I don’t understand why the sword is seen as the dishonorable option. First off, were pirates ok we don’t have honor. Second, double-gunning doesn’t feed the pirate fantasy.

A useful tip for killing phantoms is that they are guaranteed to die to any shot other than a blunderbuss shot. I recommend using a pistol and double barre pistol to quickly kill them, as they have the shortest reloads in the game

Not catching mast can be very risky though and is not always the best route

If houglass matches get more players they need to add a skill based match making

As someone whose played this game for years on end, I want all the new pirates to know that you WILL be sunk. You will lose HUGE loot hauls, miss exciting events, and you will get cursed out. My mast went down like 3 times in one battle and I quickly recovered escaped repaired and went back to the fight then I downed his mast did a bit of damage to him boarded him and won. He would have won if he had the confidence to board but he never did that was also my first actual solo sloop PvP match

I like how the new throwing knives have worse mobility than the sword even though they are the lighter weapon? You can't even hop while charing the heavy attack you are reduced to a crawl everytime you actually want to use this weapon.

I sorta did the same both my mast went down but i borded their ship killed them and my 2 other freinds fired canons into their ship (they had the gold phantom curese)

Did they increase the speed that you can reload cannons? I haven't played in almost 2 years. This looks very different from what I remember

As someone that is mediocre in sot pvp(Servants of flame 283), I don't spend as much time on sot anymore nor do I play on adventure mode, but I've had a few encounters with bigger boats, a couple of them on duo and a couple of them on solo. These may help for sloop fights but I'm unsure about brigs v galleons. One of the most important part is to be patient as a smaller crew. On opening broads where neither boats have significant disadvantage, you DON'T want to be at a close broad, I.e within chainable distance. This has worked out the best for me as me and my crews are relatively confident with midrange to far broad. Keeping distance is usually done by actively being on helm and keeping fullsail. Since you are at such a disadvantage, you should go for boards often. Boards are extremely useful as they give the enemy crews something to think about, as well as gauging the skill level the enemy is(As Cpt Squiddy said). Also just straight up lets you win if the skill disparities are big enough. If the enemy is competent enough, your best bet is to just stay from afar and hope they make a mistake, or you out pressure them. Sometimes it just doesn't work out, whether it is that the enemy is just good or whatever it is. It is a bigger crew we are talking about after all. Another tip I find interesting, one that is kind of not used by a lot of mid tier helms. Sometimes it is better to just not deathspiral. A lot of the times you can get away with sitting diagonally to a galleon and get side/front cannons without fear of broad. You don't need to deathspiral if it can get the job done. If they turn, you start moving and get behind them. Even better if the wheel is hit. When fighting brigs, I find it easier to effectively hold down cannonline and pressure but it is still good to be careful. Staying infront of boat presents opportunity to one ball or cause enemies to backsplash. This strategy should be done when you are sure that the enemy have enough pressure or can't shoot you back. I would say this one is an "advanced" tip because pretty much no brigs/galleons I've fought in adventure mode knows how to actually tank. Also! Abuse blunderbombs. Abuse them a lot when fighting big boats, it gets them off cannons.

Im a fairly new player who only just bought a sloop and i had to deal with 4 people on a galleon trying to kill a solo plauer whos only just bought their own ship. People in this game kinda suck at times

i started less than a month ago and i've seen 6 krakens: 1 in the distance fighting someone else, 4 that i've died to, and 1 that i killed before i did shores of gold recently. they don't give the best loot though. i've killed 2 megs and they gave way better loot

Top PvP Tip: Don't. Run away from everyone. If you have no loot just scuttle immediately. Don't give them the satisfaction.
