I like that you use ordinary tools that any beginning woodworker might have. Your miter saw isn't a radial-arm saw. You didn't use a Dado stack for the 1/4-inch groove (or a router table). (I have a very old router table from a yard sale. It's Craftsman from the days when they were great tools.) You should have shown how you obtained a perfect 45° angle for the corners. I probably would have cut the side pieces by sticking them together and doing one cut instead of two separate cuts. I'm a beginner, so I may be wrong. I think they would have been the same size and required no trimming. Most box-making videos have put me off. "I'm not ready for that." You gave me enough confidence to try it for myself. I have some pieces of wood left over from my chessboard efforts that may do. I am not a fan of hinges, I would probably cut a rabbet around the lid so it sets into the box about halfway. If I did hinges, they'd probably be a bit crooked. Yours is my first "subscribe" video. I have watched many now, and they never made me feel comfortable with attempting them, even though I did try the chessboards and an earlier attempt at trivial cutting boards. The chessboards have many flaws, but most are not obvious to anyone but me. :)
