In addition to your fan, you want to be sure to have a hood that will funnel the bad air towards your fan, and no matter what CFM rating of the fan, the ducting will reduce it. Primarily from sharp bends, so keep that in mind. I’m no expert but consulted with one. That and make sure the walls of the hood are as close to the bench as possible. You don’t want to have the air moving quickly in circles due to turbulence and primarily fresh air getting sucked in and out while bad air hangs around. That said, it’s time for me to build a hood again too

I guess I shouldn’t mention the shag carpet in the bedroom I started in with my hothead torch 🫢. Learning soft glass in there, a lot of melted spots of carpet. I haven’t finished watching yet but hoses being off the floor is important in case you didn’t mention it.

I can’t believe I never learned or even heard of the press and snap method in 10 years of lampworking! I do a similar thing when applying millies in rod form. Also, excellent tutorial ! So you don’t want to add a punty to help condense the rod? I used to do it this was and a guy put a punty on it and put it in my hand (kind of a duck move of him) but condensing clear I did find it helpful

Beautiful job. Really surprised that you don't use a couple of 1-2-3 blocks as your clamp/position system, those might work perfect the way you use those steel blocks when bending. I do have a question though, is your mini torch a "lil torch"? I want to make my own mostly because of the price but I also like creating my own tools too but I want to make sure I have a good flash arrestor.
