    Just did the “oil” change on my Rolla like I usually do but this time, my car started acting funny after the change. My car didn’t want to accelerate and kept lagging when it would. So I came on here to figure out if I f’d up the oil change and realized I drained the damn transmission oil and not the engine oil. So my car has no transmission oil and double the engine oil 🫠 I literally have no idea how I managed to f up this bad 😂😭 Thank God I didn’t go to work and trusted my instinct to figure the problem before worse problems! 🙏🏽

    Wow, I had no idea. This video convinced me without a doubt that paying for an oil change is worth it. Fishing out a 14mm socket, wrench, getting oil on your gloves, shooting it into a pan, recycling it, and all this for something as routine as oil replacement that has to happen occasionally is a joke! It should be no more complicated than twisting a valve on the end of a hose from the side of the vehicle!

    There are two different engines in the 2006 Corolla, one takes 4.4 quarts, and the other takes 4.6 quarts. You don't want to overfill by defaulting to 5 quarts. Overfilling causes froth by the cam shaft hitting the oil and causing foam and which actually reduces proper lubrication. Check the manual and don't over fill above the line on the dipstick.

    • @kurtlicherovsky9908
      @kurtlicherovsky9908 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the oil filter will require a cup that 's .25 of a QT, But you are correct- Don't over fill, some oil will be left behind in the container, best to underfill a little. Run the engine for a few min check for leaks then shut off again wait a few mins then check oil, add or do nothing when oil is near full mark on the dipstick.

    You should replace the oil drain plug gasket ( 9043012031 ) - use parts dot Toyota dot com to get very low price official OEM Toyota parts delivered to the Toyota dealership for pickup - there are tons of fakes now that 99% real in official looking boxes ... don't risk amazon or online or even auto parts stores - many are getting fakes. Also the Toyota oil filter is now ( 90915YZZN1 ). You should turn over the engine and let it rest for 5 minutes and recheck the oil level. The car should be off the ramps as well when checking the oil level. You should also mention that when on the ramps ideally there are wheel chocks behind the rear wheels and the car is in park and emergency brake is on, also, there have been cases when those plastic ramps have collapsed - make sure to the the heaviest duty plastic ramps (eg, the ones for trucks) even then I wouldn't trust them 100% like a proper jack stand or metal ramps. The Toyota engine air filter is 17801yzz03, the charcoal cabin air filter is 87139yzz12, the Toyota left driver side wiper is 85212yzz1jtm and the passenger right side wiper is 85212yzz1dtm. ATF is ATV-IV, 00279000T401, the radiator coolant is 00272SLLC2, the main serpentine belt is 900809113983, the park plugs are 9008091184 / dense SK16R11. Always get your VIN number and check any of these parts I've listed with parts dot Toyota dot com so you get 100% correct parts. I've also had great luck using Costco's Kirkland full synthetic 5W-30 - bob is the oil guy forms like it as well - before always using Mobil-1 full synthetic. I just had my valve cover off replacing a head gasket at 180k miles and it looks brand new in there. parts dot Toyota dot com has the real parts and the prices are often below the crappy third party parts at auto stores and amazon. Check them out.

    I want to say that all the videos that I have seen, installing the oil filter I don’t see that you do not Pour oil inside the filter 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️. Do you know when you turn on the car the first thing the car pull in the engine is the filter oil 🤔 so if you don’t put any oil in it you are getting nothing in the engine.

    • @ShahGAutos90
      @ShahGAutos90 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that is correct. I do not put oil into the filter for most cars. The only time I will is when doing oil changes on large engines with large oil filters and only if they can be installed vertically so it doesn’t make a mess. There is a lot of back and forth about whether you should or should not add oil to the new filter prior to install. My personal preference is to not do it unless conditions I stated earlier. Once again this is my personal opinion not professional, as I am not a professional mechanic. You can do your own research, as I always encourage, and do what you feel is right. I’m just here to provide a simple guide on how you could do this at home, with quality oil, and a bit of your time. Thank you for watching the video and commenting! I do sincerely appreciate it!

    I've been doing my fiance's 08 Corolla oil for a while now, wouldn't it be wise to suggest pulling the car off the ramps first so it's level, also does the 08 Corolla run on normal 5w30 or synthetic because I've been using regular oil and I'm hoping I am not damaging it. It has high miles too, so immaculate look into changing to that. Online on days it takes synthetic but idk

    • @ShahGAutos90
      @ShahGAutos90 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a good point! Oil should be checked once the car has started and pulled off the ramps. Then turn car off let it sit for a minute and check dipstick for an accurate reading. For my Corolla I know 5 quarts will get it to filled once the car runs and is leveled so unfortunately I didn’t include that part. Will make note for future videos! :) I personally like using Mobil 1 High Mileage Full Synthetic on my cars because I keep up maintenance as far as seals/gaskets that need to be replaced and I believe it to be quality oil. This is just my opinion. Use whatever’s up you’d like. This is a highly discussed topic. Just do your research, use quality oil and filter, use the right grade (5W-30 for this Corolla), do it on a timely schedule, and you will have a good running car for a long time!
