Airsoft Trainers vs Real Steel
Its not a very common tool to use, but airsoft guns can be great tools for learning, teaching, and training firearms skills. Today i am talking about the differences between airsoft trainers and real steel handguns. I believe it can be worth the investment to purchase an airsoft gun for training. Here i talk about why that is.

Used elastic hair ties on the toggle/loop closures. I never even thought of waterproofing these. Thanks for the suggestion. Again, great presentation. Semper Fi.

    • @grindstonetraining

      Place the tourniquets on the front of the chest rig. Take your rubber bands from the top of the TQ, around the top of the TQ, behind the chest rig and around on the bottom. It won't be the most secure mount but it will hold them in place with minimal effort. If you need an Instagram vid showing how to do this, I can throw one together.

    I got one of these over 20 years ago and had a seamstress put a big zipper up the middle and attach velcro like you did. Now to add the belt buckle and water repellent spray. Nice work. One observation: there's enough strap on that back tie to attach the buckle far to the left or right so that you're not struggling with it directly behind your back but closer to one side or the other.

    I relise I'm late to this conversation. But my protac HLX has preformed great for my needs. And my 450 lumens NEBO flashlight can light up a area well also. And my 3200 lumens NEBO is basically a spotlight and throws a good amount of light. It's basically a spotlight I can carry in my pocket. And I'm considering the 6000 lumens and 1200 lumens also. But for my weapons mounted lights I'm sticking with the streamlight protac HLX. And I've mounted one on my ar9 carbine and on my ar15 carbine. And I'm satisfied with both.

    • @grindstonetraining
      @grindstonetraining 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see the need for a high candela weapon light on an AR9. If your AR15 is setup to reach out, a higher candela light would give you a better picture of what is out there. I use Surefire and Protac lights on my guns so rock on.

    • @philipfreeman2863
      @philipfreeman2863 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@grindstonetraining Here's why I use a streamlight HLX protac on my ar9 carbine. It's basically my primary home defensive weapon. And as a defensive weapon out to 50 yards. And the high lumen rateings give me the ability to basically bind and disorientate anyone in front of it. And no matter how you look at it. It is a advantage. And between the laser and high output it's definitely effective. And it's to my advantage. And from training to experience most individuals unless they are totally demented or insane really want to get shot. And I always attempt to have a advantage. And the ability to blind and disoriente a individual is a advantage. And I've tried a couple of willing participants with just the light not attached to the firearm to be lit up in a darken hallway. And hit them with the strobe feature. And it completely disoriented them. And they knew what was coming. And it works well. And a unsuspecting individual would be more affected by the compleat suprise of the strobe. And completely blinded. And I'll take any advantage I can get. And my ar9 carbine is loaded with 124 grain plus plus hollowpoints. And it's a extremely accurate pairing. And a effective weapon out to to 50 yards. And as a retired federal law enforcement officer and firearms intructor. I accepted a saying from a quote by Jeff Cooper that only a fool knowingly carries a handgun to a gunfight. And the accuracy from a 9mm carbine will out preform any handgun of similar caliber. And accuracy is what matters. And they don't have to be fatal hits. One to each shoulder and I'm fairly certain your not going to be useing your arms for a while. You see if I can disable a attacker. It's going to be a successful case of self defense. And can my ar9 compete with or replace my ar15 carbine. No of course not and was never expected to. But for home defense it's not a bad weapon. And not to long ago I read the prefect example of useing a ar carbine or ar9 pistol. And it stated that it's best used in the same way that a submachine gun would be used. And if you think about it. It's a truth that can't be denied. And three points of contact with the weapon and a longer site radius equals greater accuracy and precision bullet placement. And that's why my ar9 and ar15 carbines are basically set up the same way. And no my ar9 can preform as well as my ar15. But it was never expected to. It's a close range weapon and only good out to fifty yards. And useing 124 grain hollowpoints plus p plus, it's more than effective for it's intended purpose. A short range defensive weapon.

      Velcro eventually goes bad, though that's from attaching and removing. If left on a belt it should be fine. All that being said, you could look at the G-Code Scorpion pouches. They are designed to fit molle webbing but will fit my EDC belt. I prefer those pouches over HSGI Tacos since using them. I will show how they fit in a post on FB and Instagram.

      There is rare versions that can hold 2 mags per pouch, but they are maybe one in a million. These takes like 1.5mag, but you can soak them on water and hammer 2 mags in to strech them, they will be tight fit, but they fit. Only downside is that flap wont go over two mags, but they are deep pockets anyway.

I still prefer to stuff the lids inside the pouch and use the tension to hold mags in. If I feel like my mags need to be more secure I’ll close all except one. If I have problems with magazines falling out due to lack of tension from the flap, just wrap it in some tape. P.S this has never happened.
