The Lost Sheep Art Series - My Summer 2024 Daily Painting Challenge in Windsor, Ontario
The Lost Sheep Art Series was my daily painting challenge this summer 2024! I created 40 landscape paintings of South Windsor in 40 days, inspired by the real-life lost sheep nearby E.C. Row Expressway. Each piece features a hidden sheep to find, like a visual Easter egg hunt!

Baby Portrait with a Daffodil 🌼 - Digital Painting Time-Lapse
มุมมอง 1913 ปีที่แล้ว
This painting took about 12 hours to complete. You can see some changes I made throughout the painting process, such as deciding to switch from a rectangular frame to an oval shape to cut out superfluous detail. My TH-cam followers will be happy to know that I managed the whole painting this time without using the ink-dropper on the original photo and instead did all the colour selecting myself...
Castle Landscape Paint Study in Photoshop with Process Commentary
มุมมอง 2463 ปีที่แล้ว
Thank you for watching my video! Update from August 2021: I realize that in this video, it is technically incorrect to use 2-point perspective here, because we are looking slightly down at the building from above. I can tell this because the photo reference shows some of the roof of the castle, and the horizon line in the distance is above the castle on the picture plane. I just wanted to admit...
Painting Fern Fiddleheads in Photoshop 🌿

This is a digital painting I completed back in July 2020 of a young fern leaf before it uncoiled into a frond. Hope you enjoy seeing the painting process. 8 Tips for a Fresh Perspective on Your Art
The one thing that has really confused me during the 250 challenge is the relationship between the 3 vanishing points. Specifically between the pair of horizon sharing vp's and the lone vp. Especially when the box is rotated so that It makes its own horizon line. I'm not at the point where I can articulate how it confuses me, but like what's up with that?
amazing video
Great vid, thanks!
the most helpful video
This is a wonderful demonstration and explanation. Thank you. I've only just started Drawabox and can now draw a straight line and draw it point to point which is very exciting.
Awesome! Thank you for this!
love your thoughts about this!
Thanks for this very good video, i still cant wrap my head around it, but im still starting out and have hope ! I just watch your video a couple of times and it might click.
Literally nothing I haven't heard before, and yet when presented with such a charming presentation I felt like it made it click. If nothing else, my understanding has solidified. Thank you for this video!
awesome channel
Thank you for the video! It really helped some stuff click for me! :D
Just a reminder; this video is pure gold. Thank you!
Thank you very much for the video. The see through cube and real life examples were great!
John Wilson influence here
This is the best explanation i've ever seen on drawing boxes, thank you so much i was so stuck with the challenge!!
this is incredible. very well explained. Ive watched many videos to understand perspective, but a lot of points that you explain here tend to fall between the cracks. answers all the questions i had & in such an engaging way too! thank you.
this video was super engaging! really loved all the editing and real world visualizations. well done!
This is one of the best videos i've seen
The laser technique is what will determine the armature of the box. Yet the centre axis of yxz of the centre of the box will be the only true centre from which one can control the true position and subsequent rotation of the box. Just find the central point and the axis connecting it to the planes from the inside out instead of outside in and adjust the perspective... Every knowledge pours out of that foundational understanding...
Please, you gotta make more art tutorials like this. Especially about perspective. They’re so helpful! PLEASE IM BEGGING 😭
thank you
Love your art! Keep up the great work. Nostalgic seeing my old neighbourhood.
Thanks Anteo! Great seeing you again and meeting Lydia at the gallery 😊
Why does it seem that everyone progresses so quickly but me…
Very helpful, thank you!
THIS IS AMAZING, I've never been this excited to start drawing boxes before lol
For real, what even is this video🥲 Its so well explained and detailed, you are amzing thank you
this feels like how to with john wilson
Nice Job! I have been a fan of Leyendecker for 40+ years. I have a massive ephemeral collection of his published work in addition to original paintings. Contact me if you have an interest in doing some commission work of some other Leyendecker works.
This is a brilliant way of explaining boxes. There are so many deep concepts in here, it is breathtaking. And the presentation is top notch. The three basic types of boxes and the fact that front facing boxes are one point, edge facing are two, and corner facing are three point will revolutionize how I conceive of representing space. Thank you so much for the effort you put into this video! The organization of the ideas and the loopy number of perfect examples makes huge ideas obvious. You are helping thousands of people past roadblocks that very few teachers know how to guide students around. Bravo!
this really is such a nice down-to earth video. The real life examples and charming narration really make it feel like more of a "art is for everyone" vibe instead of the very dedicated art school grindset vibe :D
Well, that was obvious - and yet I hadn't seen it! Just knowing that someone obviously so intelligent has found learning perspective hard is hugely helpful. I have been struggling to understand perspective for about five years now so I can illustrate some written work. I actually started with the misnamed Norling book shown here. I progressed onto many others. As soon as I thought I had grasped it, I sat down at the blank canvas and it dispersed like a dream on waking. I too took some boxes and photographed them but failed to see what was going on because they were static images. Your glass box videos have been an inspiration to me. I have only just discovered Drawabox and I am going to hope that this will finally give me an intuitive understanding of what I need to do. Thank you so much for making this video., you have a real genius for making the impossible seem simple.
Loved your explanation ❤
you just saved my life op, so many videos and exercises an this is the first one that made it all click. Also perspective made easy should be compulsory reading for every artist. thank you nd keep going
cool intro lol
thanks for this, it made me understand perspective easier!!!
so many things I just knew in my head, but didnt think twice, but once I actually thought about those key points you made while sketching, things got much easier!
THANK YOU SO SO SO SO SO SO (input infinite sos here) MUCH. This helped so much, and it made drawing boxes less borning.
THE UNDERPAINTING!!!! i never thought about doing that digitally how smart
Thanks very helpful
'How to with John Wilson' meets an art tutorial. Great work
Basically it is cutting a 2d square to the angle the cube is oriented as
Perfect explanation, thanks! One thing I find hard to understand is how vanishing points move when the box moves to a corner facing position.
lol you take it more seriously than Drawbox ..great work
epic material - thank you for putting so much effort into this! 🎉
I can see the john wilson influence! you do it so well ! hahaha
I am geometrically and mathmatically impaired and this helped so much;__<<;
Great video! Very informative! May I ask what tool you used to analyze these colors?
Big John Wilson energy.
wow! You are the holy grail of over-view educators!!! I love how you used the word "You" instead of "I" to connect the viewwer with the concept in a working way. I love the real-life examples you provided, and the way you've organized your video.
That's what I was thinking. I haven't heard second person narration in a very long time.
Amazing helpful content.
