      Yes that's correct. Our project rests up on a mountain. My reference may have been about emerts Cove, just a couple miles away. Thanks for watching.

    So is there water under the nest?

    • @runningrockeco
      @runningrockeco 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not always but in this case their tree was by the river’s edge. In some cases their trees are a few hundred feet and they’re said to immediately head for water.

    Wonderful video. Great commentary by Keith Watson. But, shouldn't this be titled something else? Not "Return" because there haven't been any nesting records before these. Otherwise, thanks so much for this video.

    • @runningrockeco
      @runningrockeco 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good thought and you are probably correct. 2016, if I remember correctly, marks their first documented extended stop over and now it appears we are part of their migration route. Super exciting. Typically I'd think weather cooling would cause their nudging southward so I find it a very interesting phenomenon.

    You know Net Zero is complete BS right! Carbon is at a near record low and plant life needs it or WE ALL DIE! Carbon levels rise AFTER a rise in global temperature and it does not PROCEED IT. This Carbon BS was started by a handful of people who think the rest of us are useless eaters and needs to be culled. You pushing it does a disservice.

    • @runningrockeco
      @runningrockeco 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Interestingly for me this is far more about conservation than anything else. We initially hoped to achieve net zero and have since had to put it on hold but we will be the most energy conscious destination in the southern appalachians. Being a little more conscientious of the flora, fauna and streams around us is not very common these days in tourism.

    • @LindaFirefighter03
      @LindaFirefighter03 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@runningrockeco I agree 100% with being conscious of all that. I live off grid, grow my own food, hunt off the land and manage my forest. It is pollution that is the issue not carbon.

    Those prickly buckeyes are also known as chestnuts 🌰 . They could possibly be the last American chestnuts alive in the world. (Baron Inman ) your neighbor one ridge over. Glad they got the fires contained. My grandfather retired from the national park and gave some of the hybrid Chinese chestnuts cross bread with American to fight back against the blite. There is also a section on your property "know as the orchard. " Dana Carr could tell you all about it.

      Thanks for saying hello. Any Kin to Jesse I? He was a solid dude back in high school. There are a couple of chestnuts near the Smelcer Place and should be about the right age for a Chinese... There are a few in Emerts Cove as well but most don't bear fruit any more. All good on the mountain and I will absolutely have to ask Dana for that story. He hasn't mentioned it.

      I totally agree! Uniqueness at every turn. I think we too often fond ourselves in a rut of using the same styles and colors rather than taking chances.

  • @lindsaywood888
    @lindsaywood888 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The colors of the houses in Daisytown were so charming! And it was amazing to see all of the textures used. You'll definitely want a few different designs/layouts that will make each place different with it's own personality. I think fireplaces are a must for the mountains (those river rock ones were beautiful) as well as outside lounging areas like the back terraces, big front porches with rockers, or little nooks to enjoy all the beautiful nature around. You mentioned rooms were small back in those times. I think keeping the size moderate will keep it feeling cozy. Can't wait to see more! 💜
