“Canadian Sunset” played by Jo Ann Castle (1964)
From the 1964 Lawrence Welk Vacation Show. One of my favorite Jo Ann Castle boogie woogie arrangements- while simple, she takes a 1950’s Welk stabdard and plays it only like she can. Footage Courtesy of Lawrence Welk LPs (youtube.com/@LawrenceWelkLPs?si=N2Ke-BuuRcmp_J6a). Enjoy!

As a child I was mesmerized by Jo Ann playing the piano. I'd never seen anyone so animated, and smiling, smiling, smiling. "How does she do it?" Glenn Gould, by comparison was dourly fixated on his keyboard. No discernible recognition of the venue he was playing in.
Yesss!
I never missed Joanne's ragtime and boogie music! Loved her!
How is she doing these days? Haven’t heard of Jo Ann in years
Kathlyn Williams actually has a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, but I've never been to Hollywood. Definitely going to have to check out more of Williams's work. This short film is quite watchable, and it's very well-paced.
Amazing 😊
She looks like a real barby doll 😅
Nice 😊
Great😊
So, hot air balloons were a thing at the beach before paragliding, I guess. Impressive that Mabel Normand actually lowered herself down that rope!
Brilliant film.
Goooooood stuff!
Is it windows default soundfont?
Sublime
Great Rag😊
It was interesting that Spade would use the terminology "Beat this thing half way to death".
Thanks for posting this! Hey did YOU play the music? I just noticed your picture with a piano.
WOW! Loved this! Encore! PS Haven't had a perm in years, maybe now's the time?!
That's a really fun movie and your accompaniment even added some musical gags!

Sent a 📹 of her playing to my grandson and he commented, grandpa she didn't even look at the keys. Yes Sir that's how quality does it.
THE top piano player of all time! ❤️ 2:06
Jo Ann has gotta be the best boogie woogie piano player ever.
OK! COOL VIDEO
Got the deck open for more percussion. Dude was a Rock-n-Roller old school. Cool.
Such a happy inspiration for all musicians young and old thick and thin she has been able to it all greetings from southern Ontario Canada thanks 😊

I'll most likely come back to this often. It's not on any album. Thanks again for posting Omar!! It's a total win!
I remember this that very Saturday night that it was played back in 1967 . I was at my grandparents house and I was so impressed with it I never forgot it . Been waiting for it to show up . Thanks !
That’s awesome, never seen this ever. Good memories, but I have to admit this one is a bit different lol!!!! Love Joann. Days gone by. I was born in 1970 ,,,, didn’t learn of Joann until maybe early 90s.
It's been a long time since I have seen this one! Thanks, Omar for posting!
She had mean left Hand😊
Great Performance She Made One Lousy Record Was The Hawaiian Record😊
Yet Pearly Shells is, at least, one of my favorites that she plays. I really like her version of it.
wow really?
❤❤❤👍👍👍👍 I had decided that I'd never see this again!!! This made my day. Thank you so much for posting. 😊😊😊
Love her. You know her hands and arms were strong to hold out for playing.
Omar, in THIS video clip, she mentions being the queen in a Disney themed show. I saw that video once in the 80s....i remember it to this day. She plays Whistle While You Work. Do you happen to have that video clip? If you do.... I beg of you!! Please please post it!!! 😁
Hi! I do have it. I’ll post it tomorrow!
@omar_rasidagic That just made my day!!!! I've waited decades....literally.... to see that again! 😁😁😁👍👍👍 Thank you SO very much. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I can never get enough 4 Leaf Clover!!! Absolute love that song.
She really knows how to tickle those ivory's.
The best number one Boogei Woogei player.
And that’s why they call her the queen of the Ragtime piano. Jo Ann Castle was a boss sitting at that piano bench!
This song was released on her Yellow Rose of Texas album produced by Ranwood Records. I still have my original copy of that album. I may have played it countless times 😁
I have been lucky enough in life to have met Jo Ann personally on two occasions. Last time was in the early 90s at a concert in Vegas. Got my picture with her. Love these posts!
This is one of my favorite performances by her and this song was never included on any of her albums. Thanks for posting this one!!!
Fantastic Video 😊
Hot damn. Now that is some energy
