I have enjoyed my fishing for many years.
From offshore Tuna and Deep water species like Blue Eye Cod, to snapper fishing in the shallower reefs.
Land based fishing off the rocks and beaches up and down our beautiful coastline for Drummer, Tailor, Bream and Mulloway to Estuary fishing for Mulloway, Bream, Flathead, Squid and many other popular species.
I have been trout fishing for Rainbows and Browns in the cold waters of Jindabyne to Murray Cod and Native fresh water species in our many pristine inland lakes.
However, my passion is fishing for snapper off the NSW coastline. I will admit that I suffer from sea sickness at times which can be a real drag.
Every day I am willing to learn new things because I don't believe anyone can claim they know everything.
Recently I thought, why not take my Gopro and record my adventures, so one day I can look back and be thankful that I had the opportunity to go fishing.

Was it a shark attack? Offshore Snapper fishing at Long Reef Sydney
Today we are on the beautiful Quintrex Trident with Jad and Johnny. Our target location is Long Reef, Sydney and we are fishing the broken reef along the 60m mark. Our target species is Snapper. There is something special about catching snapper off sydney and on this trip the snapper didn't disappoint.
Tell us in the comments what you think the mystery predator that attacked Johnny's fish was?

Do you know where you can buy the little cushions that are at the back of the boat?
Hey mate Sorry I wouldn't know.
Nice catch!!!
Thanks
Hi mate what boat catch do you have fitted to your trailer?
Hey mate. The brand is L&R from memory
Thanks mate I fitted one yesterday hopefully will try it on the weekend 👍
What size baitrunners are you using with mono???
Sorry for the late reply The older style Shimano 4500
Yeah, there’s about 52 Thursdays a year, & Kurnell, who knew that was a headland. Definitely a bite, sink dragging through a weed isn’t a bite.
What boat ramp is it? How does this boat right compared to your Formosa?
Bellambi boat ramp. The boat we were on is a south wind and being fibreglass has a completely different feel to the formosa as Plate Aluminium boat.
Ah is back at it again
Amazing Fishing Videos my friend subscribe to my channel thank you so much ❤❤❤
thank you. I have subscribed to your channel.
Hi mate. What is ferry wharf name?
Hi Mate This was at Balmain east ferry wharf

Sorry guys but I found that a little disappointing. I liked the magic trick at the end though. Nice catch. Shame you didn't record them coming over the gunnels
Sorry about that George. I got sea sick on that day and couldn't man the camera. It was one of my first videos. I will make sure based on your feedback that all fish will be filmed coming over the gunnels. thanks mate

@@fishingactiontv ok thanks
When i watch a video all the way though i will give a like but you need to lift your game the only time we got a real glimps of the fish was when you were buggering off home' no comment not realy showing the fish as they were being caught, have a look at Spikes fishing and follow Mels lead on how to put together an informitive and fun video.
Thanks for your feedback Chris much appreciated.

@@HB-oe4dg Thanks H B
yeahhh the fuzzzz dropping the tools for a rod!
Hooked up via lure or bait ????
both. float lining with bait and soft plastics. Some on anchor and others on the drift. Mostly 30 to 60m.
Fancy way to catch bait boys.
Bollywood production :)
More like sardine fishing 😁
You must be stupid, there are plenty of signs around about the pollution in parra and the Harbour. There was a pesticide company in Homebush bay that produced Agent orange for the Vietnam war. Once it was over, they dumped 1000 X 44 gallon drums in Homebush bay. Those drums have slowly rusted out and been leaking since the mid 70’s. There was a company dredging and burning the silt in Homebush bay. The workers had to have blood tests every 2 weeks. Get that screefood into you mate.
Nice work, and you just got pre approved on an FB channel you submit too, should make life easier.
Thank you
Just subbed to your channel too 🤘
Thank you so much for your support
Awesome to watch people fishing in the best harbour ever, love our backyard indeed 👍🤘
Nice video mate i hope to see more squiding videos in the future 👍 the red head jig always produces in the harbour for me as well
Hi Mike. Thanks mate. I will definitely be doing more squiding videos. Would you prefer land based or from the boat?
@@fishingactiontvno problems👍 i mostly fish land base but i just love squid fishing in general id appreciate either video
I will definitely do more squid videos
Hi mate, where can I get those croaming rod holders?
Hi JT, I purchased those on Ebay. Here is the link to the ebay seller. www.ebay.com.au/itm/253869707368
@@fishingactiontv are they screwed on? If it is now do you avoid corrosion in particular if you are using stainless steel because it does play nice with alloy. Thanks
@@JT-jy2sy After drilling the holes, I coated the drilled holes with some paint. Then I applied duralac to the the stainless bolts where they will make contact. I used nylon washers before the nut as an extra level of seperation. i placed a sheet of eva foam between the coaming rack and the side pocket as further separation and to reduce vibration. Please share your thoughts on this. hope this helps.
@@fishingactiontv hi, I am trying to figure out how you screw mount this. There is not a vertical flat sheet with mount holes. I would appreciate it if you could please give me some photos. Thanks
Hi Mate Sorry for the delay. Will you be mounting them in the same location? I used 100mm bolts. You need to drill holes through the rod holder and through the side pocket on the boat. I will try to take some close up pics for you
Will you do a boat review on this Formosa boat? There is only one good review on TH-cam by adv hq but that was the old one. Monthly fishing did a review but it is more like an ads.
Hi Jack, Thanks for the interest. When i have a chance I will do a review on my boat and the modifications I made..
What is a safe swell for a boat like this in your opinion?
Hi Jack The swell height is not the main issue. The biggest factor is the period between swells and wind chop. A slow rolling 2m swell is ok for example without wind chop. It really comes down to whether the conditions are fishable or not. Hope this helps
Do you know what is the BMT weight? Thanks
Hi Jack I dint know the BMT weight but the dry hull weight is around 700kg and with.motor and trailer I would assume it would be between 1 and 1.5 tonne.
Could you tell me the year of the boat. She looks good. Were they ever made with full fibreglass stringers?
Hi Mate It's a 1999 model. The stringers are timber. Even until today whittley still use timber stringers.
Nice video, whats the boat?
Thanks. It's a Formosa SRT 520 Centre Console.
How does this boat compare to your Formosa 520 in terms of ride and stability at rest?
Hi Jack. Being a fibreglass boat it is a completely different feeling than the formosa in terms of ride and stability. Hands down the best riding 5.5m cabin boat i have been in. However the formosa is exceptional for a centre console aluminium plate boat. It slices nicely and is very stable at rest. Like all centre consoles though, you get a bit wet on those cross winds.
@@fishingactiontv is alloy boat easier to maintenance compare to fibreglass?
@@JT-jy2sy both have their pros and cons. Aluminium is easier to maintain, however they have corrosion issues and harder to repair dents. Fibreglass is stronger and easier to repair, however you need to keep the gelcoat in good condition by regular polishing. Hope this helps.
Which part of the mid coast is this?
Hey Abdul. Harrington coast.
Nice boat😁
Thanks 😁
Awesome video nice boat.
Thank you. It's an awesome boat.
@@fishingactiontv My wife and kids wants a boat I said no don't want to know the maintenance costs🤣😂
Hey bud are you happy with the Formosa? Do you have any problems with that high mounted live bait tank?
Hey Patrick. I haven't had any major issues. It used to leak a bit, so i add extra seal around the opening. It would be better if it was mounted lower, however that would kill the extra storage space I have in the transom and you can't have enough dry storage space in a centre console. It's just a pain when I'm bait fishing and keeping livies together. So I'm thinking of removing the existing bait board and replacing it with three sections, so I don't mess everything up when opening the lid to get the livies.
Yep I wondered about that. Everything with boats is a compromise!
The most informative fishing video I have ever watched. Wow this is what snapper look like on the sounder. RELEALY.
Thanks Martin, I'm still getting a hang of recording my fishing trips, but i'm enjoying it and trying to improve the content. On this day, the snapper were showing on the sounder, however they were not really on the bite. Long reef is tough at the best of times. In deeper water that is how they look on my 1kw narrow beam transducer. As soon as we went over them, I landed the 50cm fish. I have some upcoming trips up the coast and hopefully will bring back some nice footage.
love the boat.
it's a beast
Looked choppy out there
it was choppy and very windy.
Love the baby stabi
Nice my man love the video
What time is it mate? what time do you think the best to squiding in Syd Wharf?
Hi Adi, I arrived around 9pm and stayed until around 12am, only due to when I could get there. Night is best, however just be mindful of the Ferries. The best times would be around tide changes and I found that around the slack tide is pretty good. But with squid, there are no rules. I will make a video soon on some of the techniques that have worked for me, but I'm always learning and most importantly having fun.
Hey! Do you have have any tips for squid fishing in the harbour?
Hi, I will release a video soon on this. Most harbour ferry wharfs fish similarly. Small jigs seem to work best and natural colours work well at night, and always have a black jig in your tackle box. Some times I cast between the light and shadow line and other times just drop the jig to the bottom. Then slow lifts of the rod until I feel weight on the rod. It is important once you hook up to keep tension on the line. others might have different techniques, but hope this helps.
