A few hours before snow hit to end the upper mountain season, a full descent of the Big Mountain Trail. The Tram was down due to high winds so I had the mountain to myself. In 2020, Snowbird wasn't taking bikers to the top so you had to climb to the top to ride it down.

This represents my morning pretty well.

Handmade sledding luge in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah. It takes a good effort and many hours to maintain the track. The creator, Karl Meltzer uses it as off-season training for his typical Ultrarunning career. Many friends and some strangers have helped work on and have enjoyed this track. Stay safe and have fun.

The avalanche starts in the upper left and by the time it gets to the skier (between the bush and tree), it envelops him. The avalanche picked up speed at the bottom and emptied into a gully with more skiers very close to the path. This skier was alone and skiing a run that had cracking and whoomping in it. The Speedgoat 50k is one of the most difficult 50k's on the planet. It includes almost constant steep inclines or declines, rocky terrain, a section outfitted with ropes due to the steepness, and almost 12,000 feet of elevation gain and corresponding decline. Karl Meltzer is the race director and he doesn't make it easy!
