That same tungsten micro jig is what I caught my first 2 large Walleye this early ice season. Tipped with a mealworm. Looks fun to get on Whitefish like that.

Try using a Silver/Golden Kastmaster (without the hook) as a flasher, followed by a leader to a Tungsten jig head with 1 or 2 waxies. These fish also love playing hard to get, so you kind of have to finesse them. Jig them up, if they kind of leave, drop the tungsten and you'll see them chase. From there, you gotta keep finessing. They'll eventually bite, or they'll kind of draw a crowd, from there one of them will guarantee a bite lol. I love chasing them just for the finesse.
