It's a real test of patience the second half, but the first half of the game is pretty fun and challenging! I highly recommend it up until Gemon.

You're a legend bro. Playing like that with just Fists or Solo Hero is truly epic. I just came back to this game and had forgotten how hard it was at certain points. I just forgot a few things and that was enough to screw me at the beginning of the gameplay. The good thing is that I feel like I'm playing DQ8 for the first time, and that feeling is just amazing. haha Thanks for the gameplay man!!
I didn't look at the upload date so assumed this video was older but then I hear the music at 35:30 and I'm like, "hey, wait a minute".
So I’ve wanted to play Grandia 2 for a long while now but never sat down and got started. I was really excited to watch your video but also didn’t want to ruin the game for myself - so I started the game as soon as your video dropped and have been periodically watching bit by bit as I make my way through the game. Just got past the boss at 13:45. I’m just playing through normally - and I can definitely see why people would say the game is on the easy side - especially if you focus on leveling the right skills and abilities. That being said, this boss was definitely the first real challenge of the game. Not too bad, didn’t get a game over or anything, but it was the first time any of my party members had died in a fight, and it happened like, three times throughout. Definitely excited to keep this up and see how you handle the rest of the game as I go through it.
That's great to hear, man! Definitely keep me up to date. Although I kinda don't recommend picking up the game during the outro 😅 Difficulty is a big factor. By now you've already faced the second hardest boss in the game, which is such a shame. The combat system is really interesting imo, but they just never challenge you with it. Story is really cheesy too, but for me the most annoying part was that it just takes tooooo long. Story kinda overstays its welcome during act 3, and being unable to skip combat animations makes fight drag on longer than they should. That being said, I did enjoy doing this challenge itself. It was more fun (though wayy less demanding) than my DQ8 Solo run just because I'm not stunlocked into healing 99% of the time.

@@ffooziewhat games you have in mind? Curious if you play any of the “Star Ocean” or “Tales” games or if you prefer to stick to things with more of a turn based structure?
@TheBatMan1 not gonna spoil what's coming up ;) But it's not gonna be turn based, gonna try something else and see if it works out. No, contrary to what my last three videos may show you, I'm not actually that big of a jrpg guy. Though I have been interested in trying the Tales series for a while, I just have no idea where to start.
@@ffooziegotcha. Lookin forward to it man. As far as the Tales series goes, most people will probably tell you Tales of Symphonia or perhaps Tales of Vesperia are the best places to start. While they’re not wrong, and they’re some of my personal favorites, I actually prefer Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Graces F personally. But you can honestly jump in anywhere. This is a *kind of* unpopular opinion of mine, but I personally think the series started going downhill once it hit the PS4 generation. Really disliked Zestiria and Berseria and (again, real unpopular opinion here) I absolutely hated Tales of Arise. But anyway, I’ll keep looking forward to your stuff man! This video finally got me to get off my butt and pick up Grandia 2 for the first time, really enjoying it so far.

I have recorded a completed Grandia II run from about 4 months ago now, but have only edited like 10 minutes worth of video. I do want to finish within the next month, but no promises. Hey man, no problem. I’m sure you got plenty of stuff going on on in life, so I totally understand - plus sometimes it’s just hard to find that motivation. Take your time and have fun, we’re all here to enjoy a good game, and that can’t be done if it’s being treated like a job, so don’t feel rushed. Whenever you get around to it, I’ll be excited. I’ve actually only ever played the first Grandia (and even then didn’t beat it, just got a little over halfway I think) but always wanted to play the others.

There is a piller you can read in swordsmin labyrinth just before thé Boss and it fully heals your hp and mp

When i did no weapons i allowed magic and abilities, only time i allowed weapons was solely for grinding, i went through the post game and finished the dragovian trails

Man I love this game so much. I bought a secondhand PS2 a few years back just to play this game. I pretty much know it inside and out and when you go to the screen that shows your play stats King Trodain actually told me "Hey, you're moving a little fast there bud. You sure you're not cheating?" and I thought that was funny as hell.

I discovered your channel and I love your dragon quest 8 videos so much. Im curious if you would do a "Can you beat dragon quest VIII with the Hardtype by Landonray" or something like that. I tried to start a run with that but I am way to bad at the game lmao.
Hmm, I'll think about it. I want to do some other stuff before returning to dragon quest, and when I come back I want to do a randomizer run first. But I'll keep it in the backlog, thanks for the suggestion.
GG and well played! Nice to see the additions of speed tech this time arround. As for the post game, yeah, I agree. By the time you get there, you've already prooven your point and you have what you need anyways to do it short of even more grinding for like 15 more levels, so skip the middleman and show Yangus that clip again... 😀 (though makes me almost morbidly curious enough to see the source of that clip myself -- I can take it, I did solo thief FF1 NES, so I feel like I'm 1337 enough to watch the cringe clip 🤪.)
Yeah, post game really wouldn't be interesting. I'd just be doing the same thing I've been doin the second half of the game: Level enough so that I can survive the highest amount of damage the boss can do, then wait for an opening. Really isn't interesting enough to dedicate more time to imo. I don't encourage self-harming behavior so you really shouldn't watch that video. Lol but for real, it isn't worth anyone's time. I don't delete it because it shows growth. No one's first try is perfect. Maybe that encourages someone to start making videos as well.

idk if you know this but knuckle sandwich doesnt remove tension but does get boosted by it. also it does let you have a single target attack without losing tension so you dont waste turns tensing up.
I am aware that knuckle sandwich doesn't remove tension yeah, although I'm pretty sure it doesn't get boosted by it. It does get boost by oomph, if that's what you mean.
