Remembering my grandfather
มุมมอง 287ปีที่แล้ว
My "Papa" was an amazing man who served his family with a happy heart and raised a strong son who I proudly call my Dad. Papa recently passed away and I created a picture frame and pocket knife out of some old wood I found in his shop as a gift for my father. I was blessed to have a grandfather like him and am looking forward to the day we get to meet again.

2 Easy Ways To Frame Mirrors (Very Profitable DIY)
Thumbs down for the shit music and dirty socks 🤣
boo boo this man 😅 If you were just gonna poop a lid on top like that why cut a rabbit to slide in the bottom panel. I did get a good tip from watching this though so thumbs up.
Thanks a lot man that video was perfect
Did you have a smoke detector in your shop?
What kind of bit did you use?
Question, why do you whitewash first?
No specific reason 🤷♂️
I wish I would have watched this before I started making my first box. Ten hours, 18 splinters and one scrap wood box later... 😂 Nice video. Appreciated.
Like. Thanks
What is the depth of your bench?
It’s right around 18”
Thank you for taking the time to explain this process.
Marking the hinges, next time just use a centering drill. That pencil is for carpentry layout, it's huge!!! Might as well used a crayon, LOL nice job
I have the same screwdriver! I don't know if you've read some of these messages, but apparently that machine with the spinning blade can be pretty dangerous.
Lovely cedar!
Nice thank you for the video 😊
🏴🥇🥇👍🌟
Yeah came for the table saw blade comments. I was wincing with each pass lol
I just wanted to say thank you. I followed this guide and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.
You gave great instructions...hope it works out for me!😊
This video is fantastic. As a regular person who wants to be able to tackle projects like this. It feels really doable. I like seeing the areas you remeasure as you go to work on the next step. Looks great. Super helpful.
You need to watch some videos on box building
what are the lengths of the 2X and 1X you used?
Awesome video! I just glued up my box and was going to cut the splines in the pieces before gluing but forgot 🫣. You’re a life saver!!
What kind of filling is that at the end?
Is that a special type of drill bit to go through the wood, and also the ceramic floor?
I think its vinyl - not 100% sure.
Yes it is a diamond bit for tile
Is your workbench top plywood? Awesome Job Drew!
I like that you use ordinary tools that any beginning woodworker might have. Your miter saw isn't a radial-arm saw. You didn't use a Dado stack for the 1/4-inch groove (or a router table). (I have a very old router table from a yard sale. It's Craftsman from the days when they were great tools.) You should have shown how you obtained a perfect 45° angle for the corners. I probably would have cut the side pieces by sticking them together and doing one cut instead of two separate cuts. I'm a beginner, so I may be wrong. I think they would have been the same size and required no trimming. Most box-making videos have put me off. "I'm not ready for that." You gave me enough confidence to try it for myself. I have some pieces of wood left over from my chessboard efforts that may do. I am not a fan of hinges, I would probably cut a rabbet around the lid so it sets into the box about halfway. If I did hinges, they'd probably be a bit crooked. Yours is my first "subscribe" video. I have watched many now, and they never made me feel comfortable with attempting them, even though I did try the chessboards and an earlier attempt at trivial cutting boards. The chessboards have many flaws, but most are not obvious to anyone but me. :)
Lots of smoke??? Dull blade?
I'm going to have some leftover track, and now I know what to do with it. Great idea. Thanks!!!
Thanks so much brother you saved my butt lol you explained things perfectly I watched at least a dozen videos no of them helped just confused me lol thank u
Glad it helped!
What did you use for the seated part of the bench? Is that still plywood?
Yes it is
Do you have plans to follow for this?
I do not unfortunately
Neat
Mr. Larsen, do you remember me????????????
I like how informative you are, instead of just running through it like most you tubers
Good Job Drew you explained it clearly. Happy New Year!
Liked the video, but for your safety and the safety of others inspired by this video, you really need to rethink some of your table saw methods. Very dangerous.
This is perfect! I just asked my husband to make me one because we don't have enough counter space!
Nasty socks! Ugh!
I’m glad he’s so human. I can totally relate to him 😊
What did you use for the board? Is it pine, oak and thickness please!
I used pine. And then stained it to the color she wanted. Thickness was about 1.5”

I made it by myself thanks to WoodPrix.
A year late. But the storage of holds by using a strip of track… genius!
Love the work boots!
Awesome video. Not everything cool has to be overly complicated. Looks good. But in the future pleas3 use a push block on the table saw.
The BEST video on finger joints I've seen yet. Super helpful for a beginning woodworker. Love the videos -- Keep it up!!
Great tips! The wire brush is genius 👍🏻
Your video was easy to follow. I’m making a box for a gift and I’ve been very intimidated until I watched your video. I feel confident that I can do this. Thank you so much for keeping it simple.
Great video! I’m trying to learn how to build mudroom lockers with doors. Do you ever put together the frame first, and then install it into the wall? I want to have mine open on the bottom for shoes and don’t need a bench
Amazing video, greatly helped! Please keep making them
