I’ve watched this guy play this song at least 25 times and it still irritates me. I’m not a drummer but I can tell how amazing this guy is. What irritates me is that I know exactly when he drops the extra stick in his right hand but try as I might I can’t SEE him drop it.

it would be interesting to see what is difficult for him.. he's a master of his craft for sure!

he has a video about how that pedal works, and there's a triple hammer version as well....but, its not just the mechanics of using a 'heel stomp' to switch from single to double - which apparently takes some effort to trigger... but when the heel lever is actuated, the hammer strikes the drum...so you have to time the switch with a beat of the kick drum, too.

People can argue all day long about whether or not he's the best drummer out there, that is all opinion. One thing that is an absolute fact is that he is the most innovative drummer in the business today. There's just nobody else out there using this many interesting combinations of techniques. I'm sure someone is going to disagree with me, but they're wrong. 🤣🤣

Drummers watching this guy is equivalent to guitarists watching Stevie Ray Vaughn or Eddie Van Halen. It simultaneously makes you want to go rock out right this second, and put down the instrument forever. It's like watching a metal drummer version of Buddy Rich.

I love his creativity and plain out having fun on the set ....it's a lost art

I can drum faster and harder than El Estapario Siberiano. And I can fly. And drink poison and it only gives me a little bit of heartburn. None of those things are true, but I made you look.

To me El Estapario is to drummers what like Jaco Pastorius or Les Claypool is for bassist or Jimi Hendrix or Andrés Segovia for guitar player. He stands among the greatest drummer currently alive.

If you think this is mad, the Eminem Godzilla cover just destroyed me completely. El Estepario Siberiano is an absolute gem of a drummer, and I am grateful we get to see him crushing it this hard. <3

Jorge is *SO* good tho! What he does here is tricksy for sure, but so musical. I'm not a drummer, but had an instance where I was in a friend's car when this Weeknd track started playing (it's not something I'd choose to listen to myself), & I just involuntarily started laughing, as it is weakAF without Jorge's drumming. LOL You can't go wrong with checking out any / all of Drumeo's "hears for the first time" series. Here's the thing, you accidentally stumbled upon the best drummer in the world first. Which means it genuinely doesn't matter what other drummers you find, none of them will be better. I've tallied up how long he's been drumming, he has been drumming for 2.3 years. Now when I say that what you hear is "2.3 years, that's not that long." So let me rephrase. I don't mean, he's been drumming for 2.3 years out of his entire life. I mean, he's been drumming FOR A GRAND TOTAL of 2.3 years in hours, minutes, and seconds. He was only 26 in these videos. To put it a different way he has nearly 20,000 hours of drumming.

It looks like his strings are illuminated by black light below... I think that is light spill on his left hand...

For me, ryhtme is mathematics, so it's not my cup of tea, i'm more easy with melodic work on guitare, piano, saxophone etc... But i have to say Mario's drum solo videos are very interesting even to me

You see Buddy really enjoying himself here partly because he loved playing with Johnny Carsons band and they were serious professionals no slop no mistakes. But dont be fooled, Buddy could be a really nasty guy because he always gives 110% but if the band hes playing with - even his own band - doesnt measure up he was well known to get nasty and really tear into them after a gig. There are tapes from their tour bus of Buddy viciously tearing his band guys apart because they didnt play well as he demanded on a particular night. By the same token, if his band played really well he let them know he was pleased, the quality of the performance was very serious to Buddy and it showed in his work.
