In this video, I make a Christmas themed VCV Rack patch. The main idea I had from the very start was to recreate sleigh bells, add church bells, then build atmosphere around that.

Audacity is kind of funny for some sound design things because I remember one trick where you could get glitch noises or sweeps by changing the file extension on things like images and then importing "raw" files into Audacity. (I think it's intended for sound files with missing headers or meta-data, but it lets you treat anything as it were and audio file.) So it's pretty neat if you're clever enough.
Yeah I tried that years ago, as well as doing the image --> raw --> add fx --> re-stitch back to image to get image glitches but all my results have been naff and I clearly wasn't clever enough for it. But you're absolutely right, it's insane what you can do with audacity in terms of file manipulation n stuff!

Thanks for capping the levels and saving headphone users post-edit. However that could have been a PSA for always slapping in a limiter or compressor module as always last before the audio out. (The software itself doesn't have any protection on levels otherwise.) That's actually something I put into a default template along with the main mixer and giant mute button.

Thats why I don’t waste 199$ on useless plugins that noobs and rich kids abuse. I simply get vital and use default instruments to cook my own sounds that can sound better than goddamn purity, serum, rx9,… that are expensive asf (relative to my college part-time Wendy’s paycheck)
Aye there's absolutely no "secret weapon" / "you NEED this plugin to sound" meta, just do with what you got and become adapatable! 100% agree!
