Monolith Soft makes great games and movie like cut scenes and great action gameplay. Xenoblade series is good balance of story and gameplay. Several parts of Xenoblade series story are homages to various films and anime.

Lords of Shadow is epic, ill never understand why people hate it. Its exactly what Castlevania is supposed to be in 3D. If anything it needed to incorporate the metrovania aspect but it was a reboot. There's no castle yet. The sequel destroyed the future the 1st game presented. I mean Kojima made it for christ sake.

Ok what, they made it more comedic to "appeal to a younger demographic"?? Thats gotta be false right?? This, the game with fanservice lady stripping to use her powers multiple times per battle, where the final boss is literally "child in a sexy adult body"?? I don't this is any more kid friendly than any other Shadow Hearts games. It just leans more on sexuality than horror.

I have such a weird relationship with this game because it was the first one I ever played in the series. I absolutely fuckin ADORED it with no further context! The battle system is awesome, it's hilarious, it's colourful and fun and has great monster designs. The plot is naff but it's fully aware it is, it's more of an insane B-movie romp. And it makes the few legit emotional moments hit harder cos you've gotten to really adore the characters from all their funny scenes. It used to be up on my list of top ten PS2 games! The only real flaw I had was how the game pushes you to use the fanservicey lady with all her bikini monster forms, which wasn't very appealing to me as someone who isn't attracted to women. But that was a minor issue so... Why was it getting so many bad reviews? Well then I discovered all along it was secretly the third game in a series, and absolutely NONE of the others were like this. 😂 Now I completely understand the complaints! If you have a franchise that'd always been deep dark introspective Literal Horror Games, of course it'd seem offensive to suddenly pivot to humour above everything else. I think the fans are completely right to be pissed! But uhh.. it's still true that this is on my top 10 PS2 games and ive never been able to enjoy the first two. I know they're objectively better games, but I just simply don't enjoy the horror genre. And yknow.. this game is also not bad at all. It's just Very Different. And that difference just happens to be a genre I actually like. I feel they're both equally valid products that just appeal to different audiences. And it's such a damn shame this killed the series. This, an actually good game, killed the series??? I don't blame the fans for not liking it, I don't blame newbies like me FOR liking it, I just blame the developers for making baffling decisions. Literally the entire problem coulda been fixed if you just called this game anything else! It's great and enjoyable as it's own separate product! So idk, I hope maybe someday the original shadow hearts series can make a revival. But part of me still holds out hope that games like this would come back too, maybe as a spinoff... Clear marketing is important, my guys!!!

Man, I first heard about this game from a tvtropes page saying the ending is terrible because "nothing you did matters if he just loses the girl too". And finally seeing the actual damn ending here, I'm now like "wtf, did that person completely lack media literacy?" It seems really clear the game is going for the message that even if you get parted from friends and family someday, that doesn't make all the days you spent together worthless. That the happiness of connecting with people is worth the pain of being parted again. And your life will be a continuous cycle of meeting new people who become special to you. At the end of that, you'll be able to say it was all worth it, even if we all meet the ultimate loneliness of death. I think it's important that older Seto says it was a peaceful death and doesn't seem to resent it, or wish he'd done things different. He can go into death without fear because he had all those memories of everyone he loved. Shin wasn't right to wanna cut off human connection entirely and live eternally to escape that pain. It's not a fully happy ending but it's FAR from a sad one, geez! I feel terrible that a bad review put me off trying the game for so long! Thanks for this great video!!!!!

Im so happy seeing someone make such a comprehensive video about this game in big old 2024. I recently revisted this title and your timing couldn't have been better. A beautifully crafted analysis for a beautifully unique game.

Shadow Hearts 1 is super rough, but few games have really oozed that kind of atmosphere to me... Worth it for that alone, sorta. PS, was the Jem music...?? lol

Really enjoyed this video! My husband and I are fond of games like this and hearing your words and thoughts had a nice touch. I have known this game ever since I was 12 / 13 and was too scared to ever finish it back then, so I watched others play and finish it instead. It still is a game that leaves me with an eerie feeling. It is so beautiful and sad at the same time that one cannot forget about it. One thing is for certain though... After watching this video again, even if I only feel like this for a fleeting moment, I want to cherish my friends, family and my life more. All these people and pets that entered my life, the gardens I walked through and memories I have made so far, I want to cherish them. Thank you for that. I have no idea about you or your life, but let me tell you this: No matter how alone you feel, someone is always out there, gazing at the stars just like you. Feeling the same feelings as you. Reminiscing about the past, present and future. You are not alone in your feelings. Empathy will come your way and I pray that love and happiness and kindness will find their way to you. Ok, I saw a couple of cutscenes before watching this video. After watching the video, I felt fascinated with the game. But at the same, I felt like it needs a sequel. A story that takes place sometime after Ren's fate, like the survivors are living with other humans who managed to avoid being hit with the Glass Cage due to some immunity, and they use that immunity to create artificial humans with doll-like personalities, no flaws or anything, only idealistic perfection such as intelligence.

Her nickname actually means "gold" - zlato.

fragile dreams was a random game my mom got for me- and it instantly became a treasure to me.. Chiyo’s monologue was always one of my favorite quotes of, honestly anything ever. My mom passed away a couple years ago, and I’m just really thankful for her thinking of me, the time she spent watching me play, being with me- she printed out 40 pages of a walkthrough when I just got stuck on one part haha. Thank you for the video 🩶

Fragile Dreams hit me at the right place place at the right time. Something about the melancholy coziness, and the abandoned buildings lovingly constructed to illict that sense of quiet loss. The old hotel was one of my favs.

Definitely not a happy game by any metric, but something about how melancholic it is leaves me so satisfied at the conclusion. I need more games with bleak endings that aren't necessarily over the top.

This video was ok Fragile Dreams was a decent pick. I would like to have seen something from this decade. The music takes me back to another time in my life. Your dialogue is good and shows command over the game.
