    I know this is old as but do you just jump in at the lil beach and go snorkeling along the rocks?

    • @insequentways56
      @insequentways56 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can. Just be aware of the sea conditions and the tides. Needs to be on an incoming tide, (preferably around high tide), as the currents can be very strong going out along the V-Wall,; and windy or choppy sea conditions aren't very pleasant. Best too when the water is very clear and not murky. (And avoid dawn and dusk, when the remote possibility of encountering a Bull Shark is greater 😟)

    Medium sized school of mullet (probably getting ready for spawning run) and some luderick. I had heard that luderick often ran with mullet (they are often a by-catch when mullet are netted)

      Thank you for your comment Michael. I guess so long as the proper name is correct, seeing common names can vary all over the place. All the sources I've seen call it the Grey Huntsman, or Sydney Huntsman, but I'm sure you're right with respect to other sources or places.

    I love these. I live in Western Australia & used to live on a rural property where these spiders were everywhere including inside our house. At night they used to sit above the back door near the light ( waiting to catch a moth or two I suspect). I always reminded the kids not to slam the door otherwise you might wear a huntsman! They are fast & the only way I could catch them was to throw a towel over them then put them outside.

      I'm sorry and with all due respect but do you mean you lived with those? As in, intentionally let them be inside your house, where you had your children? You raised your children with those monsters? Were they often big or did you mean like smaller ones?

    I saw many schools of Redtooth Triggerfish in the Maldivian seas. They're the commonest species you can spot if you go for snorkeling and diving. I thought their tail which looks like a crescent moon seems quite visible and symbolic because of the country's religion. There are a lot of mosques on the islands, though I don't know if that was just a coincidence. Possibly they're just one of those native species that naturally occurs in the tropic, or perhaps the Maldivians chose these particular triggerfish to thrive in their seas for some reasons.

      Sorry, just noticed this. I travel with www.diveadventures.com.au/index.php in Sydney. They can usually advise on the state of destinations. I stayed at Paradise Resort Taveuni, and it was great, but the house reef and local reefs had been badly damaged by Cyclone Winston. Some areas of the Rainbow Reef where I snorkelled also had damage. In my opinion Rainbow Reef is more for diving than snorkelling, and I was surprised at the relative lack of fish when I was there.

      Thank you. I found Lord Howe to be the best snorkelling so far, better than Heron Island, although that was also great, especially around the jetty. Lord Howe, being further south, and in a unique position, has the better reef from my experience. It attracts both tropical and temperate species, and locals commented they are seeing more tropical species with global warming.
