Just wow. Although I wasn't able to drive the car for too long, boy did it leave a great first impression. The highlight of the X1 was definitely the engine and how connected the car felt to the road. BMW's are supposed to be the ultimate driving experience, and they kept that in mind when they made the X1

SV650: How to use the passenger seat WITHOUT rear handle!
I’ve heard in earlier years obd eleven or VCDS can lessen or turn this feature off but, in 2024 they locked it out. My 2024 Jetta GLI has it and it is horrendous, want it off. It has stalled me 3-4 times when trying to make a quick pull away! The one thing I absolutely hate about the car. I have been driving manuals since I was 4 yrs old. I was raised on a farm. I am nearing 45 and this noob feature needs an off switch!
@@JSAsher I agree with the need for the ability to turn it off rather than it be mandatory. I hope you find a solve!
2011 Mazda 2 cars are sold between 13800 USD and 18600 USD in Turkey. The minimum wage is 2.6 USD per hour net.
I wish I had the standard, but kiddo I couldn’t pass the deal up I think my wife paid 7000 and change we picked one up garage kept the bolts that hold the shocks and the springs still have the stickers on them. Anywhere you look on that car underneath doesn’t even have surface rust. It’s an amazing thing. The car has 54,000 miles on it. We just need a second car because my wife’s car got stolen and we weren’t looking for excitement. We were just looking for wheels, always remember wheels are better than heels.
Much appreciated, happy to see the setup before getting into this job
i just bought a used 2011 Mazda 2. so far i put about 2,000 miles on it and it’s been great! bought it to keep miles off my nice car
Nice! I originally purchased mine to be economical as I didn't drive much, but I kept it longer than any other car because it was surprisingly fun and just kept going along with pretty much no issues. Enjoy!
Can you tell me where to buy or size of the bolts and spring?
If I remember correctly, I think I went to Oreillys auto and brought one of the old bolts and purchased a universal kit that was similar in size.
Appreciate!
Nice honest review Mike. I'm looking at one for a commuter car (work and back) and think this might be the answer. Cheers from Aus.
Did you have a check engine light too? I have a p0421 code on (for catalytic converter)

Man I wish every car review was like you, funny and hilarious on accident but also very informative! Thanks for sharing
How do turn it off it’s annoying af
I have a golf
A bit of a late comment. But what did it take? Just unscrew the bolts from the back under the seat? Or do you need to cut the handle off, or modify something under the seat?
No cutting. If I recall correctly, the bolts you see in the video are the same bolts that hold down the handle. I just reused the existing bolts to attach the bungee.
@@MikeVT Thanks for the quick response man wow💪
Seriously the engine has 200ftlbs of torque? I don’t understand your critique
This was 6 years ago, but I'll do my best thinking back. My critique may have been the low end torque right off the line before the turbo started to help. In reality, nothing specific to this car, but more relative to smaller 4 cylinder engines. The comment I made in this video may have a bit of recency bias since my car prior to this was an old 6 cylinder BMW which had more pep right off the line at low rpm. If I drove my current car with a non-turbo 4 cylinder engine prior to the Golf, it might have been a different story with the Golf being much better. Thank you for your comment, Greg. Drive safe!
Nice to see you're still rocking the Mazda 2. How's it doing now??
It's still kickin! Pretty much issue free and approaching 151,000 miles.
I'm looking at one used . Good to hear it's holding up. The subframe still looks good and the exhaust looks decent. I'm in the rust belts so your car's looking pretty good considering. From the glimpses I got
@@nashsmith3005 Don't get me wrong, it's a PIA to work on with rusty bolts and parts, but what isn't? I would imagine the sub frame would rust out before the engine quits. Still runs strong. It's been a fun little car for me -- especially with the 5 speed.
What mpg did you get roughly driving like a grandma
I don't really try to drive efficiently but I get around 30 mpg mixed city/highway
Your handsome my dude
Hi, Mike I like this video because my Mazda 2 DE petrol 2008 is squeezing the muffler exhaust pipe because the exhaust pipe gasket need to change, if you don't mind I want to see the full video how to replace the gasket, I'll wait for new upload video regarding exhaust pipe gasket thank you very much and Godbless.
my mazda 2 1.5 petrol get me from 0 to 60 in 10 seconds and I can embarrass loads of drivers when pulling of from traffic lights :D So I don't get you why you tell any other car would be faster. I live in UK.
What do you do with the cars
Its car your mom
Looks like this mazda 2 has been parked deep in salt water for a time,.seems like its very rusty for a 2011 car,.the whole body looks rusty.
Haha it practically was. Here in Vermont, salt and brine are used heavily on the roads during the winter months.
Im thinking of getting a manual golf 7 tsi, to avoid the potential problems with the DSG gearbox as here in Australia we get the dry dsg variant. Any opinions on this?
If you don't have continuous stop-and-go traffic, the manual is fun. Even though the dry DSG isn't known to be the most reliable, that doesn't mean you definitely shouldn't buy it. I really like DSG transmissions, but with the smaller engine, I personally find it more fun with a manual trans. It takes your mind off of how slow it is and actually 'feels' quick.
Good video man! Keep uploading
What if nothing works? Would it be the blower motor or the resistor?
Great question. I'm no mechanic, but here is what I might be inclined to do: First, I would start to check fuses since that is easy and cheap. Next, I would see if replacing the resistor fixes it since it's not that expensive and quite easy (although I think that could be less likely since nothing works at all). Lastly, yes, the blower motor might be it. I'd probably bring it to a trustworthy independent mechanic and get their advice. If anyone else in the community has input, let's help Natalie out.
@@MikeVT Thank you for your reply! Will defo start with fuse!!
2014 X1, WHAT ENGINE, 4 OR 6 CYL?????????????
straight 6 in this one
i have a 28i X1 and dynamics are way better than any front wheel drive car. I Spend a lot of time in the car due to a 1 hour commute each way to work and I haven't gotten tired of the car.
That's awesome! Glad you like your x1.
Good to know! I’m also considering one for 1 hour commutes each way
@@jwhdesignsame, did you end up purchasing?
@@graceluke_ no unfortunately I noticed some ‘red flags’ about the particular X1 and the dealer. Ultimately I decided to get a used EV.
I’ve got what sounds like a loose heat shield rattling and I can’t find where it’s coming from for the life of me. It’s also a 2011 Mazda 2
If it sounds like it's coming from the front, it might be the exhaust manifold heat shield(s) like you can see in the video. The way they are positioned after completely detached, mine only rattled at certain RPM's which made it difficult to identify until I was under the car.
@@MikeVT so it was your exhaust manifold heat shields for sure? I’m gonna put it in neutral and have someone rev it a little. It sounds like it’s coming from the front but have no idea where! It’s annoying af
@@codythomas3586 All of the other heat shields are properly secured. They were loose at one point, however, I drove some self-tapping screws in with washers to secure them for good (hopefully will last longer than the car is on the road). But the exhaust manifold heat shields were completely detached from their mounting brackets for me -- just completely rusted out and freely resting on the top of the catalytic converter/manifold.
I’m getting like 30 /100 km
Def have a leak I think it’s also this in the front because car sounds quiet but fuel economy bad
How do you change the blower motor?
I haven't dug that deep, otherwise I'd be happy to let you know! Here is some information on a reddit thread I found: www.reddit.com/r/MechanicAdvice/comments/5cqnwo/mazda2_how_to_get_to_blower_fan/d9ylohi/. Good luck!
@@MikeVT i just did my blower motor. You get to it under the driver side floor under the dash. It was a b*tch, have to pull brake booster out a bit and remove brake and gas pedal. Then remove the bracket that brake pedal, gas pedal and booster is bolted to. Youll have enough room to take out the blower motor. The new motor blows more than the old motor when it was still working.
@@toycoma98 Thanks for reporting back! Glad you could get it working (even better than before!)
Im looking to get a z400 soon. but I was considering this thing
My car also has hill start assist. it's a little lever you pull between the two front seats
There is an upgrade to the rear engine mount. That might be the sound you’re hearing. I have the same thing on my Mazda 2. There’s a guy on TH-cam that says, the five must mods for Mazda 2 So I am going to try that rear mount, it’s more stiff than the stock one that’s more like a rubber band.
that's cheaper than my kia maintenance i've spent almost 2 grand in 3 years
the cars got too much body roll going around corners.
Anyone with experience please respond :....I worry that the 150 has such a skinny tire on front : specs say 80/80-16 front 100/80-16 rear....My Piaggio 50 Fly has 120/80-12's......and they don't feel secure on potholed city roads , or especially gravel country backroads. I would love the taller wheels for back roads and trails, but that skinny size is a concern.
Does anyone know if there is a front shock and or fork upgrade for a fata wheel
Nice little Mazda. I have a question is this little car good for tall drivers? I’m 6’3. The reasons why I ask is I was considering one of these as a daily driver and this car seems to fit the bill for me. I sat in the Honda Fit as well and it has plenty of headspace considering my height. I’m hoping this little Mazda is the same. Cheers and be well!
did you get one? i'm thinking about it too but i'm only 5'5"

12:15, this entire review so far has been enjoyable but your facial expressions here absolutely sent me. You should do comedy. Thank you for posting this.
Why are you comparing a Jetta with a golf ??
Love this car... I am NOT a race driver, just love how it looks and I am looking for a manual car. And it's not one that you see much on the roads...!
I currently drive a 2013 hyundai genesis coupe 2.0t . I'm currently looking for a commute daily drive car and this car is definitely starting to sway me to get it . It reminds me of my old honda fit which i loved
The mk7 base model golf is an incredibly good value for money, and are super fun cars with a few basic mods.
Awesome hack! I did it right after removing my handle. Solid as a rock.
If you think this car is scary, you should drive my vintage 1971 Super Beetle. It has 52 horsepower and does 0-60 in 35 seconds. It also has a gas tank in the front holding 12 gallons of gas with drum brakes. I think the Mazda 2 is actually a pretty good value. I bought mine because I felt it was the closest thing to a classic VW bug. This is the car that VW should have copied when they reintroduced the bug in 97. The new bug was too expensive and had a lot of stuff that is not necessary for basic driving. I love the Mazda 2 gas mileage and handling.
