DONKEY FACTS.
1. A donkey is a member of the horse family. They were first domesticate by humans in Africa and are now used around the world as working animals.
2. Donkeys are very social animals and it’s rare to see them alone. They grow strong bonds with their other donkey or horse friends and will be very sad and distressed if separated.
3. Donkeys have an incredible memory - they can recognise areas and other donkeys they were with up to 25 years ago.
4. Not only are a donkeys ears used to brighten their sense of hearing but they’re also used to keep them cool in hot weather.
5. The donkey's characteristic sound is called braying. The hee sound comes from their inhale (breathe in) and the haw sound when they exhale (breathe out).
