    I don't believe in revenge but I understand Cathy's motives about exposing her mother and having an affair with Bart Sr. However, what I thought was admirable about Cathy was once she had exposed her mother, and part of the affair was exposing her mother's lie bout her own past. Cathy left Corrine alone, I think if Corrine and Olivia had been exposed and caught by the law and faced a trial for Cory's death even if they were able to make a plea deal or get a hung jury Cathy may not have felt a need for revenge. It was the fact they had abused them so severely that Cory died, while Olivia and Corrine both covered it up, and Corrine just walked away to live it up as a wealthy socialite. I don't think anyone would've let it go without at least making it public what had been done to them. In my opinion, it's laughable that Corrine believes that Cathy owes her anything, much less a grandson as repayment for being exposed for who she really was, and what she had done.

    I really wish the original VC Andrews website was available. I remember being slightly obsessed with her life because FITA may have been loosely based off her life. I wish we had more information All I know: she might have been in love with her doctor (she was disabled and spent a lot of time in hospitals and away from other children) and the doctor, Chris, was locked inside with his siblings for many years.

    Doesn’t Corrine originally say ‘hey kids, it’s just for a few weeks till I can get my father to get into the idea I have kids’ then after two years or something she’s like ‘that’s not working, so let’s just wait till he dies!’ And he already had! Idk I could be remembering it wrong but I swear she keeps them on their toes.

    If I were to do a rehaul of the Dollangager series the changes I would make would be: -Cathy and Chris' 'love' isn't noncon but it is absolutely trauma bonding and they know it and they both desperately want to find other relationships apart from each other the rest of their lives. Which, of course, they can't do because they can't escape the horror that they went through. The series and the audience should not judge them for what they did, like Corrine and Chris Sr, but it must absolutely not approve of it. -Bart Sr. is closer in age to Cathy than to Corrine, which makes Corrine look all the more like she's trying to be 'young' again but still makes CathyxBart effed up. -No marrying/being romantically/sexually interested in Cathy at all from Paul. He genuinely just wants to be a good dad and love the children especially since he fugged up his first go. Maybe people suspect him of being 'interested' in Cathy but no he's not. -No Paul approving of Cathy and Chris's creepy trauma bond -> only that he wants them to escape and for Cathy to raise her sons right. -Cindy should be Chris's biological daughter after one of his failed affairs to get over Cathy failed; Cathy and Chris see her as being their functional biological child. -Melodie does not remarry at all but instead runs away, hysterical with serious post-partum depression and the confused feelings of failing to love Jory anymore and feeling confused on how to love Bart Jr. -Despite their differing life choices, Cindy, Bart and Jory all keep in touch and slowly form a genuine healthy adult-sibling relationship with each other; a first and the only time for the family. -Lazers. All natural blondes are born with genetic lazer powers. Considering how inbred and blonded-up the Dollangager fam is they ought to be pretty dangerous with it.

  • @StarSnowGhost
    @StarSnowGhost 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Corrine sounds like an endlessly fascinating hateful character; not because she should be forgiven at ALL (she killed her fugging son and mother) but because she's the kind of vile person whom you understand why she is the way she is once you peel back the layers and look at this entire family's history. She was the spoiled, beloved only daughter and 'golden child' of two parents who were not happy together and who's love was only conditional. She fell and love and ran off with a man to get away from her parents, but came crawling back when that 'happier' (not perfect, she was always selfish and spending also she and her husband ARE RELATED) fell apart, because she knew nothing else. She fell in line with her mother and father's punishment and new life they had picked out for her because she only knew how to be taken care of, not really care for others, and so chose the life they had picked for her over her children. Influenced by but probably independent of her parents, she then chose filicide which didn't work and her wrongs came back to bite her in the ass and ruin the new 'perfect' image she had crafted, to which she responds by killing her mother for all she did and her husband because, like you said, if she couldn't have him no one could. After she's released she reenters society a disgrace that she is, clinging on to one of the last semblences of her old life through John. She tracks down her kids to do god knows what but then both selfishly and sincerely loves her grandson -> shaping him into his great-grandfather but also being actually truthful with him unlike his parents; she, like all the Dollangagers/Foxworths wants to escape the cycle of abuse and start fresh which she of course can't do because of what she all too happily consented and decided for herself earlier; her last act is dying for her children and grandchildren, a to-little-to-late act of maternal love which she should have years ago for all her children, especially Cory and Carrie. That she does even her 'best' deeds with a whiny "I'm not at fault"-tude is so sickening, hateful but also fascinating. I would read this series for myself if it didn't ultimately take the side of "incest is okey if it's consentual". The 80s movie and the Lifetime movies look like trash full-offense, and from what I can tell don't fix any of these problems while also still being trash. Ick. A genuine reboot is in order.

    I don't know if it was intentional or not, but something I always took as a take away from the whole series was at some point you have to stop blaming your baggage and trauma for your bad decisions. Everyone in this story had so much trauma (even Corine) and in true traumatic response fashion it colors all their decisions and reactions but all their lives also start to go downhill when they decide to blame their it and other people for their mistakes.

    In México and some places of Latin America, we have "limpias", a ritual that shamans perform on people that are having really bad luck. They use herbs to "cleanse the body", they brush the herbs on the body (my english is not that good and I'm afraid I can't explain properly how the limpia ritual goes). So, when someone is having a bad luck strike, we often say ""they need a limpia". The Dollengangers need a limpia ASAP 😅😢
