This channel was and is here for real reviews of products I use or have tried to use. No fluff, NO UNBOXING(who cares), no hiding the real flaws. Please let me know if there are products you want to see. I'm a real guy not a professional. I buy items that I need for projects I am trying to complete or get started. I am tired of crap reviews from people who have not tested the items fully. 2 cuts with a saw does not give you the knowledge you need to make a good review. I'm tired of being burned by a bad product someone gave a good review on. Please subscribe. I am going to being posting 3 to 4 reviews per month. “We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

While waiting on the next encased vase project glue to dry I figured I would put out a video on the pump grinder from PSI www.pennstateind.com/store/PKGRIND11.html. I used A blank from the folks at Cousineau Wood Products. Really cool designs. I've developed a lot of ideas to tackle using their wood products. Dewalt DW735 Planer Review
มุมมอง 15K6 ปีที่แล้ว
This week I'm reviewing the Dewalt 13" thickness planer model DW735. It has a 3 knife cutter head that spins at 10k RPM. I've planed down over 200' of hardwood some down to the 1/8" minimal cut thickness. If you would like to take a closer look click the link below. Thanks. Please like and subscribe. Please like share and subscribe. I will have another review up soon. Link to the PSI WOODWORKING PEN MANDREL: amzn.to/2FoLvPi
what is the lowest speed you can start at? i was under the impression that it was around 700rpm,
Carpentry: 10. Video work: 3
What chuck are you using and where’d you get ?
How do you remove the face plate, if it is to tight.
Dose it come with a chuck?
How much was it?
Very beautiful work!
The best video I've saw on this product everybody else wants to just talk to hear themselves talk. Thanks and don't worry about taping your joints, that way if you need to remove any of that you just take the tape off.
Bad brand!
Has anyone been able to do indexing with this lathe? At the back of the motor, rear end of the headstock. there is a female threaded hole, with the retention ring. It appears that indexing can be implemented using this female threaded hole (with a bolt that fits this size and pit of thread and a graduated disk), but I have yet to find out what thread it is.
thanks for your review dude, I am just getting into wood turning and am interested in buying this machine fro my local Harbor Freight, you've set my mind at ease knowing it'll be a good purchase \m/
how long will the blades last you think planing white/red oak?
I really enjoyed your review of the harbor freight dust collection system. Your narrating style is enjoyable. Looks like you have a nice shop there.
Your shop sucks so does your video
Great idea
I finally warped the main spindle to the point of no return. Was still turning medium size pieces . Nothing small. Too much wobble. Disassembly complete just got to order parts. It's been my happy place for several years.
Hi I am BC and I have some new parts I ordered from harbor freight and I am not sure where they go cause I bought this used so Iam trying to find out what all I need.so if you don't might do a short tailstock video and email me please. I llike your review.
I would be happy to help. Send me an email at info@dadfixedit.com and I will reply with a video of the tailstock assembly.
Thanks for the informative video. I was in the Marines, but still respect my Army brothers and sisters! I might have to go grab one of these. My planet is spitting chips out like crazy!!
I have a question I have the same planer and I was wondering how that harbor freight dust system handled the planer chips
It works really well. If I take a large cut into soft wood it has caught up in the fan a bit. The soft wood tends to turn into noodles when you take thick cuts. No problems with hard wood at all. Thanks for the comment.
I have to say something here I think this is a real type person here ,he's not trying to be a u tube star which is y I fast forward a lot of these vids . I want just real stuff from real people. thank you for serving from another army vet.
I appreciate you. Thank you for serving brother.
Like the headstock ability to turn outboard. However, if you’re going to turn something large (greater than 12 inch diameter) you need to reduce speed to 100 rpms or less. I’m pretty sure from other reviews that the slowest this lathe will turn is 600 rpms.
Yes it does not slow down that much so I do a lot of work on the stock before turning. Thanks for the comment.
Does it have any issues when changing the speed while running ?
You only adjust speed when running. I have not had an issue. Thanks for the comment.
I have had my Harbor Freight lathe for nearly5 years now. Have had a ton of fun with it, but wish I had saved up a few more dollars and bought a better lathe. I have to realign the head and tail stock every time I use my lathe and the little lock down screws on the tool post and tail stock have stripped out and they do not sell replacements.
Need 2 pairs of the pulleys for my lathe same as yours only older
my son and I have this same lathe, and have been very happy with it. we also purchased the PSI 4 jaw chuck, and bought both traditional gouges as well as a couple carbide cutters. This may not have all of the features some lathes have, but for us, it has been a great way to spend time together and for me to teach my son a lot. we plan to get the PSI pen mandrel set soon, so we can turn the handles for their crochet hook set, that we want to give my wife for her next birthday.
Why did you stop posting videos?
Will this pick up cement dust from waterproofing basement?
Nice video..i will use the second inlet of the machine with a 2 in hose just to vacuum dust spots of my garage..
Thanks for sharing this I'm thinking of getting one does it come with anything or just the lathe
question about how you got the original tail-stock out? mine has a cup center and the rod just pushes that out and the tail-stock chuck seams to be stuck. did you have this problem and if so how did you solve it?
Looks good.
I convertered mine to a Tread mill motor ,,,,GREAT converson
I have a DC treadmill motor and am considering buying the HF 12x36 wood lathe. would you consider sharing your experience/learnings on doing this conversion? Maybe share the source of your info if there is one. thank.
Best review I've seen so far. Thank you!
What if your motor makes a noise when u turn it on
Great music to start the vid💪 Thanks for the review, I’m looking to purchase this lathe.
Jake, I have same lathe, and have no problems. I want to put a handwheel on mine, i think the thread size is LH 1/2IN 13TPI, do you have any ideas about making a wheel?
Debating on getting, glad to see this works with lengths of tubing. Great video!
Hi There, Just purchased a second hand lathe like same as yours but different badge/colour . Do you know what mortise size i need for the tail stock when ordering different live centres and jacobs chuck thanks
I don’t know the exact size but it is standard nothing weird.
@@heavymetalwoodworking1755 Thanks for you reply
Would you mind telling me what chuck you got for your lathe? I have the exact lathe that you do and really want to get the chuck you have. Thanks in advance for your help.
I got the chuck from Pennstate industries. If you jump on their site they have a few options.
my son and I just got this lathe, we also got the 4 jaw chuck, and a Jacobs chuck. I plan on adding a few more accessories as money becomes available, but so far we are really happy with it's performance.
Here's a tip for sealing up that harbor freight DUST collector. I noticed mine leaks a lot of find dust. I tested it with baby powder to see where the leaks were. Where I ended up fixing it were in these areas: silicone both sides of the rubber gasket that are inside of that plastic outlet that comes off of the blower. Next, I took the small hose section off of the blower and the unit, I put silicone around those areas they clamped that hose back on. Then I silicone around the outside part of the hose. Next, the worst place this thing leaks is around the dust collector bag where it is clamped on. I bought some adhesive rubber seal gasket material from Home Depot. I attach that around the area where the dust collector bag clamps on. So instead of the bag clamping down on metal, it now claims down on a rubber seal which takes care of any leaks. This helped out tremendously. Personally, I just bought a grizzly canister filter, as those FILTER bags get very dirty and are a mess. It's a bit of an upgrade, but it filters down to 1 µm instead of 5 µm. Plus it has a cleaning feature to it it's really helps maintain it.
That grizzly was a direct fit ?? To this unit ?
Asking as I’m getting a Cnc router for my garage and wanna be able to use this instead of a shop vac
nice. i went down to lowes to get the drainage pipe. yours looks a lot like pvc. the one i got is black and corrugated so it's bendy but the price was right. It was in the garden center.
Waiting on the 4 year revieiw.
Well made my first chess set with it last week and still runs like a charm. I will get a 5 year up at some point. Just a great investment.
How has it held up?
Great thanks for the comment.
how is the depth adjustment nob stop it if you can still turn the wheel on the right?
I've had a HF 34706 for a over nine years. On average I'll turn 10-12 candle lights and vases, 8-10 bowls, and 5-6 desk/table lamps (minimum) every month with it. I've found it to be reliable, easy to use, and mechanically sound IF you take care of it. At 3/4 HP it is somewhat underpowered for a lathe its size so don't try and overload it. I've turned 10"(D) x 18"(L) logs of wood on it but I've made sure they were balanced enough to take strain off the motor. When advancing the speed-control handle do it gradually so as allow the belt-drive system to ease up to speed. And make sure you do so likewise every time you want to shut off the lathe; ease the control handle back to its lowest setting. I use a large Wood River chuck and the 34706 handles it without problem. My 4"-6"-8" faceplates are no problem either. I've added other 1"x 8TPI and MT#2 accessories and they've made the 34706 even more versatile in what I can do. I took advantage of the stand's ability to install a shelf below the lathe bed; on the shelf I have 300-lbs. of sandbags that anchor the lathe solidly in place and prevent vibration and wandering. For the money there is not a better lathe on the market, in my opinion. I started on a 34706 and have stayed with it despite advanced skills and the ability to buy a more expensive one. It works for me but I take care of it. It will work for you if you take care of it. Regular cleaning, maintenance, lubrication, an overall "easy' approach to using it will go a long way. It's gone nine-plus years for me. (Footnote: a couple of months ago the motor on my 34706 quit---toasted, not-gonna-run-again. I estimated that I had 5,000-hours on it so that's not bad at all. For $150 I received a new motor and mounting parts from Harbor Freight and was back turning. My 34706 lathe is doing as well as ever as we enter into our tenth year.) Show less
Thanks for taking the time to review. You answered a lot of questions for me!
Glad I could help. Thanks!
Also want to ask about "static electricity grounding". Is it needed and did you install any? I've seen videos on this but never attempted it in the past.
I did not ground mine. It is probly a good idea though.
Just hooked mine up today! A few missing screws so a trip to hardware store and it's running. One thing not documented is purpose of the "Y" intake ports (2). Why 2 of them? And is the one not in use to be capped or left open? (Manual doesn't even know they exist!). Thanks for posting this! I've watched it twice now!
If both are not being used definitely leave the cap on the one end. Thanks for the comment.
Just seeing this now & sssooo GREATFUL! JUST STARTING OUT for real and this is so helpful! Thank you for being so down to earth & straight forward!
nice job well done I will let you know how I make out when I try it!
I’m hoping for some one to post there go at it. I had fun making it.
