I havent seen the smack DVD but have seen a video on youtube him making a beat with some horn sample and this drum beat sounds just like it. Was the smack dvd the same video of him making a beat with a horn sample?

Get a z8 they fjn bang and is kinda similar to the X with some features. Most of all, it's the rack mount of the 4k

@@WaynePryce I got a MPC4000 and a MPC One. Only use the One as midi controller for vsts

they are pretty rare nowadays

that’s like saying where do you play records there are millions of cds in the world cd is a clean source cleaner than mp3 anyway as for sd card it’s not new it was released 25 years ago and ONLY has 128 tb max where cf has a max of 128 pb cf express has only been out since 2017 maybe you should do your homework everything has been cut down sd is clearly not as solid as cf it’s not just MPC either many synths have a PCMCIA card and not a small sd card it’s too small and it’s 25 years old.

Adjusted for inflation, they are cheaper that any of the vintage units ever where. What one thinks or feels doesn’t matter. What they can sell it for is what matters. Use what works for you and don’t buy it. Akai doesn’t care.

Not in my opinion usb connection for files export has always been an option since the 2500/5000 mpc. DIGITAL I/O is needed for SAMPLING and for the digital main output. We are all familiar with how to export files but a lot of folks don’t understand the uses of certain connections digital I/o can also be used to clock devices so digital I/o is needed.

@@oracleelectronica right, i see what u mean ...but the digital signal for sampling is way to clean for me i like a lil bit of grit when sampling ,,but i feel what u saying tho ...i use to create with the old slow mv 8800 but it stopped working a few yrs ago ...its still a beast for todays standards .. i would love to have one of the newer mpc's but i have kids and they come first so all my money goes to them ...but i can always dream ...being a sigle father is hard bro every dollar counts ..i dont care if im without i cant allow my kids to be tho ...

when you use a digital input your right it’s clean I used to use it on the mpc 3000 as well but because it’s clean it’s good for effects processing like using qfx on the 4000 you can do more with a clean signal than a dirty signal plus it’s an extra option and it’s good for sampling drums and instruments.

yes I see people using the modular synths a lot now I figured the audio usb out but what about usb midi can u add midi ins and outs I no you can have midi in usb but what about midi outs

yeah the only one that made sense is the x to me that live looks bare and the one. pads look tiny so I went for the x I’m used to the q link it’s rapid for chopping and other stuff I like them but at least one fader should have been added

It’s always been this way I’ve never change the view and I’m not sure what you mean I no you can change it from linear view to logarithmic view is that what you mean it has 2 ways of displaying the wave .

@ I mean how the waveform shows, when I had a 4000 it would display the waveform differently like reverse to how yours shows it, check a few 4000 sample chop/edit vids most of those vids show the waveform how I’m talking about.

I haven’t changed mine since I had it

go to sample edit page and go onto view in the top left and then press window in there you have options for changing the view

yes I’ve read it the bigger online manual it’s good I didn’t realise you had the flux capacitor as well I might have to come to you for some tips.

yes I will bear that in mind you mean the blue lead that I show in the video what do you mean break off I’m gonna make a video on all the pros and cons that I’ve come across since using it.

@@oracleelectronica yeah the blue one. in the USB port on the machine, there is a little bit of plastic between the pins. that can snap off if using the old school usb cable (the blue one that comes with it is fine)

the first thing I noticed is how close together all the inputs and outputs are including the usb ports very close together the outs need more space bigger cables sit too close I’m gonna make a video I’m just gathering notes

@@oracleelectronica mines alright on that, must be the connectors I used to make the cables were ok, but I got the same problem on mixer so tight together its painful.

I gonna make another video on akaiesha I almost done on the 4000 series I’m probably gonna do a akaiesha x series as well it’s a nice machine but it’s missing some key functions yeah the outs are tight and I don’t like those skinny cables.

a couple of people has told me they purchased a 4000 and it was faulty they are solid machines usually i never had an issue only the pad sensor change in the whole time.

@@oracleelectronicayeah been lucky with mine as well, had a motif an asr and a 2000 since 07 never an issue but some tact switches. But they have a lot of knock off parts and buying online you can’t be too careful so it’s been a search for sure. Maybe make some more asr content if ya can 🫡

yes I no there are a lot of made up after market parts most are aftermarket some are good quality some are not your probably like myself I don’t push buttons hard I’m gentle with the gear as well some people are just naturally heavy handed and it wears down gear

probably more for live performances if you have used a split program or performance on a synth then you have used a KEYGROUP a KEYGROUP is a patch with more than one sound in the patch whether it’s overlapped or split

@ thank you. the lightbulb just went on. ive done alot of live sound so ive been around alot of keyboard players. patches is the word that understand. okay, hopefully final question about Keygroups, so you make patches with samples like layer them to play at the same time?

@@arckatron to me a keygoup is like MPCs term for patch. you make a patch with samples and i usually sample it in c3 to make it simple. i've made a lot of music with keygroups that i've made myself

that’s exactly it it is a patch or performance akai calls it a KEYGROUP

I can’t remember if qfx are part of the fx card fx i upgraded mine when I first got it I did it myself more than 10 years ago. If you can’t get on to the qfx while recording a sample that don’t sound right have you watched my qfx video. You say you can’t hear nothin thru the headphone what do you mean nothing no effects or no sound at all. Can you hear the effects thru the main outs ?

@@oracleelectronica Thanks for the reply man I appreciate it. I got sound through the headphones but no effect processing coming through. I can’t check the main outs at the moment coz I’m the middle of moving house so all my other gear is all boxed up. I’ll check that soon though. I read up and some people said if they had the effects card and can pull up the effects but not working. Apparently could be fixed by with reseating the FX card.. But it’s mad hard to get too and I ain’t that good with that stuff to be honest. I heard it’s delicate and you can mash things up worse. I’ll prolly have to send it off for a pro to look at… I want the effects working. Keep it all in the box. Thanks again for replying. Sorry I didn’t realize the QFX were a separate thing.
