SteelPhase sP01 - Basic Maintenance

Gold detecting is all about the audio. If you don't hear it, you won't be digging it up. So having a clean audio signal path is critical to get the best out of your detector. Watch the video for some basic maintenance tips on your sP01 enhancer, to keep that detector audio humming, and to get the best results from your SteelPhase enhancer.

      It achieves three things. 1. Minimises the amount of cable that's visible to the coils detection field, 2. Reduces any cable strain on the cable exit point, 3. Protects the cable from damage from rocks when placing the detector down

      On small roughly circular pieces of gold, when using a round mono coil, the direction of swing will make very little difference. But, if the gold is an irregular shape and even more so if you are using an elliptical mono, then the direction of swing can make all the difference.

    Is the AlgoForce 1500 worth buying vs the minelab gpx 6000?

    • @diggingwithphasetech
      @diggingwithphasetech 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The 6000 will punch deeper, it's also more automated being locked in ground tracking and having Auto Sensitivity options. However, it's also nearly 4 times the price!! AlgoForce is better in high EMI environments and can use a huge range of coils which are cheaper than 6000 accessory coils. The AlgoForce also has an adjustable threshold, threshold tone, Audio Treble, handle vibration and conductive Target ID which the 6000 doesn't have. So if you have a big budget and like the idea of switch on, noise cancel, pump coil and go, then go the 6000. If you'd rather buy something a lot cheaper that is still a capable machine, and more user customisable in terms of coils, size of power bank etc. then go the E1500.

O que devo fazer? Será que precisarei de uma 6000? Ou se eu comprar uma bobina mais pequena, eu conseguirei encontrar ouro? Minha menor bobina é uma elite de 11. Lembrando que aqui o solo é severo.

    • @diggingwithphasetech
      @diggingwithphasetech 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Com um Elite de 11 ", você poderá encontrar ouro abaixo de 0,1g sem problemas. A menos que o ouro não esteja longe de um recife, pode ser difícil detectá-lo. Um 6000 ou E1500 ou SDC2300 é melhor em ouro de recife. Se você estiver não estiver familiarizado com as configurações, use os presentes de fábrica e selecione Modo Geral, Especial, Mono, Fixo. Certifique-se de que Fine Gold esteja selecionado no menu regularmente com o botão verde.

      Hi, the Gold Hawk series is for the GPX6000, and the Gold Extreme is for the SDC2300. I think both machines are sensitive enough to small gold with their stock coils, so the reason to go smaller is more for ease of pin-pointing and working scrubby or rocky terrains.

    Good honest vid Nenad. I’ve seen and read a lot of info regarding auto+ no threshold vs manual (with threshold), but there is no mention of volume. You can’t run manual sensitivity with max volume, BUT you can with no threshold. I run auto+ (no threshold) with detector volume max and avantree torus neck speaker on max and it’s unbelievable what depth I have got when working a patch. Of course a lot comes into play from day to day emi, high mineralisation, your hearing etc. I have found a .4 at 11” and then a .1 at 9”!!!measured by taking out around an inch of dirt at a time. Even turning the detector volume down one notch and I would lose the signal which was only heard sweeping the coil in one direction only, and would balance out after 2-3 sweeps. Ground balance and the signal is there again. Just a very tiny repeatable chirp. You cannot compare a target with manual sensitivity and auto+ with the same volume. Auto+ (no threshold) has to have max volume on detector and external speaker. I use avantree torus speaker on max volume so I don’t know how it works with anything else. It doesn’t work just with detector speaker. I continue sometimes running manual on targets and have yet found nothing that that auto+ doesn’t pick up easily. Try it

    • @diggingwithphasetech

      The 7000 has a few benefits. 1. More control over the audio. 2. Ground balance options, i.e. you can switch the auto tracking off. 3. Concealed coil cable. 4. More depth on larger nuggets. 5. Can handle highly mineralised and high salt ground with a few settings changes, with the 6000 you may have to swap to the 14" DD coil. 6. Normal ground type setting gives a greater boost in performance compared to Normal on the 6000.

    Have you got a cable for the 6000?

    • @diggingwithphasetech
      @diggingwithphasetech 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use the equinox/6000 adaptor cable. phasetechnical.com.au/equinox-gpx6000-audio-adaptor-cable/ Or if you want to make up a curly patch cable you can sacrifice the headphone cord (supplied with the 6000) then snip off the 3.5mm end that connects to the headphones and you solder on a 6.35mm plug.

    Lenad why not add a Bluetooth chip to it? My small Amplifier used one, but I move to the 6000. What do the notch filters do if you have any on it. No not filter 3, you need the noise floor. Ex military technician.

      If you want to use it wirelessly on the 6000, then grab one of the Quest receivers. phasetechnical.com.au/quest-aptx-LL-bluetooth-receiver-suit-gpx6000/ I explain what the Filter pot does in the video - it isn't a notch filter. Technically isn't a filter at all.

    I've found gold with the sp01 and GOG headphones on the sdc2300 that i couldn't hear on standard speaker at all, or with your dual spk07 setup/sp01 combo. I still like the speakers for quiet areas(mode 2), but i love the headphones(mode 2 also), especially with wind sounds, leaf crunches and creek noises. Works perfect with the sdc for volume control. Sub 0.05g bits at tibooburra 👍👌🇦🇺sp01 serial in the mid 210's, its been a good unit, had it for years now. Just wish it had a modern charge plug, maybe usb-C not mini-B, its just the sp01 and my gopro HERO 1 that use mini-these days😊

      @adhawk5632 thanks. In all the rechargeable devices I've ever had, the miniB port has been the most reliable. I've had two phones with usb c that have stuffed up. So I'm a little reluctant to change it.

      @@diggingwithphasetech you know your stuff, it is reliable. Either way, it's a game changer for the sdc2300. I never detect without it, cheers mate. On a side note, all 3 minelab headphones have gone crusty on the ear pads(GM, Nox and sdc), the GOG headphones are perfect, 5 years later👍👌🇦🇺

    Can this unit minimise noisy humming noise of the sdc2300 detector?

      On the SDC I like to use a lower sensitivity, this provides a more stable threshold. Have the threshold setting on the 4th LED, then adjust your volume on the sP01. Works very well.

      I never use my sdc without the sp01 now, I love it. Super adjustable for the sound level you prefer. The filters work good. Somedays, when the sdc is running quiet, i run 4 on the sdc with 1 light with mode 2, and filter 1 cranked up on the volume on sp01, and it runs nearlt silent and is SUPER sensitive to smooth, subtle gold sounds. Grab the sdc to 6.35mm female cable, a 6.35mm coil cable with straight/ 90° plug and some good 150ohm headphones, nenad has them👍👌🇦🇺

    Thanks Nenad. I've had a crack at using mine with a pair pf ZX Gold Pro's and a 6000. They're not stereo, but I love the way they cut out the ambient background noise from wind and the coil scraping the ground. I think I'll give them a bit more time and see how they go. Cheers

    • @diggingwithphasetech
      @diggingwithphasetech 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nothing comprehensive about it. You just press the pin-point button. Just need to be mindful that pin-point is a non-motion mode, so the threshold can drift. If that happens press the pin-point button again. You can have a play with it at home to familiarize yourself. Use a small coil and drop sensitivity really low, and it should be stable enough.
