👍🏻I have a question, I work with a guy that says he doesn’t shut the water off the device to test it. I’ve asked him to show me, but that hasn’t happened yet. I’m I in the right to say that you can’t test the device without turning off the flow?

So unnecessary, been testing for 25 years. Nothing essentially had changed with these devices. Having to memorize the rest is just ridiculous when you can just used the test book in the field. Why not make it open book? Even the plumbing license tests are open book. I see 2 things happening here, a money grab and weeding out people capable of testing backflows. Why they would do that is beyond me.

These training schools for backflow preventer testing and repairs are scams These guys running these programs never, ever train for the amount of time they are supposed to and the training is a joke The vast majority of people who go through these training courses don’t have any understanding of backflow preventers and can’t even perform a test by memory I mean it is a freaking joke! How do these schools get away with running a course at far less than 32 hours when that is what it’s supposed to be?

Having a leaking #2 shut off valve in the direction of flow. After you bypass water from TC1 to TC4 to compensate for the #2 shut off valve leak to obtain the relief valve opening point, can you then obtain the tightness of the #2 check valve?

Besides noting that the Shut off valve leaks, would you mark PASS or FAIL when having a shut-off valve leak after obtaining your Air Inlet & Check Valve readings?

I had to go through instead. All these backfill pavement are testing. Why do you all make a big deal out of this? It's not that hard if you can read step step step. You're just trying to make money on people. Dude, you're not helping anybody. What if you wanna learn to do backflow preventor you goat in sign up for a classroom local area, you can listen to this video, but the best way to do it is on hands doing it physically. But this guy right here he's okay but who cares

Good to see more videos helping people with their ABPA certs/recerts. There are only 10 issues the proctor can create on all 4 assemblies combined, and 5 of them are on the DC. There are only 2 possible problems they will simulate on an RP. A leaking #2 check and a leaking #2 shutoff. The other 3 possible failures are covered in this video on the PVB. If you're a new cert, memorize your procedures and then practice identifying these 10 possible problems, and you're good to go. Remember, the proctor will only give a maximum of 1 problem per assembly. The SVB is a basic process without any problems being simulated as of March 2024. I think they might change this soon though.

I got certified 3 years ago and haven't touched a backflow since. Now I'm due for recertification test and I'm nervous I won't pass. I'm cramming videos trying to remember everything.
