    This is so really sad, I feel for you big time Jose...! My 2014 M5 Comp (UK) with 12,000 miles died last month (complete electrical brain fade everywhere). If it had have been a plane it would have fallen out of the sky. Currently researching everything. (you have a new sub 🙏)

    Question, prior to your engine sesing, when you changed your oil, did you also drain the approximately 1.2 quarts of oil still left in the oil cooler? This often gets over looked and you never truley have a fresh oil change, dealers will only drain the engine oil. Do you think this plays a role in bearings spinning?

      If you are rebuilding the engine I recommend a completely new oil cooler and replace every hose the oil touches. If you're doing an oil change I wouldn't worry about draining the radiator. Whatever oil amount is in there will be circled with the Nex oil change.

    Appreciate ya spilling the tea and still looking forward to watching the build and maintaining content. I have a built engine after having gone through 2 oem spec engines. Now my M6 is back in the shop for the clutch, I work at sea doing Space/Defense work so I cannot always do the work so time does not always permit. Getting to learn from the community is always helpful. Wishing you much success.

    Man, that is a heck of a drive to and from Merritt Island. Is he taking 50 or 528? We moved from Tampa to Merritt Island but I have been considering the Otown area.

    Hey brother I own a 2013 m5 it shut off on me the other day while I was cruising on the highway didn’t have any signs of a knock or failure. When I try to start it it just clicks could you tell me if it’s just locked up or something else

    Nice work brother. Congratulations you deserve it. Brother I’ve got an f10 m5 in Monte Carlo blue and was wondering if you can help me. I purchased the race oil valve cooler and wanted to install it and couldn’t find it anywhere near the oil filter. Is it inside the sump?

      Yeah that would be inside the upper oil pan. The lower oil pan needs to come off. Let me know if you need any help.

    Man as a f90 owner I am fearful. I can only imagine the moment you found out. I wish I was mechanically inclined enough to do this much work myself in the unfortunate event this happens, but I don’t even have the tools to do it even if I wanted to try. Consider yourself blessed for having the means, knowledge and willingness to tackle such a job. Truly inspiring.

    Question would the 2017 s63 M5 motor with it's technical upgrades, swap into a 2013 m5 manual???

      In terms of hardware I believe so! They are very similar. Not sure how the ECU would work.

    My e90 n46 went out early2023 the same way .I drove it to the mech who told me to get a replacement engine and the new engine much better a new breath of life. no issues with this one

    I'm rollin in a '15 F10 M5 CS s63tu. At 65k and starting to sweat a little on repairs. I totally appreciate what you're doing, as I plan to do my own wrenching as well. I will never sell this car, so much love for M5! Keep wrenching and recording my man, we need you.

    Love the vids on the rebuild! Question… what are you using for a rebuild reference? Where do you get all the torque specs/ step by step type information… I assume your not just doing this by the seat of your pants? Keep the rebuild vids coming? It’s going to be so fulfilling once it is done! Proud of your for taking the step into the unknown!

    Do you have a full list of all the parts you need for the oil pans install, I’m looking to re-do my rod bearings. & i know all the bolts need to be replaced and torqued when installed. Also, where did you purchase ista-d from?

      Dude is documenting the rebuild of his personal f10 M5 motor that just happened to blow a motor , I highly doubt he plans on purchasing an n63 car purely to make content

    Thanks for the video! Would love to see a technical video on the valves... and more in depth video clips on the engine rebuild instead of pictures! I am thankful for the clip of the oil pump as it confirms rumors that the S63TU uses a different upper oil pan (with an oil pump chain tensioner). The N63, S63 and N63TU1 all require periodic dropping of the lower oil pan to adjust the tension of the oil pump chain since it doesn't have a chain tensioner like your S63TU.

    This is definitely a bucket list thing for me. I have been through 2 engines in my M6 GC. Both have been done by an engine builder. The first was stock and the 2nd is forged. If you still have it open please consider replacing the rods with aftermarket. My stock rebuild left me stranded last July 4th out by Sanford. You speak the truth about the Inline 6. We have 3 BMW's N55, N63TU and my M. The inline 6 has been a great car. The other two are great cars but will bleed you dry but I still enjoy them.

    I have an F10 M5, with 80k miles. Got it at 19k miles and it has been flawless so far. Tuned since 20k miles. Doing injectors and valve cover gaskets right now. Knock on wood it doesn’t spin the bearings. But from what I know its mainly due to long oil change intervals. I only run amsoil 5w-50. Kudos to you for tackling this job

    Very nice video I like all the in-depth details about torque specs and how you put things together for the bottom man. What made you go with ACL rod bearings over king? And did you get rod bearings that are slightly smaller so there is more oil film between the rod, bearing and the crank?

    You should by tesla model 3 standart range with rear wheel drive. Amazing car! traded-in my F10 BMW with tesla and never looked back. Its not worth your time fixing that oil burning trash can.

    Did you analyze why the engine failed on one piston in particular? Bent rod? This is a common issue on tuned F90s. I heard f10 engines suffer from rod bearing failures but always figured it was too long oil intervals or owners not topping up. What was your oil change interval and did it require top ups between changes? It definitely doesn't look like an oil pump failure since the other rods were not wiped out as well. I apologize for asking so many questions but it is always wisest to learn from other people's mistakes :)

    Hey brother that’s for you video. So I have a BMW 2014 M5 with 63,000 miles. The car is bone stock do you think I should change my rod bearings? I don’t drive the car that hard but you know sometimes I push it. BTW I don’t think you stupid for self diagnosing you car because obviously it’s cheaper to figure it out yourself and the F10 M5 is a beautiful car that we should keep on the streets.     I think its better to do the rod bearings before 90k miles. I did some research, checked out accidental auction. I noticed that every bmw f10 m5 with such issues have 100k miles and above. I think its best to take care of it as early as possible. I bought a 2013 m5 two months ago with 75k miles, i was trying to make sure am ahead with maintenance. That was the reason for my research.
