can we just awknowledge the legwork Marian must have done to teach Harold music stuff so he could actually train the band. I'd watch endless hours of Marian training Harold Pygmallion style.

No one could match Robert Preston's delivery in the 1962 version. Although he gives it his best, Matthew can't compete and comes across rather flat and unconvincing. Too gentlea face to be a huckster 😄

I was cast as Marian, even though I was 71 at the time. Eventually, I was recast as the third tuba... The instrument, Not the player.
