I saw this show twice and it was stunning and cant believe it closed so soon

Ten years has passed. I saw it on New Year's Day 2014 in London and absolutely loved it. I think it's the best among ALW's latest scores, the story was interesting and the cast superb. Pity it didn't last longer, but hopefully it will get a revival someday. In the meantime we can at least enjoy the cast recording.

This a great song, well written and beautifully performed. To me, it has always been a hit. In fact, it is one of those hidden gems that I have found only rarely. Thank you Andrew and Joanna.

I would love to get an upload of the full programme, cos at the end ALW plays a tremendous version of the main theme on piano, which isn't avalaible anywhere else!😥😥

Valerie Hobson was born in my town Larne in Northern Ireland and i pass her house everyday.

Who’s the girl who plays keeler here? She and Alexander have wonderful chemistry. This premiered when I was 14 years old (am from the US) and I barely knew about the scandal, so I was too young to notice it. Discovered it after listening to the wonderful 2010 cast recording of a little night music starring Alexander Hanson and the one and only Catherine Zeta Jones. It’s scary how relevant the Profumo affair and it’s lessons (or those failed to learn lessons) are to today’s world.

The real story shook the establishment to the core. This musical couldn't shake a sleeping baby! So bad, but in the right hands could have been amazing.

This show should have been filmed in its entirety and made publicly available.

A fanastically fine song (and singing) to the persecuted Dr Stephen Ward, who,on the whole, was kind. Thank you Lloyd Webder.

I saw Stephen Ward in it's last week or so. Contrary to what you might hear, there was much to enjoy. Joanna Riding was superb as Valerie Hobson and stole the moment with this wonderful song. In context with the scene it was a powerful statement from her.....(Hobson stayed with Perfumo despite the infidelity) ... and she absolutely nailed it. Never liked Lloyd Weber ever since he betrayed Tim Rice but that he, rich and successful should capitalise and profit from this scandalous injustice perpetrated on Ward is pathetic. Better he should use his wealth to expose the truth. But he won't because he benefits from that same decadent society that still exists.

This was actually an excellent and brilliant show. Surprisingly adult and also touching. Hard to believe Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote it, but he did and it should have been a much bigger success than it was.

Love the music on this soundtrack. With the recent BBC series on the subject it should come back for a limited run

Just a 're hash of By Jeeves with not very exciting lyrics for a lightning rod of a story. In better hands this could have been an electric musical x

it's not new or fresh, I watched scandal,carnt people think of new ideas instead of redoing old ones.

Saw Stephen Ward just before it closed. The audience were predominantly 50+ white British - in other words people who remembered or knew about the Profumo affair. Lack of international appeal meant it closed early. Just a theory but the show itself was highly entertaining, dramatic (especially the second half) and the musical score soared . I hope it's revived in the future.

I'd love a DVD of this. Wonder if they recorded it in full?

Alexander Hanson has a beautiful voice. He would make an excellent Phantom. He has the right voice tone, look, age, and charisma.

God, Alex Hanson is so hot. He was brilliant as Pilate in the Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Tour.

I hear "If Not For Me, For Her" from "The Woman in White". I like this, but it does lack imagination. I love Andrew, because his songs are so singable, but they are also repetitive and recycled. Perhaps he should musically collaborate with another composer to cull a different melody from his brilliant brain.

Saw this during it's short run. Excellent piece of musical theatre, superb performance from Alex Hanson and the rest of the cast, but him in particular. Whoever said very disparaging comments about Don Black's lyrics earlier in the thread frankly don't know what they are talking about. Pity it closed so early but hey, when shows like Thriller are running still in the West End it generally show what the 'general public' want these days - froth with no substance just as long as they know the story and songs on the way IN to the theatre - Not for me. Bring on the next one Andrew/Don/Christopher. Felt exactly the same about the other short lived show of the same time with Tim Rice at the helm - From Here to Eternity - Great show, glad that was preserved on DVD, pity Ward wasn't.
