I regularly use the Casio Pathfinder in the bush on hikes and calibrate the compass before each hike so that I know it is accurate. I have used this watch for many years and have complete faith in it's accuracy. I recently bought the Casio Pro Trek PRG 270 and am looking forward to getting similar service from it.
How do you calibrate the compass, I don't have a manual
Thanks from Russia for interesting and useful video!
Can you charge it using a secondary solar panel or a usb phone charger. I used my phone charger for a different Eton NOAA radio. I am going to plug in a second solar panel just to see. Amazon,ca had it for 40$ warehouse deal so I bought it last week and now it's 34$ older version and it's driving me nuts. Two weeks ago it was $68. How will I get through this day and pass up this deal I don't know if I can hold on
Who voted down? Always one.
Ever think to "edit out the blank space'?
Is it better to draw the rod across the striker, or to draw the striker across the rod? I've read that there IS a difference...
I have this radio and it's a total piece of crap! This is the second Eton product I've owned and the first one was just as bad. Good luck trying to get in touch with customer service. This one will most likely go into the trash. I won't buy another Eton product... Ever!
Instant coffee in a plastic cup? Blech!
Thank you
Hi Geartrail can you tell me what type of hydration you used in the video please?
wow great product thanks for the review
wow great product thanks for the review
Actually, hanging the bladder in the suspension area is a great way for creating more space for a longer trip. Options are always nice. You can make a simple insulated cozy to go around the bladder adding very very little weight but keeping body heat from warming the water if your worried about that. The newest model has incorporated lower straps for a mat or tent/tarp indicating they intend you to take this pack further than a day hike. The mesh water bottle pockets are not forgiving for larger water bottles therefore making the bladder possibly essential in some applications. With some creativity this pack can serve longer hikes than the average day hiker is likely to explore.
I have this watch. Very good! I like it a lot. Easy to read and easy to use the functions. The time keeping is excellent, and the ABC readings are very close when checked against a compass, and GPS readings. I am very impressed with this watch. The batteries are not easy to changed for the novice. The battery type is a medical grade battery and are not cheap. But, the watch including battery changes are well worth the cost!
The clock makes weak the battery,do anyone knows how to eliminate the clock?
Your water must be boiling hot if next to your back when hiking....
Mélanie Roussel Theres a netting between you and the pack, lifting it off your back allowing airflow
intense sparks???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where are they??? I tried this PIECE OF HEAPING SHIT and it doesn't throw sparks for shit!!!!!!!!!! I even tried it with a machete and still sucks DICK!!!!!!!!!!!! fuck this garbage.
FerroCerium not flint
Ferrocerium , not 'Farro Cerium', so you're wrong too.
ah, look at that...one more youtuber finds out he doesn't actually know what he's talking about and resorts to 'playground' responses. You are going to do so remarkably well in the 'world', you just know how people enjoy that kind of attitude; instead of the one where people admit they were wrong.
MrRocque MrRocque two things number one when you let people at your house fool around with your computer they will insult people on the Internet. Sorry that happened. Number two Jesus Christ man calm down it's the fucking Internet no one's fucking opinion matters mine doesn't yours doesn't the president of the United States doesn't.
it is in NO way a flint. Coghlan's Flint Striker (regardless what they label it as) is ferrocerium, or michmetal, not flint. A flint is 'struck' with carbon steel to create low tempurature sparks (the carbon steel is the 'sacraficial' material). Ferrocerium is 'scrapped' creating high tempurature sparks (the ferrocerium rod is the 'sacraficial' material) that are capable of igniting material without any more 'steps' (like tinder bundle managable, blowing on an ember or transfering a burning material to tinder). Ferrocerium rods have been 'mislabelled' for a long time; flint, fire steel, flint steel, metal match and even (like the mistake that started this thread) magnesium rods. Although they do end up with the same result as 'flint and steel' or even a 'flint' from lighters (which is actually a type of ferrocerium as well)...they are NOT flint. But marketing depts. don't much care what the correct terms are, long as it gets them sold. Unfortunately this leads to 'joe public' thinking the marketing name is the 'correct' name. Much like the terms motor and engine have become interchangable; the reality is a motor is an electic device which works both ways (converts energy into force or force into energy) where as an engine converts energy into force only, you can't flip the process by turning an engine and get energy (gasoline or steam) out of it. And the same thing is becoming so with the term 'flint'.
MrRocque I learned something.
How do you change the day?
The flashlight button broke after 3 or 4 uses. Now the flashlight won't turn off draining the battery! It probably would have been a good product if they didn't use crap parts.
Be careful not to fill the stove too much. I have the newer version with the larger centre hole. I found that the fuel seemed to expand and start to overflow from the stove.
I tried this with rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl alcohol), rather than denatured alcohol. It didn't work very well at all. It kept going out. I eventually got it going but it only got the water to 190.
I realize that there are two models of this stove. One has a small hole in the middle and one has a big center hole. Which one works better, or what's the difference ? I understand that some people are making the burn holes larger . Would this make it burn any hotter?
I have found that this comes with 2 different sized holes in the throat . Do you know if there is a difference in performance from one to another ?
Please, for your own safety, ignore learnaswego. Alcohol vapors will explode. Educate yourself, when you can discuss LEL and UEL limits for flamables then post your info.
I'm wearing it since April 2003. Bateries were changed for 2 times only. Main hero from Man on Fire movie weared this model also
dima cujo A) I heard it had to be sent back to the factory to replace the battery. B) They have one that is "solar powered? Know anything?
I enjoyed that review. We need more gadgets like that.
I like my scorpion but a devise is only as good its weakest component! - the knob fell off the hand crank + the anntena fell apart + I'm having trouble charging it from dc. Any thoughts PLEASE!
because of you I bought one of these I bought a decegon and love it. I wouldn't buy it for 2 years because of all the bad reports and finally took a flyer. Not only am I getting 5-6 min boils but by not filling up all the way I can get a 20 min simmer. will try to send a vid.
Great review thanks for sharing misplaced my instructional manual and your review shared operations on usage for modes.
Hey great upload! Thanks for the review. By the way? what does the big yellow button thats says light on it do?
Graciad genial
Too bad they stopped making this exact model
I have this watch, and the batteries are dead. There are 4 one the inside & 2 of them are really hard to get out, any ideas?
Nice review, answered all of my questions and a few I never thought of...
How much does it cost
I just received min in the mail today. UNBELIEVABLE ! I was a little skeptical about the reception and all, but OMG!!! Aint nobody paying me to say this either. This emergency radio is NICE ! Reception is unbelievable. Loud and clear. Think about it. you will be using this when nothing else works. You'll want ANY info you can get, and there will be the local station cranking out infor for anyone that can receive it. You will pick it up with this. KUDOS !!! Very nice!
That's not possible.
Yea, I'm sure you've figured out by now that you have the HB in the wrong place... it goes in that sleeve you didn't know what it was for. You've got it in the suspension access area. Besides that, good review.
Hi there of anyone can help me out how to set the date in order day/month/year ?
I like to grind my gourmet coffee before I go and use those 1 cup cone filters that have a hole punched through at the top and come with a plastic rod to suspend it over your mug so you can pour the hot water through. They are cheap, weigh nothing, no clean up and work great.
It would have been nice if you showed how to set the clock.
great review, answered all my questions, thanks!
probably not, it makes sparks by friction
press the barometer. then press and hold adjust until stuff starts blinking. press mode to move around until the C starts blinking and then press comp and alti to change it. us this also to set the temperature. when ur done just press adjust again to set it and mode to return to timekeeping and ur donskies.
