Thanks for the video. It is the start of very important and very helpful conversations.
Great video. And as a new pilot it was very helpful. Thank you
Thank you Bob for your many many years of dedication. As an aspiring 73 yo trainee pilot your career, commitment and love of flying is a serious motivator for me. Thanks for extending your expertise into the RAAus field. May you enjoy many more years in the sky. Up up and away!! Adrian (& Colleen), Canberra
I was a theory student in Bob's CPL theory class some 30 years ago (1992 ish) in the back classroom at Royal Queensland Aero Club. Sadly I never worked commercially as a pilot, but Bob's classes were without doubt the highlight of my flying education. He has a unique way of teaching aviation theory delivering content in a practical and entertaining way. And as he made reference to in his intro, his "inter-course" parties were as legendary as he is. Many thanks Bob for those memories.
I got my RAAus licence at Murwillumbah many years ago, then did a GA conversion at ‘Cooly’, so Bob Tait was a big part of my life for a long time. I met him once up at Archerfield and what a wonderful bloke he was. Thankyou Bob. Legend!
Well Done Darren, this was very informative!
Ozrunways and Avplan should share traffic data. RAA should mandate them to do so. Avplan is happy to share traffic data.
What a nice guy!
I really want to get my ppl but the closest flight school to me is over 3 hours away and i don't know if it even does private pilot training
Thank you gentlemen and particularly the two nominees for your time voicing your views and plans. Clearly two well qualified and stable candidates. Best luck to each on the upcoming election.
The Raaus friendly airports program sounded like a great idea.
Organisations must get money for pushing little girls in everything perceived as being male "dominated".
Funny watching faces of instructors glimpsing over ASI when Bob doing sideslips :) Bob should put the sticker on speedo and teach them to forget "inertia" and fly the attitude !
Wow. That was awesome. Bob is an amazing person who has done so much for the industry. Well done on putting this together.
It was more of an Raaus advertisement and informercial than a film dedicated to the great man that Bob is and the work he's done in aviation. It was a good film but I would've loved to hear and see more of his life.
This was like teaching a Doctor to be a nurse. There was no "conversion" here, just a check ride in a light (not ultra) aircraft..
I truly enjoyed watching his story. I did not know Bob Tait but now I think I do. Well done!
Ermmm, no grass strip on the left at Redcliffe in the ERSA ...
Did you know there are aerodromes that you can land and they are not in Ersa at all? Bob was clearly within markers and by the look of existing trails, the grass was in serviceable and in use. Suggest reading Caap 92-1.
Bob Tait - complete legend - thank you for all your sage answers online to all those nutjob aviation theory questions!!!
Congratulations on an inspiring and moving tribute to Bob, and thank you to RAAus for creating this film.
I loved how natural the instructors HASEL check was. Nicely done.
One could only dream of having the experiences and influence this man has had on so many, thanks for making this short film to recognise a true pilot & thorough gentleman. RAA - 011098.
This man is a national treasure
