Should I Set My Thermostat to ON or AUTO? - Comfort Master Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc.
มุมมอง 1232 ปีที่แล้ว
On most thermostats, you can choose between On or Auto for your fan setting. On tells your HVAC unit to run its fans all the time, even when the air isn’t being heated or cooled. Auto means the fan only runs when your air is being treated. It might be a good idea to try a combination of both settings. Try setting it to ON when you are home and AUTO when you’re away. I always tell the customer about the defrost cycle of their new heat pump and what to look for. Frost, steam, a loud bang from the reversing valve changing over and condenser fan not running with a buzzing sound is normal. That greatly reduces unnecessary non billable service calls and concerned customers

    I just had a Defrost Circuit Board go out because I noticed this under conditions that were above freezing and in dry weather; this is normal in mixed sleet or snow and near freezing. I called for service and the defrost circuit board was out.

    If you get 2 to 3 inches or more of ice then guess what? Check defrost mode and put refrigerant gauges on and check charge

    It’s stupid to have to manually switch to emergency heat when outdoor gets into teens. You should be able to set a trigger point then let the controller turn it on when temps get below that point.

    I just installed 2 Infrared lamps for my Mini Split. Aiming them at the outside coils. No more freezing. 250w each lamp. Spread them evenly over the outside condenser. About 5" away. A small roof over the system might also help. Now good down to 20 deg F. I have not tested it lower.

    And how do you set the compressor lockout?

  • @samarch2189
    @samarch2189 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So does turning on emergency heat to "enable", turn on the Emergency heat, or does it just allow the system to use emergency heat automatically when it calls for it due to low temp, defrost cycle etc? Conversely does putting emergency heat to "disable" prevent the system from automatically using emergency heat when it feels the need, or is that just more of a "auto" setting? Also, if the system is using the emergency coils automatically due to low temps of defrost cycle, etc., will the thermostat tell me?

    • @DanBenavidez
      @DanBenavidez 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Enabling the emergency heat mode will turn on the heat strip if/when the heat pump is no longer able to overcome temperatures less than 35 degrees. If the heat pump stops working all together, then you would want to enable it for heat until the unit can be looked at or repaired by a qualified service. It's my understanding also that if you enable Emergency heat mode, it will only use that and run your utility bill up. So no, you should not have to enable it in the settings, it should kick on matically with the setting off.

    My control panel melts after 2h usage. Looks like the cooling stoped when I stop the generator after 2h of run. The heat melts the control panel and deformed it. But it looks like everything is working an can boot up and use the buttons. But it wont start anymore im getting 2800

    Just had this installed. It's the lays user friendly thermostat I have ever used. The e-heat option literally disabled the compressor from being used. Not just enable e-heat for when it gets cold, but fully disables the compressor all time. Why? I have to put in yet another call to service because of this non user friendly UI.

    Thanks for this video. Our generator had not done its weekly self-test in quite a while. After watching your video I found the reset button and noticed that it did not lock in either position but seemed loose. I pulled on it slightly and it came off in my hand. Turns out it was only the rubber cover holding it in place. I then replaced it by folding the rubber cover back over my finger and carefully pushing the switch it until it latched making sure it would stay locked in either position. Replacing the rubber cover proved a bit of a challenge because there's not much of a lip for it to catch on. The generator started fine after the error code was deleted. Thanks again for this straight to the point video.

    Question: I have a new one like shown here(close). We had a storm and my ground faults popped. After resetting that I saw Generator had a red light on. Showed elec. wiring error and I re set it to where it shows ready to run and hours of service (time its been standing by). Have all green lights. It keeps flashing from the screen I spoke of to Hours of service and back to the original screen. Do I need to do something else?

    this is great info. i have this same thermostat and the TEM6 unit so pretty sure it has this functionality but I don't think my installer has a clue about it. Would you be able to do a video for this for dehumidifier function as well. Is there also something he has to do to the unit? I saw another video that was saying something has to be set up on the control board and/or dip switch - so I don't think me doing just the thermostat settings is going to do any good? Any help you can provide would be sooo appreciated. In Tampa with high humidity and can't seem to keep it below 70% hardly ever. Very frustrating after paying a premium for this unit!

    It got down to 24 last night and mine iced up on the outside and inside where the coils are. It got down to 55 in my house, I guess that defrost function didn't work for me, so we slept with extra blankets for sure. I also tried emergency heat and the air coming in wasn't warm at all, it dropped the temp two degrees in the house. That unit is only three years old. I guess I'm gonna have to call the installer that put it in to check the control board, good thing is I have a ten year warranty on the parts.

      When the system ices up inside along with the outside there’s a chance you’re low on refrigerant! (Really can’t be sure without a thorough check ikr)…. But emergency heat should warm the place up!? (If indoor coil has no ice on it!…. May have to run longer to get ice off indoor coil too!?). Especially if you have enough emergency strip heaters in the indoor air handler!(and the thermostat is wired properly!?) What ton heat pump do you have!?!?!? I usually have a certain strip heat for certain tonnage! 1.5 ton air handler 5 kw! 2 tons 7.5 kw! ….2.5 ton 10kw! (3 ton 10-15kw) 3.5 ton 15kw! …4 to 5 ton 20kw strip heat! U may have 3 ton with 10 or less kw!? Check your air handler (outdoor tonnage also) size & strip heat level! I’ve found commercial systems with low to no strip heat! I found a residential house one day with NO STRIP HEAT! I ended up installing 10kw on that houses air handler! They didn’t call back after that either 👍🏽✌️(2.5-3 ton heat pump outside)!
