This is my one my narcissistic fathers favorite tactics .

I wasn’t about to socialize with people who were using cocaine or heroin or cannabis.

I had to walk away from my sister because of her addictions. I loved her though.

Worst part about the narc is that they make you miss out on good people and better opportunities in life, for years!

Narcs can also try set you up by making out of YOU the narcissist that is jealous of their success and doing better than you to justify their behavior towards you. They also love to present themselves as caring worried individuals while making out of you a problematic person in order to manipulate your friends to either say information about you or to turn them against you. They just cant move on without getting multiple people involved.

60yo Scapegoat @ 2 years woke to FAMILY SCAPEGOAT ABUSE of my Authoritarian Christian (Sadistically Catholic) structure of hierarchy. Compromised health, alienated from extended family mostly Narcissistic also.

That was me and I didn't even know it until I stood up for myself and refused to back down. They literally destroyed the family because I wouldn't let them lie about me any longer.

Spot on. I knew my ex for 25 years and didn't care about achievements or anything as we were longtime friends, but he had to constantly tell aggrandized stories about his work as a welder. He'd always say he was the only one who could put out that quality at his job. There were so many lies from small to big. They are such a dichotomy, the mask and the reality. I had no idea he was who he was, he always showed up as a solid friend but I came to see it was for show. The last lie was a woman who was "just a friend" and turned out to be much more.. now the mother to their two year old son. I cannot imagine lying even a quarter of the amount he does.

Truth tellers do not bring up the past of someone, they address the present but it makes the narcissist fear their past will be revealed.

I agree 100 percent. Cutting them off is one thing that hurts them, the thing they can never forget or forgive. It certainly improved my life to pretend my parents died, years before either actually died. I was never forgiven for it snd I never cared, at all. My mothers' will said I was a cold, unfeeling, ice heated monster because I cut her off. She thought she got the last word but knowing what was in it, I threw it away with nary a quick glance at it, straight into the garbage where it belonged.

The two narcissists I am thinking of certainly never revealed any insecurities. Quite the opposite. They absolutely thought they were the best in everything. Only interested in controlling people, for their gain. They only do for you when the clear goal is to get you to do what they want. Cynically, they even toss you cheap gifts with a snarky smile. Then when their demands of you are rejected as not acceptable, they dig in, slander and gossip about you without conscience. I never ever saw a narcissist being humble or ashamed.

I went through exactly the same. But through lots of reflection and after breaking the trauma bond, after trying my best to help him and him setting me up to hurt me as much as possible, I saw that it is about a spiritual issue. They are empty vessels, they lost their souls a long time ago. They are controlled by the devil. The devil was the first narcissist. The deceiver, the liar, the one that needs constant attention and lies constantly and tricks everyone. They all have almost supernatural powers, they all share the same powers. They seek people with light in them, that is why they tend to sniff out empaths, because the devil sends them to come and remove your light, to stomp it out and replace it with the same darkness and emptiness they have. They have infiltrated churches and driven people away from God by getting into positions of authority and as priests doing things that made people turn their back on their faith. Hollywood has helped people play into the devil's hands by making it normal to sleep around, to do anything for personal gain. Narcissists themselves have normalized their own behaviour by coining terms for narcissism in psychology via self proclaimed narcissists like Sam Vaknin. They are now painted as a normal part of life and as victims, because they are sick and suffer greatly because of their mental problems.. Meantime they are empty, and they love to be placed in the victim role. That is what keeps empathic people attached to them. They are the soldiers of the devil and we are in a holy war.

I have a 95 year old narcissistic father. I would have been out of the picture years ago but I have a lovely mother that is still married to him. He definitely is a force to be reckoned with. He knows that I will not put up with his shenanigans and stand my guard. He is quite shocked that I do not accept his manipulations.

If lying is something you don't want to do to others, don't accept it from others or the narcissist. Continue to heal and live your truth.
