Hy man, My recommandation is to use FBNeo core in Retroarch (if you are on android or iOS) or use Final Burn Neo emulator in Windows (you can use Retroarch in Windows as well, your choice). Since a couple of years ago, all Cave shmups are fully supported in FBNeo as well and the speed is the best there is. The emulator is called Retroarch. You get it from libretro.com. The core that plays these games (you download the core from inside the emulator after you install it) is called Final Burn Neo or FBNeo.

At the moment, i recommed the FBneo core. It is the easiest to set up in Retroarch and it's been tweaked to play the Cave shmups as good as posssible. See this topic for info about accurate values for each game. neo-source.com/index.php?topic=3934.0

I recommend using the FBNeo core. It works better for cv1000.

For Reco Normal (Maniac mode only) - Cpu 48 mhz, Blitter 57% For Palm Normal (Maniac only) - Cpu 48 mhz, blitter 56% Palm Abnormal is much harder to properly set up due to how blitter affects the laser effect. @@usernameRika cool I’ll bookmark that thread. Thanks for investigating this stuff! One question though: Suppose you wanted to play Original Mode. Would you leave the CPU/Blitter at their default values or would you use the Maniac values?

@@-dash i never analysed Original in Futari. It might work, but i can't say it is so. Thing is, the rank is so dynamic, that's near impossible to properly compare without having the pcb in front of me. Same goes for Pink Sweets. Only the games with more or less fixed rank (or very obvious rank altering, like Daifukkatsu Black Label ) could be properly analysed vs superplays and tweaked.

@@usernameRika Hopefully, one day CV1000 CPU%+Blitter can configured dynamically by the core itself. That would be the ideal as far as the user is concerned

@@-dash there is good work being done by a couple of very good coders, in terms of a better more complete emulation of the Sh3 hardware, but it's not easy and it's put on hold for the moment. The Cpu is the key, and it'll be better emulated in the near future, no doubt. Regarding current emulation, Fbneo is probably the better solution. Use it with my values and it'll be a great, as close to pcb as currently possible experience.

I'd love to try it. I don't think it's impossible on the touch screen (i have 4 frames of input lag, which is about the same as some of the official 360 ports). Need much more training though, i'm not consistent enough. Also, the later levels are really unforgiving, and Larsa is complete madness.

Hi there! I am doing well, thank you for asking. Hope you are too! Regarding the new core and blitter settings, there are two options i recommend: 1. Accurate Buffi with Clip Margin ON 2. Antiquity with Clip Margin OFF Leave Busy Sleep test activated in both cases, as it doesn't affect the slowdown. These settingd combination is the best atm. If you use option 1, the Blitter Delay value is not important, while in option 2 it is. I personally still use option 2 (old method) with the numbers from here: neo-source.com/index.php?topic=3934.0 Buffi method will be great once some issues are ironed out.

@@usernameRika It seems like retroarch can't recognize cheat.dat Cheats of retroarch have (.cht) extension. I also followed the procedure that you said but I can't see anything extra in 'core options'. Maybe, I'm doing something wrong. Can you please help ?

@@Red_Ribbon_Army. it must work. However, not all cv1000 games are in the .dat i uploaded. Try "mushisam.zip" rom for example, and after you load the game, go back in Retroarch - Options (the menu where you change the cpu and blitter) and cheats should be available for that game.

Don't thank me, but the developer of FBNeo, dink, who is a great guy :) The driver is much improved since this video. The games now run much better.

@@usernameRika Jus one last question. Where could I get the latest version of the core ? Cuz the one downloaded from retroarch doesn't update that often, for what it looks.

@@jordibeltrancuni2439 the only way to get the core is via Retroarch core updater. It will always have the latest updated core. If there's no updates for a while, it means that no new code is being pushed in the repository.

You can use cheats. You need to put the cheat file in Retroarch - system - fbneo - cheats, and then enable them from core options.

The code is from mame 0.155, which is what i've been using to re-create the pcb slowdown, so the CPU and Blitter tweaks are identical, meaning the slowdown is excellent!

Hy man. Yeah, this core is right now the best way to play these games via emulation. It is all FBNeo's team work, especially dink's, who did a fantastic job with the code, and even went further and fixed some issues that the ume2014 core has. I merely provided a bit of testing 🤜🤛

Wow! Gotta try it. Just one question: Is it just the fbneo core on retroarch's current version? 64 bits or 32? Tried it, it says unknown romset?

@@jordibeltrancuni2439 so far i've only tested the 32 bits version, but the 64 should be just as good. Some roms do have issues, need repackaging. Try Mushihimesama and Ibara Black Label, they should work without issues.

@@usernameRika Sorry for the late reply, it was a tough week at work 😅 I tried with your core "ume2014" but every time it runs always crashed then I thought it might have been the RetroArch version. So I switched to the 32bit version and it still didn't work. I tried to use an older version of RetroArch (1.8.6 32bits) I managed to run it but it crashed. A friend told me to try the mame2016 core which is based on mame 0.174, I managed to run the games but there is a lot of lag in areas with too many projectiles (Snapdragon 860 6GB RAM) I'll try next week trying other options 👍

@@zokrahhhstyle Use FBNeo core. Starying with last week, it fully supports cv1000 games! It is even slightly faster than ume2014.

@@mediomastr here is the core, sorry for the late reply: we.tl/t-ItMpbJyuP4 Rename ume2014 to a core that exists in the libretro repository (i use the fba2012-cps1 core name) and install it manually. Mame2015 is more demanding and has broken Blitter Delay hack, which is mandatory for accuracy of the emulation.

Yes. Just purchased it a few days ago, and i'm trying to figure it out, because as we all know, nothing works as intended without a little (a bit more in this case) tweaking.

Hello. Here: we.tl/t-Y15Hwo9Wza The core is already renamed, so you just put in in "Retroarch - downloads" folder (after you install Retroarch) and manually install it from inside Retroarch. I also put the overlay in there, with the TAB button, so you can access the Mame Sliders menu (Cpu clock, Blitter). To have CPU Underclock, you need to activate cheats first, from inside the core (start a game with the core and then go back to Retroarch Core Options and enable cheats). The rest is very easy to find online.

The instalation is not working for me, 1.7.7 also crash, ive installed the Core with the original name and later change the name to a valid version of the FBA Core, then update the information files and the data base, same result, maybe i am missing something, i am on Android 11 by the way.

@@hannsontube oh, this is so unfortunate friend. So if i understand correctly, the core installs "ok", but when you start a game, it crashes. Ateast this is what happends to me on the tests.

@@usernameRika the problem is the phone, i tried this in a Samsung A70 also on Android 11 and work just fine, the other phone is a Xiaomi Poco F3, very weird

@@hannsontube oh, i get you. It's more likely the Android OS on certain phones. On my girlfriend's Samsung, it used to work until she updated the phone.

It's not about the fps, that's just the end result, it's about the cpu cores that should be involved fully.
