    You learn more from losing than winning. That's what learning is, after all; not whether we lose the game, but how we lose and how we've changed because of it, and what we take away from it that we never had before, to apply to other games. Losing, in a curious way is winning.You learn more from failure than success. In failure you're forced to find out what part did not work. But in success you can believe everything you did was great, when in fact some parts may not have worked at all

      @theunluckycharm9637 that's an assumption that could be made. However, I find that both men and women have a tendency to see in others what they would like to see. And have expectations to match their own view of that person.

    I don't really see how having a relativist perspective on trust or anything else for that matter helps anyone in society. But I suppose it's the rage and the fad to couch everything in therapy language... Some of this definitely sounds like it comes from somebody who has a general worldview in which objective truth doesn't exist.. And the most offensive thing is to believe that you or anyone else can come to some kinda rational conclusion. Sorta of like a hippie, "live and let live" sort of philosophy that lets circumstances become such to the extent that someone like a Charles Manson type character is allowed to become what he became.

      Thank you for your response. I truly appreciate you adding to the conversation. My focus for this video is on interpersonal relationships with those closest to us personally. In terms of relative perspective, when we deal with those closest to us we do tend to take a subjective rather than an objective approach to dealing with and interacting with them. Now are there universal standards for trust morally and ethically when dealing with business/financial relationships, corporations, and other individuals we have an objective relationship with, yes. But that is not the type of trust that was the focus of this video.

    Very well said. I just ended a friendship of 2OnePlus years and and I still think about that person every day. I just couldn't go through the pain and deal with the drama anymore. Known this person over half my life. It became a part of my family. They know my cousin's aunt's uncle's grandparen't. You used to stay at my grandparents house. But when my grandmother passed 2 years ago, they couldn't make it to the funeral. And that's when I decided that. I no longer want this person apart of my life no matter if our children both grew app together seeing each other all the time. I just can't do it anymore. And this really helped me get over that hill of. Trying to make amends with them because it has been almost 2 years since I have stopped talking to that person and my life has been better. I just wish that they were able her and her daughter. To be a part of my daughter's life.But things just didn't work out that way. I tried to make amends while I was pregnant. But it seems like she didn't cand I couldn't deal with that anymore. I still love her and her daughter. I just can't deal with all the BS from the ex best friend

      A break of trust from someone that you love so dearly can be hard to believe and handle. One of the hardest things to do is to walk away from a relationship that you feel is more damaging than healing or caring. I applaud you for doing what you felt was needed for you!

      Thank you for sharing. I hope that you are exposing yourself to these places and things in a safe and non-threatening/damaging way. The ultimate goal for exposure to previously avoided trauma triggers is to untrain the learned fear response to something that is not dangerous or harmful (i.e. being in the grocery store, going to the park, etc.).

    I really enjoyed this video! Alberta (where I live) is one of the only provinces in Canada where people can become a Registered Psychologist with a graduate degree and the degree doesn't necessarily need to have psychology in the title. For example, people can register as psychologists in Alberta and use the title of 'Registered Psychologist' with a Master's of Counselling. However, most Canadian provinces require a PhD level of education from an APA or CPA approved program. At this time, there are so many unregulated titles here (life coach, therapist, counsellor, etc). It's interesting to learn about the criteria to become a Psychologist in different provinces/states.

    • @drcheekpsyd
      @drcheekpsyd 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's really interesting. I have strong doubts that there will ever be a universal standard around titles, but at least people will know to check now. Hopefully!

    • @drcheekpsyd
      @drcheekpsyd 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cognitive dissonance is neither good nor bad, it's the psychological discomfort we feel when we learn new information that conflicts with old information. However, engaging in self-deception to relieve the discomfort and to justify holding onto old problematic beliefs/information can be concerning
