Already see u could purchase same supplies from dollar tree for less❤❤ I would think your supposed to paint the binding not the edges, because the paint will just make the pages stick together. Ink would prevent this!

Interesting, but kind of pointless. Unless you display your books pages out. Furthermore, the stencil sponges were the correct items. When stenciling, you just go up and down, not sideways with a brush. And generally you remove the stencil immediately so there is less chance of bleed through.

You could also use cutting boards, or hard cover books instead of wood boards. A ruler would probably work too. Anything stiff, I would assume.

I’ve gotten some of the best books of my life at Dollar Tree. I also became friends with authors whose books I found there. The authors all went on to send me signed and foreign editions of their books! The special editions I have that are so rare because of these friendships are wild. I now have read all of their books purchased traditionally and let me just say I love all of their works ♥️ I never skip a dollar tree books lol

I painted a few book edges (custom art for the og Percy Jackson series & 1st Thousand Autumns book & just plain gold/silver for 2 other books) but never thought about using stencils!! Such a cool idea!

I bought from this shop in December and had a horrible experience. I got mostly religious books and that's not the category I picked. I got a few paperbacks that looked to be 50 yrs old they were so worn and nothing I wanted to read. The owner was rude and unhelpful. I will never buy from her again. It was a complete waste of money. I'm glad you got better books than I did. I tried it because I have a lot of health problems and spend a lot of time reading. With medical bills I don't have a lot of money for books so it sounded great but didn't work out for me in the end.

You should have painted the background first, before doing the stencil. Use the sponge as well.

theres a lot to getting "sprayed" edges on a book, sanding,blocking,the painting, the clear coat or foil coat, hairspray can be invoived its alot

If you want a design on the page edges, you'd probably do better to use an ink pad and stamps and just clamp the book to keep the pages from shifting.

You could paint the book edge in a background color first and then do the stenciling on top to add even more interest and dimension. I’ve never seen this idea before. Very cool!

Ferryman by Claire McFall is also such a great underrated teen romance series I never hear people talk about! When I first picked it up I didn’t expect to like it that much but I’m hooked, I’m looking forward to reading book 2 and 3. 🩵

I have driven by that Value Center and always thought it was some old abandoned store lol. Apparently I’ve only driven by on Sundays when they are closed! I will definitely make a trek that way to check it out, they had a ton of books! Good thrifting!

I am also collecting Nancy drew-surprisingly I’ve never read them but my girls and I used to play the computer games together and so the books bring back those memories ❤. I have found many of them at our local antique stores for less than $5.
