Upgrading my Komatsu WB-150AWS Backhoe by adding a weld on hydraulic thumb. I had to add a two way directional spool valve. after bending the piston I had to add a crossover cushion valve. I explain some of the costs and show how it works picking up logs. This same process can be applied to an excavator as well. I purchased the thumb from Manca and the hydraulics from Summit Hydraulics.

you should put the LSD from the tremor in the front diff on the expy.
If you notice when you put it in 4 high, then switched to snow mode it put it back in 4 auto, that’s my guess why the TC kicked back on.
@@Jason-id8nc that's interesting. Maybe you're right. I'll look out for that.
Can i just block that whole intake with duct tape or weld it with a piece of metal, compleatly shuting it off . 0 fresh air coming in . I know i will be loosing the feature, but i live in a dusty invironment and my car doesnt have any filter, so every time i open the fresh air mode i risk ruining my expensive evaporator . And if i need a fresh air iwill just roll down the windows . So does this process have any effect on the HVAC system?
I was in Moab UT when they were testing the new AT4W’s… So when it was time to install new tires, I bought the 37x12.5x17 AT4W’s for my2019 Jeep rubicon, Love them. Ignore the TH Subaru guy!
I'm having a hard time getting info from people and I appreciate your video. I do not have air suspension just a 2021 bighorn stock with 18's from the factory 275/65r18. I'm trying to figure out if I can slap on a 280/70r18 without any problems. No leveling kits or body lifts. I think I can go with a 275/70r18 but wanted to go a hair bigger.
What you driving a spaceship 😮 late work already 😅😂😅😂
My Subaru Forester would make it through that. And I didn't pay 50,000 or more.
Installed mine last week. 285/45/22 so far so good. Yet to test snow tho. BC canada
Just put those on my truck yesterday! Well 275/65R18
thats why we need pick up truck i guess...
Many TC will disengage when the truck goes over a certain speed. Not wheel speed, vehicle speed
I'm curious to hear updates on the truck! I recently reviewed a 2025 Ram Limited and I loved it, I subscribed to hear updates! I did find the split tailgate didn't always close properly, I really had to slam it sometimes.
If you dont firmly shut the normal tailgate function then the swinging door wont unlatch. Rarely happens but when it does just open up the tailgate and shut it again and then the doors will swing open.
Thanks for making the video especially under those conditions!! I'm sure the drive is worth the home, at least that's been my experience.
Absolutely awsome setup
I don't know if you'll see this, but 2025 is the year I'll be buying. Looking at F150 Platinum for its luxury, comfortable interior and Powerboost engine, the Tremor for its added capabilities including the torsion front diff, or the Raptor (35 or 37 not sure) for its buttery smooth highway drive but still off road capabilities, though am concerned about that added 7"s of width being limiting at times. Am leaning Tremor. Here's a concern about the Raptor. I saw 2 different youtubers say the 2025 Raptor would no longer come with the front torsion diff (presumes it did at some point), but if true am I correct in assuming the Raptor would then lose some capabilities that the Tremor with its front torsion diff would have? Or might the Raptor have some other feature(s) that makes up for the loss of the front torsion diff? Other? Any insights would be welcome. I'm looking for a max luxury, comfortable interior in a go anywhere, anytime, any kind of weather vehicle, stormy, snowy high altitude winter weather a key part given where I live, and it's that front torsion diff that seems to be making a difference to me. It comes with the Tremor but not the Platinum/Platinum Plus or the Raptor. If I do get the P/PP or more likely the Tremor, I am thinking about doing a level with a 2.5-3.5" lift, putting on larger 35 tires, with a bit extra poke, and if appropriate upgrading parts of the suspension with stronger, higher performance parts. Thanks for your answers and input if you can.
@@Nate-zy5ce Ive never driven a raptor but understand they don't come with the front torsen. The main difference for me is that ilI can and have towed 10k lbs with the tremor. I don't think you can or would want to do that with the suspension on the raptor. The tremor is a truck with no downside. It makes no concessions.
@@rpmservice5211 Yeh, that's a good point. Thanks for replying. How smooth and comfortable is the drive of your Tremor, long highway drive especially, still pretty nice? And those seats, comfortable? How about those back seats, comfortable? I know rear pick up seats are designed differently than front, maybe not as long a seat portion, maybe not as comfortable generally, but what do you think, maybe different somehow than others?
It's August of 2024 and I'm fed up with mice urine smell in my cabin filter that I just changed but barely drive the truck. Thank you for the idea
Glad you mentioned that it has a eLSD, all other videos that I have seen simply state that it has a rear locker which is not accurate.
Thanks !
The reason you bent the rod was because when the thumb switch is not activated, it holds the pressure via the summit valve. If it didnt, it wouldnt hold the thumb in place. You need a crossover relief after the summit valve which is what you did. You could have actually just put a single crossover relief right next to the summit valve, and tee'd off the return on the summit valve. Thats what I did, and I have a video about it on my channel from about this time last year. When you have the summit valve activated, the relief valve works...but that doesnt help when your not using it
That's not the case I tired that and it didn't make s difference. The block was not designed correctly. I had to add the bypass valves.
Dude, it did great. Way to keep going. I have a 1/4 mile 15-degree concrete driveway at 9000' in Colorado. I know the feeling of hoping for the best, and being grateful when it works out. Just got my first F-150 FX-4 and looking to add the Detroit Truetrac torsen front diff when I regear to 4.10's. Your video affirmed my hypothesis. Thanks.
Nice real world review
Cool 😎
176" wheelbase?
I believe so. Been a while since I measured but that sounds right
That was awesome lol
I would likely crash mine if I did that lol
So do normal F150 front diffs just act like an open diff? Or are they still capable of turning both wheels at the same time?
Only the tremor has that option. Even the new raptors do not have it anymore.
Normal F150 ft. diffs are open, however, traction control, if employed properly, can brake a spinning wheel, thereby diverting power to the other wheel with traction.
A day he'll remember. Might want to shorten the top link and lower the skids on this surface. With all the rocks I am not surprised you had to replace shear bolts.
Do you use this with 4 lo or instead of 4 lo?
I use mine when I'm in 4 wheel high. I haven't tried just 4-low without HDC.
Thank you for answering. I actually used it this morning. I went ahead and used it with 4 lo, and went down without any trouble.
@@jonipinson6653 I currently have a 2017 Silverado Z-71 with HDC. My previous 2003 Silverado also had Z-71 but not HDC. When I went down my steep slippery driveway, I used to put it in 4 low. It worked pretty good. Tires make a big difference too. I just got rid of the 2017 Silverado's OEM tires for some 3-peak Coopers.
It works in 2wd or 4x4. Just whatever you need for gearing
So which mode you end up using? Mud?
Yes. I didn't realize the wheel was blocking the view.
It sucks that to the untrained eye that doesnt look steep at all but ive done enough off-roading and filming to know that its definitely steep enough! The way that most cameras film makes most grades look very flat. Fantastic video absolutely worth the $500. It seems like a no brainer. *Also i see the NY state tag. Im originally from upstate NY myself and you know just as well as i do how insane our winters can get! Haha.
I'm really not sure what I'm looking at here, what I'm supposed to be seeing different with what you tried to do? But nice looking truck, and nice ability to get up the slippery hill, from a stop part way up to boot.
You're looking at the two front Wheels. In a normal vehicle without locking front differentials only one tire would spin if it loses traction the other tire would not spend and the vehicle gets stuck easier. Some vehicles have locking rears or limited-slip rear differentials and locking front and limited slip. If a tire loses traction and spins in the other one stays without moving or getting any power to it and vehicle gets stuck easier regardless of what electronics they put in there's no better way to do it than with proper differentials.
What do you think would be better in a snow storm, on roads, local and highways, but during a bad storm, Tremor or Raptor, with comparable tires, either real snows or 3 peak rated all terrains? And why?
I’m confused how dragging the tires is better than having them at least try to gain traction. I’m sure there’s science behind it but I ain’t gettin it. Also. Ford needs to come up with a toggle feature to turn off that dang ‘bing bing bong, bing bing bong’ 😂
Same principle as a tracked machine.
Very odd the other relief valve did not pop off to allow thumb piston to move in ? My case 580 has one valve . I think thats a Fermec made in UK? Komastsu put their mane on them. Good machine s
That is an interesting mounting location for the rear arm lift cylinder! Seems that design would limit its lifting capacity.. Cool setup though I have a manual one on a 555e can't do without it now that its there
Hey! how do you like the puma snowblower? I just ordered an 80" for my 60hp massey ferguson. What would you say max throwing distance is with yours on your machine?
I would tell you that if you have any rocks that are larger than inch and a half to 2-inch that are likely to get picked up in your driveway don't waste your money. When it's not breaking a shear pin that works fantastic will throw the snow about thirty to 50 ft. But the design has no relief built into it for rock so they just constantly get jammed up. I have a mile long driveway last year it took me about 4 hours to go down the driveway and I couldn't even finish the job because I broke all ten shear pins that I had
@@rpmservice5211thanks for the info. Do you think I should go up to the p-720-80" commercial grade one!? What do you think of the puma as far as build quality I have been told it's pronovost economy blower.
@@bigtimegolfer3668 nothing to compare it too as this is the only tractor blower I have experience with but not impressed with the engineering...
@@rpmservice5211 what would you say is engineered poorly? Not what I want to hear after ordering an 80". I know my 80" is about 730 lbs and the 72 inch is like 496
@@bigtimegolfer3668 the lack of thought put into relieving the packed snow and small debris... which binds it up leading to breaking of shear pins
1:31 to 1:51 = 20 seconds of my life I'll never get back ahahah.

Can you use Hill Descent Control to maintain at 85 kph the fast descending car?
Is that a back up camera mounted in the cab? If so what do you use?
Yes it's a camera I got off Amazon its works pretty well but the spacial perception is skewed so I don't rely on it.
Cruise control ;)
I just bought a 23 and this truck is by far the best truck I've ever owned. Ford knocked it out of the fucking park with this thing.
I have had this happen twice. I will be installing these screens for sure!
I have a gmc 2015. I haul a travel trailer. Coming downhill? Can I use the hill decent option or let grade braking activate itself cuz of the weight I got?
I believe the delay is intended. You can see your meter immediately go to 1 when you hit the brakes, then increase up gradually. If it went to 100% immediately, or straight to that gradual sweep, it would cause a jerking motion in the vehicle if the brake setting was set too high. You'd then intuitively released the brakes to make it stop, then reapply, causing the same effect, but worse each subsequent time you hit the brakes since the suspension is already rocking up and down from the time before. I had this exact same thing happen the first time I pulled a travel trailer and it was a mess. Had immediately drop the brake setting down, then pull over and learn the setting to get the delay added. It now works great.
That silver looks really good. Couldn't choose between this and the avalanche. Your video helped
Damn she's fiesty. Definitely will be using two hands 🥴
are those the oem mud flaps?
Yes they are. Ordered that way from Ford.
I had a problem with my Fisher plow this week not powering up, found green corrosion in the ten pin connector on the front of the truck. Just ordered a connector cleaning kit from IPA. Great tips and video!
Them torsen differentials are legit
I knew the Hill Descent Control would maintain whatever speed you adjusted with the throttle or brake, but didn’t realize you could also adjust the speed with the Cruise Control buttons.
