You are so amazing in how you create these beautiful roses!!!
Thank you! I hope Love's Light fills in and does great for you this year!
Duane, thank you for making this video! I purchased your “Loves Light” and I wonder if you can tell me who her pollen parent is? I thought it was Chinook Sunrise, but now that I saw you used Olivia Rose as a pollen parent, I’m curious if she and Claire parented Love’s Light? Wonderful of you to be doing the work that you are! Can’t wait to see more magical roses that you create! ❤️🌹❤️
@@frederichegray1908 thank you! I believed the pollen parent was Chinook Sunrise, but there is a possibility (maybe even probability) it was Olivia Rose Austin. It is more cold hardy than Claire or Olivia, however, which would support My original belief. Maybe someday it can be tested to be certain.
@ oh how exciting! I noticed in your video that it seems to have an iridescent sparkle to the petals-is that my eyes playing tricks, or do you see it in real life as well?
@@frederichegray1908 it is better in real life: incredibly luminescent when the light hits it. The fragrance is as wonderful as the looks of the bloom. Winning combination! Of course I might be considered biased LOL!
@@duanesroses fantastic! I can’t wait to see her blooms and smell her fragrance for myself! 🤩
I forgot to tell you, I made Del watch this, yes i'm evil, and he perked right up when Sweet Love came on screen and said 'that's my rose'!!! For a pretty much non flower person to say that they really like it! He is more of a hardy hibiscus fan. They keep the gardens from looking too monoculture though! Maybe you will find a Blackberry Merlot in your delivery some day. If you don't have room give it to a friend and enjoy it in their garden!
Sweet Love certainly catches the eye, and it has been an excellent performer. Should be one of two or three available next season from High Country.
Good day! Wonderful roses! Very beautiful! I want have Love's Glow and Love's Light roses in my garden in Belarus ❤
Thank you!!!
wonderful to watch on a snow covered night in Oregon, OH
Could sure use some roses right now!!!
@@duanesroses any seeds showing slight sprouting? Maybe yellow or purple rose moms?
@@country_zone6b I'm getting ready to go through the seeds for the second time: first was to switch paper toweling to get rid of mold and rinse the seeds. No cracking or signs of germination at that time. Hopefully this time I will find the earliest ones starting. I do a little at a time, so took weeks to go through them all: I had better be faster the second and third times LOL!
I hope you find this interesting! Feel free to ask any questions that you might have.
Those are interesting,, some of those I have not seen before. I have to try PCDM... I live in central south florida and I have to have tons of petals because everything blows open here,,, anything with less than 40 petals will blow open within 1 day and fry. To it has to be a strong petaled blossom.
@@ChuckStorey see if you can find local information on it, if you can. I’ve read it grows very large in warmer climates, compared to how it has here. Might be worth checking around. It is lovely and fragrant!
Saw what I thought were your roses at High Country and had to check your channel to make sure. When do you think High Country will be selling Duane"s Delight or Lovely Lady?
@@agbtg6292 Lovely Lady is there now (one of three being propagated for next season, if all goes well). Duane’s Delight I am rooting cuttings of right now: still deciding whether to send them in now or have them tested in a few more locations first. If I have enough plants I may do both, as it will take an extra season for them to get numbers enough to propagate for sale.
@@duanesroses Something to look forward to. Thanks for the quick reply and keep up the good work.
@ thank you!
I just ordered Love's Light today on High Country's website. I am looking forward to it being shipped in a couple of months
@@allforroses wonderful! I hope it brings you a lot of joy!
A video of pure delight bud! You help push depression or the blues away like a ray of sunlight!!!🌹☘🌞☀
Thank you! I found myself liking yellow and apricot colored roses a lot more when we moved and started having much longer winters. The splash of color is sure a bright spot! One joy in having seeds germinate is knowing there will be a bunch of baby rose blooms to see in late winter and through spring.
Exciting!
I hope you enjoy! These two roses go on sale at High Country Roses January 10th 2025.
Looking forward to purchasing your roses from High Country.
@ thank you! I hope they bring you as much pleasure as they have brought to us over the years!
They are both lovely!!!❤
Thank you very much!
@duanesroses, so High Country Roses sells your named roses in the US?
@ these two so far. They have several more that should be ready next year.
Most excellent!
I hope you enjoy!

If people enjoy this one, I could do others like this one also.

@@allforroses excellent! I'm already thinking of one related to Claire Austin. Also I'll think about cold hardy ones: far fewer successful as seed parents.

I always love your videos!!! They make me feel good if i'm having a bad day, i just watch about an hour of Duane videos and i'm feeling good again! I'd love to have Evelyn again but not really into English for the most part due to black spot in our region. I honestly believe we have the most virulent strain of black spot in the US or Europe. Yellow Submarine even has a very slight case of it, tho i think some may be sun scorch due to drought. We had 4 good down pours last night so hoping that helps. Oh you will be getting a surprise in a few weeks so look for that box.🌹🌹🌹
@@country_zone6b thanks! Great to get rain finally. I will be curious to see how Love’s Light deals with your blackspot. So far in Carolina (another haven for blackspot) it is spot free. Time will tell.

Love’s Light is my favorite. It has an iridescent quality to it.👍😊
Thank you! It is very special to us! It is even better in person than a picture can capture. So glad it is going to be available now!
Hi Duane, you have provided an outstanding video here. The quality of the roses is extraordinary. All in high health. They are well photographed and better than most,l think. In New Zealand we have a number of American roses but I am not familiar with the ones in the video. Our catalogue of available roses seem to come from Europe and many NZ roses of course. Because of the quality of the roses and video l will subscribe. Just a note re identification. It might help to say if they are summer flowering or repeat flowering, thorn type, height , width and maybe the petal count. The roses are superb. I am looking forward to future videos. Cheers Duane. From John in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Did you spray the leaves with Pledge!!?? Good grief they are shiney! You have been on Instagram too much. Next you will be misting your roses before you video them! 🤣🤣
@@country_zone6b LOL it does have shiny leaves: they have been healthy here too. I’ll be interested to see how they do elsewhere, especially in crazy blackspot places; you know, those places some people dare to live.
@@duanesroses Oh thanks a lot! Ill tell you now, a Keith Zerry rose that doesn't get black spot is shocking! Esp. with Golden Celebration as a father! Golden Zest is still as free from black spot as the day I planted it! No blooms yet, as it seems to be building up size. I think its the only 2024 rose that has not bloomed. So 2025 will be its year to bloom im sure. I'm not sure your wife likes to hear that your Love is Confused tho! hhhmmmmm, we shall see.

Strong, anise, apricot or peach, citrus, clove, myrrh, violets fragrance. 100 to 120 petals. Average diameter 4". Large, very full (41+ petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped-to-flat, old-fashioned, quartered bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Rounded buds. Medium, upright, well-branched. Large, glossy, dark green, leathery foliage. 5 to 7 leaflets. Height: 47" to 4¼' (120 to 130cm). Width: 39" to 47" (100 to 120cm). USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
