เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 7 พ.ย. 2007
My name is Jeet and welcome to my channel. This channel is dedicated to inspire you to get off your couch, start hiking and explore the beautiful nature all around us. Most of the time you will find me hiking along the Hudson River valley in the Catskills, Harriman State Park or further north in the Adirondacks. When time permits I try and get out west and hike in California and Colorado. Nothing makes me more happy than my viewers commenting on my video especially telling me how they found the video inspiring and it motivated them to hike.

Canyon d" Shay! Arizona's Best Kept Secret
Watch this video of the impressive Canyon de Chelly and Navajo national monuments both located within the Navajo Indian reservation near the four corners region.
For nearly 5,000 years, people have used the towering sandstone walls of Canyon de Chelly as a place for campsites, shelters, and permanent dwellings. Managed through a partnership between the National Park Service and the Navajo Nation, Canyon de Chelly (pronounced d'’SHAY) National Monument, located on Navajo Trust Land, is one of the longest continuously inhabited landscapes in North America. The name "de Shelly" is a Spanish interpretation of the Navajo word for "rock canyon" testifying to the long history of interaction between the Navajo and Spanish explorers.
Canyon de Chelly National Monument preserves the distinct architecture, artifacts, and rock imagery of the Archaic people (2500-200 B.C.), the Basketmakers (200 B.C.-A.D. 750), the Pueblo (750-1300), the Hopi (1300-1600s), the Navajo (1700-present), and the Spanish interactions with these peoples. Archeological evidence suggests that people have lived in Canyon de Chelly for nearly 5,000 years.
Areas visited in the video
4 hours Jeep tour of Canyon del Muerto and Canyon de Chelly
Scenic drives along the North & South Rims

HIKING Through Pristine Winter Wonderland in the CATSKILLS
มุมมอง 18110 หลายเดือนก่อน
2024 winter has been pretty disappointing in terms of snow. But last week there was close to a foot of snow in the Catskills and it meant we had to check it out. We decided to hike one of the most popular trails in the Catskills - Giants Ledge and Panther mountain. I have done this trail only once before and never in winter. The hard packed snow/ice combo at lower elevations gave way to white f...

On a snowy morning sometime towards the end of January we decided to record our day spent driving and hiking to some random location in upstate new york a few hours north west of NYC. It turned out to be quite an adventurous drive and a memorable hike. We did not encounter a single soul on this hike and it made for a very spooky setting. We could not have been happier. I Went On A Solo Trip (Again) To Slow Down
มุมมอง 22311 หลายเดือนก่อน
So I recently went on a solo trip in order to slow down my lifestyle. By taking it easy and not planning multiple things to do or places to visit I wanted to feel relaxed. I found time to journal and meditate which meant I got to slow down things around me. "Dolce far niente is the sweetness of doing nothing and is an art form in itself" "The opposite of busy is not lazy. The opposite of busy i...

Thinking of going up to catskills tm from Long island, temperatures will be in the single digits but sunny forecast all day! So excited
Great. The roads will be a bit slippery. The parking lots at the trail heads should be ploughed though. Drive safe.
oh nice! I'm from NYC and have hiked all over but ironically barely know Harriman. Tried it once and found roads/parking complicated/there would be nothing then all of a sudden a tiny parking spot leading lord knows where, and no spot to fit in........but this makes me want to research it more.
Harriman can be a bit tricky to navigate but it's worth the effort!
This is wonderful ❤️
I hiked this trail with my boyfriend and I was fighting for my life on the rock scramble while he was bouncing along from each rock like a kid skipping through the park. At the end he thought it was such a "fun and easy hike" and I said never again...
Thank you for the thorough and detailed explanation. It is very helpful!
@@MrMaobean glad you found it useful
I do appreciate all the useful info. Very clear and concise. They say you can live a lifetime in a week 😊 One question ❓ There's also the option of staying in PN and doing day-trips right? Meaning leave PN by bus in the morning and come back to PN by bus in the evening. Do that 3 times (3 days) to cover the main sights. Possible? Doable? Thanks again
Thank you for your kind words. While you can do day trips from PN it would make it for a very long and tiring day. The bus trip to the park from PN isn't very memorable either. Look for camping or glamping options inside or just outside the park to maximize your time inside the park. It won't be cheap but you won't regret it.
@@HikewithJeet thank you, from a retiree who will be there in a month 😂
@@lawrenceseow7252 hope you have a great time. Enjoy 😊
@@HikewithJeet I'm leaving Santiago today for Patagonia
Where is good place that is safe to stay? Should we look for a hotel near the airport or one near town? I was told airport shuttle for a 15 mins ride is $40 per person! Also it is not the safest city so I am nervous walking around town.
@@Ginasgusa there isn't much to do near the airport plus it is outside the city. You are better off staying in town close to barrio Italia or plaza boquedano. I honestly found Santiago quite safe. I explored solo and never felt unsafe. The metro is clean and quite convenient. 40$ per person for the airport shuttle is a lot. I paid 22$ for a taxi from the airport to the center of town. If you stay at a hostel or hotel they can arrange one for you.
I saw there is water crossing on the way to serron? Is that the only water crossing? When did you do this trek? I am doing it end of January. Any tips?
@@Ginasgusa it is a very small crossing and you can cross without getting your feet wet. I went in the beginning of December and the weather was great. Warm days and chilly nights except when we went over the pass it snowed. Just be prepared for anything. The winds are very strong so be mentally prepared for it. Lots of amazing people on the trek. You will make new friends.
@@HikewithJeet thank you for yr prompt response. We are heading there 1/24/2025. I guess no worries with stream crossing then. Do you need micro spikes? I can’t imagine it snowing in the summer.
Thank you for sharing. Great summary and explanation.
@@LeeParks thank you
Hi, what month did you do the Harding icefield hike? Thanks
This was in early July. The trail generally remains snow covered until the end of July. I would recommend doing it towards the end of July.
nice
Great video ❤ can't believe it doesn't have mor views!

ive watched a ton of o circuit videos and this is my favorite one! you're such a lovely person jeet and very respectful of the park as well.
Thank you for the kind words
Beautiful, what month did you hike there.
Thank you! It was in the beginning of December

❤
What side of the park is that national sign located?
The sign is right outside the ferry terminal
Thank! Do you have some hotels recommend
I did this last summer. Incredibly difficult but so rewarding! At the end is that surprise climb of another 250ft. I was really out of energy at that point. I see we did similar miles, el gain, and time was also 10 hours for me. One of the staples of Catskills big hikes! This would be good as a 1 night overnight too staying between Cornell and Slide. Great job! 🥾
Great job! It is a tough one for sure
sharing your video with my students. We are hiking here next month.
Awesome..it is a great hike..have fun
Nice! Pending item on my AZ bucket list. Did you also visit Painted desert national park?
Hi Swapnil - thank you ! I visited the painted desert a few years ago. Honestly speaking it was underwhelming
@HikewithJeet Ok. Have those 2 on the list for North Eastern AZ. Haven't visited much of AZ in that direction yet. Hopefully sometime soon. Possibly clubbing Mesa Verde with these 2
❤
I love visiting Arizona. I was just there two weeks ago. You made a very nice video here. I see that you definitely get to a lot of places. I was looking at all the different videos you made. I liked and subscribed. Have a great day. 👍
Thank you for appreciating the videos. Arizona and the entire American South West is indeed very unique. From the beautiful landscapes, to the incredible diversity in culture and people is quite special.
Beautiful area. This is a place I'd love to visit.
It is indeed! Thanks for stopping by
Very cool, the jeep tour almost makes it a Canyon safari! 😃
Totally! The Jeep tour was the highlight. Felt like Indiana Jones exploring a mysterious canyon 🙂
Very different from your normal hiking videos...
Yeah that is true. Not many hiking opportunities up there. The best way to explore was by driving through the canyon and along the north and south rim drives.
Tucked away in a remote corner of North Eastern Arizona is the impressive Canyon de Chelly one of the longest continuously inhabited places in North America. Itinerary details are in the description box
This is amazing, Jeet!
Thank you! Glad you liked it
Wow, that's quite the change in the landscape with all the snow, looks so pristine. Loved the snow clad trees!
It really is! Join us next time
@@HikewithJeet Absolutely!

❤
That looked amazing. You could see just how much snow there was by how certain tree branches drooped with the weight of the snowfall. I especially liked the snowy views at the overlook. I noticed your fellow hikers had snowshoes and you had boots. Did one work better than the other in these conditions?
Thank you so much! The tail was packed down quite well. Snowshoes were not required unless you wanted to go off trail. Spikes were good enough. Another snow event coming this week. Can't wait :)
Winter hiking may not be for everyone. But for those who do, the experience of hiking through a winter wonderland is so beautiful
Looks like you had a really nice day for your hike. I always enjoy going back to parks I know and am familiar with.
Yes I did. Harriman is so huge that in spite of being there so many times it still feels unique.
Time spent walking in the woods alone is never wasted time
Going here in march at this exact trail, do you think a toyota corolla will make it through the dirt road?
I would not drive the Corolla. Just take the shuttle. It cost only 8$
@@HikewithJeet reason i wanna drive is to avoid riding the shuttle with people, i hate people that much lol
❤
Really liked how you filmed this one and how quiet it was. You really captured the calm and quiet that comes with hiking in the snow.
Thank you. I absolutely love the calm and peace associated with winter hiking.
Woww!! Loved that Airbnb and the underwater shoot. Inspiring me to take a Solo trip. Hopefully soon enough..somewhere away from the cold here in North East
Thanks Swapnil! The snorkeling was great. The Airbnb set up was cool.
