Lovely…you make it look so easy!!
Thank you sooo much @NUBIANQUEENSTAR. So glad you liked the video. Sending you much love.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank You ... will be using these techniques. I am retired and a self taught artist and have recently gotten into pan pastels, pastel pencils and pastels in general and I love working with it.
You’re very welcome @lindah4137. I am so thrilled to hear that you are enjoyed the video. Happy creating! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thanks so much Tarralu sending you lots of love also. Keep up the great work!❤❤❤
Nature has a way to ground yourself. Lately I’ve been watching the sky and the different clouds and formations. It helps me pause and not worry too hard. There’s no such thing as TH-cam being on ‘easy mode’. TH-cam is tough and a heck of an uphill battle. But I do think it is time for creators to stop pretending something you’re not, especially in the art niche.
Nature is a blessing along with art. Wish there was an easy button, ahh...one day an editor..but I look at it this ..way learning new skills all the time while getting to share and connect ..big plus. We just need remember to take time out when you need it. ❤❤❤
Definitely something to keep in mind for the future. I have only tried Acrylics so far. I like all 3 of your pieces for different reasons...great demonstration!
Thanks so much Mimi. It was fun doing it. So glad you enjoyed the demo. Repeating the same subject is great for really understanding new materials. Let me know how you get on if you give it a go. Much love. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am learning how to use both oil and soft pastels and would love to see content for both!
Thank you so much for your comment @diannedupuis2960. Will definitely be creating more videos on oil pastels in upcoming videos. Are there any particular pain points or aspects of these 2 mediums that you would like me to explore? Much love ❤️
What papers are you using for each medium?
Hi @shayantani8 , I am using Windsor & Newton pastel paper (Greys Selection) for the pastel pieces. For the gouache piece am using heavyweight rag drawing paper by the Bee Company. I really loved the results on these papers. Happy creating!❤️❤️❤️
Great video! Thank you
Thank you so very much. So glad you liked the video. Happy creating.❤️❤️❤️
Enjoyed watching the different techniques for each medium ❤
Hi Susan, so glad you enjoyed it! I had so much fun doing them. Happy creating.❤️❤️❤️
I work one section at a time
Great approach @janefairweather-r7v. I tend to do this with really detailed pieces with lots of moving parts . Happy creating! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Song name?
Its One Step Closer by Aakash Gandhi. Amazing artist, I just love his music!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I liked the final revision the best. The purple was a bit more harmonious with the blue tints in my opinion. Very lovely drawing altogether 😊💜💙💚. The little creature you showed in the beginning I really like too!! He (or she?)is so cute.
Thanks so much Mimi. Glad you liked the drawing, it was challenge, but glad I pushed my boundaries. I am also exited about taking the little creature further .. it might be fun to create a narrative...❤️❤️❤️❤️
Each painting has its merits so I couldn't choose just one; I have just purchased my first set of soft pastels so I enjoyed seeing your progress. I have tried a few blending tools (especially sponges) but really don't like rubbing my finger into the pastel. Anyway I still have a lot of learning to do with this medium. Thanks!
Thankyou so much @mcblakemore, so happy to hear you liked all three. Start with experimenting with different tools like Q tips, applicators, paper towel etc. as you go along you' find the one(s) which work best for you. Congratulations on starting your pastel journey. Much love.❤️❤️
Wow! I loved it!!
Thank you so much @milenabdesign. So glade you liked my video, it warms my heart sooo much! Sending lots of love!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Inspiring, I',m aspie and doing the same,,,
Thank you so much @knockedoutloaded279 . I am sooo encouraging you to continue on your journey, it can be challenging at times , but you're going to learn so much. Tell your story and show off your skills, its so very satisfying. Sending you lots of love and wishing you much success....Keep going! ❤️❤️
Thank you for the inspiration. I also am new to pan pastels and pastel pencils, but I love the feeling of them. I bought a pad of pastelmat, and have only used it once, but found it to be quite foreign feeling, but perhaps it's a matter of getting used to it. I like using watercolour paper also, I heard a tip from a pan pastel artist to lightly sand the coating off the paper first. It's so daunting for a beginner artist to pay so much for materials, when I'm just dabbling to learn.
You're very welcome @Robyn19fnq so glad you were inspired by this video. Why not experiment different types of paper even inexpensive ones and see which effect you like best, once you are more confident try your pastelmat again. P.S. Some watercolour papers do have more sizing than others , I like the idea of sanding the coating off a bit. Again try experimenting with some inexpensive watercolour paper. Much love and happy creating.❤️
Was this an ordinary piece of coloured paper or is it for mixed media? I find regular paper hard to work with as it tends to ripple when it gets wet. I love the colours in this piece.
Thanks so much Mimi. This was pink card stock paper , I taped it down on a bit of canvas board. Taping down on hardboard will also do the trick. Hope this helps ❤❤❤❤
In the future I want to paint people and portraits. This is a good video to come back to. I use the grid method for my paintings, it’s hard to explain to someone…well, that’s my experience anyway. I struggle doing it every time as well, 😆. Self taught artist struggles I suppose.
That's wonderful Mimi, we are thinking along the same lines. I have some more portraits and figurative drawings planned, it might be fun to explore varying methods, styles and techniques. 👍❤️❤️❤️
Hello Opal, greetings from another Canadian dweller 🇨🇦. I found your channel through a comment you left on one of Tarrah Lu’s videos. What a crazy rollercoaster this TH-cam journey has us on. But it’s a fun one…full of lessons to be learnt.
Hello Mimi always nice to connect with a fellow Canadian artist. Love Tarra Lu and her great insights. I totally agree with you -TH-cam is quite a journey: its often challenging but what a wonderful way to keep in touch with your creative side. Sending much love to you Mimi. P.S. What’s been your biggest lesson so far?”
@@OpalInspired I have so many really. For TH-cam: what I would recommend to someone who's about to start or just has...be patient. This is not a quick race...and if you approach it as such, you'll be disappointed and give up too soon. Or...if you somehow have a ton of knowledge and are doing all the right things, but are pushing HARD, you'll be heading straight for creators burn out... As an Artist: don't compromise who you are and what you love to do. The right people will find you, don't bend yourself into spaces you don't fit. Who are you creating art for to begin with? Your journey is uniquely yours...
You are so on point! Beautifully put Mimi, beautifully put!!! ❤❤❤❤
So informative ❤
Sending much love to you Pauline , so glad you found it informative. So happy to have shared it with you.❤️

Thanks so much for your lovely colourful comment @user-us5fe9fc5n ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful painting. Thanks for all the tips on using pencils. I relatively new to pastels, just invested in the pans this week, so this will be helpful. I’d love to see your take on paper, as pastelmat is so expensive, but pastels really require enough tooth to hold the layers!
Thank you♥♥♥! You are so very welcome @karenluke-mannarino3426 , so glad you liked the video and found it helpful. I totally agree good paper can be quite expensive..... a paper video on its way. In the mean time experiment with different kinds of water colour papers, they have good weight and often nice textures to play with. Happy creating.♥

You're very welcome @judibinks! ❤❤❤
Such a beautiful demonstration. Your tone, and pace is so gentle. Thank you!
Thank you so much for those lovey words @littleforest1166.Soo much appreciated. ❤❤❤
Great information. I had to take a second look at the date here because the shelves in most of the stores in my part of the world look very, very sparse, nothing like the selection & variety shown in your stores. Thanks to inflation and internet shopping, there may be three baskets, two metal tubs and a few plastic bins available…if we’re lucky! So these days I’m making do with what I have and praying for better times and a better world.
Hi @sharongates4699 , things are also getting more and more expensive here. A great activity here in spring and summer are garage and yard sales. I have found so many useful pieces for my creative endeavors, things that people just don't want anymore. My latest was a large desk top easel for just a few dollars. Have a look at what you have and see how you can repurpose them also. Happy hunting and happy creating. Much love. P.S. Curious to know where you are in the world? ❤❤❤
Lovely Artwork I'm Dee from NZ and I'm new to ur chanell. 😇😇
Welcome @DeannaReti so excited to hear from you all the way from New Zealand. Thank you for the lovey comment, it so very much appreciated!❤❤❤❤

Thank you so much. I am so very happy you found the found the video useful @HelmaLuzumova. ❤❤❤❤
Beautiful!
Thank you soo very much @susankashmiri6199. Feeling so appreciated right now, sending much love your way.
Nice job! The problem of too many options is a well known one.. I am constantly reorganizing the smaller things. Especially after I went to the art supply store and need to make room for the new babies ;-)
Thank you so much @goat8477. I so agree😀 , finding home for our new found treasures is an on going thing...but oh the possibilities❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing your creativity Opal, you have given me some superb ideas for using my Pan Pastels. 👏🏻
You are so very welcome @deeaustin6479. I am happy to hear that you found my video useful. Much love.❤
Thank you so much! I was drawing apples exactly the first example you used. I’m going to improve my skill at drawing with a lot of practice and your lesson here.
So happy to hear that my tutorial resonated with you @jcfromupstate1693 .Sending love and wishing you much success with your drawings.
Thank you for that great tutorial. Lots of great techniques to try😀
So thrilled that you liked the tutorial @susankashmiri6199 , it warms my heart that you fund it useful. Lots of love ❤❤❤
Thank you. After an accident I have an aquired brain injury so it is very hard to be organised.I love to re use and recycle but i have ended up with boxes and boxes!I found your video very helpfull, although i stat away from plastics I suppose sometimes it can help when on a not alot of money situ!Apreciate your soothing voice and music also.BLESSINGS.
Thank you so much @morganniciomhair8284 for you beautiful heart felt comment. So glad you liked my video and found it useful. Sending you lots of love and blessing also. ❤ P.s. I agree with you on plastics. The good news is that Steralite manufacturers state that their products are recyclable (back into hard plastics) and PVCs, Latex, Teflon, Phthalate Chemicals, fungicides, Bishphenol A (BPAs), or antibacterial chemicals are not used.😀
@OpalInspired That's great news about the plastics.I did not know that.I was inspired to start organising my art room because of your video( note to self,I don't need 20 cardboard boxes because they might be usefull!Thank you Opall.Wishing you many happy times in your new space.
So exited to hear that you are inspired to organize your art space @morganniciomhair8284.Enjoy your new art space!❤️
Loved the techniques. Thank you ❤
