Just one comment about bank cards, I've seen in another video of a guy from US, he was able to get card of Tinkoff bank. As I understand it's just 2-3 days to get it. And you even don't need to go to bank, everything is done online, and a courier would bring it to you. Not an ad of some specific bank. Just an advice for the future trips

Мы не улыбаемся потому что у нас такой менталитет. Наш регион очень холодный и от того, как хорошо ты будешь работать летом, зависит твоё выживание зимой. По сути просто не было времени на такие формальности как улыбка. Кст из-за этого же у нас оч интересная продуктивность, знаете как говорят "русские 30 минут читали правила и сделали всё за 5 минут). Это действительно так. Всё-таки зима у нас длинная и никогда нет гарантии, что твои посевы не умрут (как например на 9 мая выпал снег, оч много растений погибло). Понжтому мы долго сидим (пережидаем зиму) и затем начинаем работу на максимальных скоростях (максимально всё сделать пока идёт лето). Также мы очень много воевали и между собой и на нас нападали, в своё время было оч много вторжений на нашу землю. Что также привило нам некую настороженность по отношению к незнакомцам со стороны. Нам нужно время, чтобы узнать лучше вас и ваши намерения. По сути эти вещи заложены в нашем культурном коде, потому что эти трудности длились веками. Такой код есть во все регионах (например в южной америке ребяна вщ не напряжные, у них и тепло и еда на дереве. Так что жизнь особо проблеи не приносит. В Европпе улыбка как символ доброжелательности тоже из-за ваших постоянных войн, что выработало привычку сразу показывать свё положительное отношение к собеседнику. Пошли мы по разным путям потому что в Европе террирорий относительно мало и вам самим приходилось вторгаться чтобв нормально жить, в то время как у нас было много пространства и вторгались в основном к нам.) На счёт традиционных ценностей могу сказать так. Во перввх очень сильно влияет религия. Ведь Россия стала "приемницей" Византии и сейчас по сути является центром христианского правослания (хоть и целая куча других, юольшинство всё-таки православные, даже меня кристиои в младенчестве), у нас и герб перенят был от Византии. Также тут сыграла роль и демография. В 90-ые и наверно 00-ые со всем этим было сильно проще, однако после распада союза демография сильно упала и вроде у нас сейчас даже смертность превышает рождаемость. Из-за чего стране тупо не выгодно поддерживать вещи, которые приведут к ещё большему снижению рождаемости. Ну а дальше уже понеслась машина пропаганды с обеих сторон, да и глядя на происходяшее на Западе как-то уже и не кажется что мы не правы. Хотя я думаю что помя запрещать не стоит, всё-таки вдруг у человека действительно так сложилась жизнь. Ещё хотелось бы отметить, что у нас работают карты, существует собственная система МИР и наличкой мы почти не пользуемся. Это как с нашей поисковой системой Яндекс, в то время как в остальном мире по большей части предпочитают Гугл. А вообще за последние года Россия сильно изменилась. Я кореная москвичка и по сравнению с детством, город вообще не узнать, я помню настолько он был раздолбаный. Но это относится не только к столице. Мои предки родом из маленькой деревни (не более 50 человек) и летом я там отдыхаю. Так за последние года нам полностью переделали и проложили новую дорогу, провели свет (всм уличные столбы), запустили машину-магазин которая приезжает несколько раз а неделю, если у кого-то нет возможности добраться хотя бы до ближайшего посёлка. И так со всеми городами, в которых я была в детстве и сейчас и соответственно могу сравнить.

Nothing happened because nobody cares if you’re in America in Russia. I know this because I was living in Moscow when the war started.

I love Moscow very much, as well as St. Petersburg, and there's also a few decent cities like Yekaterinburg and Kazan. But the rest of Russia is a total disaster. With mud which replaces the streets like 30 years ago, with cult of force, alcohol. In any provincial town people live in traditions of thugs, most of them use jail slang in everyday life. And family traditions are poor if you look at the divorce statistics, which are the worst in Europe and maybe in the entire world. Moscow is really safe if you forget that the worst criminals in Russia are the authorities. We cross the road to the opposite side if we see a police patrol walking. If you go to a pub in any 20k populated town, you'll have 90% chance of being hardly beaten. I a regional center of Chita there are huge districts which are covered with garbage and shit, as there's no canalization and trash processing, and they don't have toilets at home. And it's not an exception at all, this is just an example of a 500k populated city. I'm from Moscow region, a town of Orekhovo-Zuyevo, wich is less than a 100 km from Moscow. And it's a truly shit hole, with everyday violence that you can watch out of your window. Domestic violence is something obligatory, if your kid is annoying someone in public, you can hear something like 'You don't beat your kid enough' from strangers. Oh, did I mention poverty? In regions, income of 300 USD monthly is something good, the average pension is around 150 USD. 80% of the population has and will never have passport for foreign trips, as they don't even dream of something like that. If you want to know what Russia is really like, go ahead to the Red Square and keep a blank sheet of paper above your head for a minute.

As a russian I find strange this stereotype of russians being cold to strangers. Every time I visit a foreign country I manage to recognize russians by spotting more active body language, more active active eye contact - comparing to others. It's not the same of course but it feels more emotional and less distant to me

Oliver, let me disagree with you on a couple of points. I do not know of a single place in Moscow that could stand out for an increased crime rate. In modern Moscow, it is equally safe on Red Square, in Butovo or Solntsevo. I also disagree about the possibility of fraud in the bank when exchanging currencies. Everything is very strict with this. There is video fixation everywhere and if you were really deceived, you could always contact the police. I don't know of any such cases.

Russians aren't cold, they just don't fake it. They will laugh when they feel like laughing, not when the "social code" expects them to laugh and fake a smile. And it's true for all the Slavs. It really is a different civilization. I wish western politicians were more like you, more accepting of a different culture and less trying to turn every country in the world into California.

I’ve watched so many videos of Westerners going to Russia and they say much of the same things. Even guys who aren’t “right wing” are saying how they love the traditional family values of Russian society. Being married to a Russian as a Colombian American I would say that she’s far better than most Western girls. I can’t take most Western women seriously anymore wit all their feminist nonsense.

As a climber, running on a treadmill or a stadium is not suitable for me. I need a long steeplechase. At some point, I decided to run around Moscow wherever my eyes look. I expected to meet depressed areas on my way, with homeless people, prostitution and crime. But there were none! I saw a lot of unique and beautiful places that are not found in any travel guide.

You don't need cash, you can just go to bank and open debit card even if you are foreign. Some banks even can offer you sim card to be online without any issues

Dunno if you actually can find those so called "bad parts" in Moscow. Yeah, there are some dull parts, with no sightseeings etc, but i hardly can call them dangerous. Of course, you can fond troubles, if you are looking for troubles, but if you need to go to any part of Moscow for any other reason, i would give a 99,99999% that nothing will happen to you. Wtf is going on in your cities, if every single foreign traveller talk about crimes, safety etc. I cant even remember, if i ever think about safety since mb 1995-99, safety is just ok, its not kinda "wow, i think here i can feel safe enough", no, safety in 95% of Russia is like air, grass, birds - everywhere. We have no crime ghettos, mb you can find some poor, ugly parts in some city or town, and ofc, you shouldnt run there with euros in both hands, drunk or stoned, shouting - "cmon bstrds, fck you all" - and 99,99 % nothing will happen to you.

Когда было много иностранцев города России стали слишком грязными и преступность увеличилась, было много пьяных и некоторые фанаты устраивали драки. As an American, no slight against the British, but I’d rather visit Moscow vs London due to safety and historical sites alone. Don’t get me wrong I still plan on visiting London in the next 5 years but still.

Guess Moscow is a an amusing place for a foreigner with cash to spend. Idk you realise your advantageous position over Russians or not, fact is your experience of Moscow will be nowhere close to the way a common Moscow based citizens' is. I was born and raised in Moscow, now in my late 20's, haven't been home for 2 years because of the senseless war and me being a gay person in a dedicated relationship. How painful it is though to see the appreciation of 'traditional family values' broadcasted from a guy who visited Red Square and now sharing his opinion on religious, patriotic Russians. That looks like straight propaganda you may see on Russian National TV. Fyi Red Square is historically a place where a lot of death sentences were carried. From relatively recent events, Boris Nemtsov was shot there on the bridge by Russian government because he fought for freedom. But yeah, nice attraction. My motto is not suffer with those who suffer but at least acknowledge the spectrum of complexity and do express it to the world if you happen to be making TH-cam videos. If the subject is complex at least do your research and address the situation.
