Thanks! I will be preparing for belt tests next months and will be definitely using your videos I used to do tkd during childhood and now I'm starting from the white belt anew. My coach says I can skip a few belts each time, so many teguyks to learn for each test
I hope it helps. many students underestimate the value of forms study. I hope you don't. good luck as you progress through the ranks
Thank you from South Africa. I always wondered how the low back spin was performed.
you are welcome. Im glad i could help
Very good, sir!
F = m a; P = F v; E(kin)=(m v^2)/2. I couldn't find any reasonable m a^2 for this context. Fixing the common misconception about force: the mass is of the object being moved, and the acceleration is that the force communicates to the object. So in the context of hitting/punching/kicking it's not the mass or acceleration of an attacker, nor his limbs, it's the mass of opponent and the acceleration given to that mass of opponent, given by the strike.
maybe I'm wrong, but I've always looked at it as You are the mass that is moving the way you transfer the weight (either forwards or backwards) pushes a larger or smaller percentage of your weight or mass behind your strike. This is why a rear leg/hand strike hits harder than a lead strike.
I don't understand and don't believe the reaction force. Nothing negative here just don't believe this one aspect of power. It would be wonderful to understand the training to develop the force. One school I went to believed force was primarily about repetition.
Reaction Force is generated with the rechamber of the strike. I assume you pull your hand/foot back when striking and you are automatically creating this shockwave of energy. It can be tested by having someone hit your shoulder with a medium impact hammerfist strike (think low block to the shoulder) first time leave the fist on the point of impact. the second time recoil off of the target, you will feel a sharper impact the second time. This is reaction force
I've been doing the striking arts for a lifetime. One thing that I totally disagree with is the massive repetitive use of the hikite position with the non-striking hand. It teaches a bad habit and should go to a position that is guarding the head from strikes. The pulling hand technique can be taught on its own.
I've been to schools where one step sparrings are required at each belt test. They are not all realistic however, it is not a bad thing to learn and teach. The drills teach timing and distance, gives promotion to implimenting self defense tactics, builds reflex and muscle memory, discipline, and control. In addition to this it allows practitioners time to practic various punching and striking techniques they no longer apply due to sport / sparring rules and restrictions. Nowadays some schools have replaced the one steps with "sport/kicking drills" which does the same thing however, some of the kicking drills are unrealistic in a self defense senero and requires good space and timing to apply. I one steps are good, no matter how others may feel about them because I've seen the consequences of them being removed from a schools curriculum. Application, techniques, timing, distance, and discipline in learning techniques have suffered. I can speak from experience as far as being able to apply the techniques. No, not all fighting seneros are going to start off with a partner droping to a foward stance, giving a signal, and wait for you to reply for them to attack. Thats not realistic. However, the if you're in a position to grab and throw your opponent to the ground and punch them or immobilize them implementing a few moves based off of a few of the one step techniques then its not bad to learn. As you become more proficient in the one step, you can remove the flashy stuff and become more direct and proficient in your attacks and create more opportunities for you to escape. (Remember self defense is not the same as sparring or fighting).
@@samjackson6066 couldn't agree more.
Fine students and teachers. My only issue is the block then strike, that doesn't happen in real life. I get the one attack (one step) but the students should get used to block and strike at the same time, the sooner you go offensive the better. As soon as you block a strike another one is coming, so only in class can you block then strike.
@@CanadaFree-ce9jn these down are beginner rank 1 steps. I agree with you. But these formal drills are designed to teach specific skills. The timing drills are practiced later
if you strike with the heel this way you are hitting with the part of the calcanus that the achilles tendon connects to it 5:37

please show which part of the heel to hit with to protect the achilles
@@slingshotshooter7536 should be striking with the back of the heel if hitting solid surface. Board or skull. You can also slap with the bottom of your foot to get more reach and it's safer for the guy who's smelling your foot. I will be releasing a training video for developing the heel soon
@@MasterBrentMessmer yes the heel but i am asking which part of the heel because it is possible to hit with the part of the heel that the achilles attaches to the calcanus which part of the hit should you hit hook kicks with to protect your achilles from damage

@@MasterBrentMessmer I can assure you that you could practice that for a year and unless the other guy just doesn't move...it's not gonna work. Even someone slightly resisting would be too much for this to work.
Idk tkd taught how to pull guard
depends on the taekwondo. Not the sport
As in you use the roll against the opponent
What do you have for forward roll offense attacks?
honestly, i havent played with it much. I feel safer or at least more confident in advancing/ retreating in a gaurd position. You could roll into or out of range but I'm not sure if it makes sense. I'll play with it and see what makes sense
@@MasterBrentMessmer This is Brent, and I am glad people are treating art as art. With putting in the time to do the grind, to receive the find. Art has many fine little adjustments, but minimal risk per technique, would have been like Kempo 5.0 and Self-Defense Hap Ki Do that changes through the years. Because martial science is risk adverse.
From a Hapkido/Jujitsu/Judo perspective, I would not advise rolling towards someone with an offensive attack. Master Messmer has the right idea to focus all efforts on creating space and (safely) getting up as quickly as possible. All good stuff, sir! Those knees on gravel/concrete part, yes! 💯 People don't realize how debilitating a small rock can be under your knee. Good work on avoiding knees on the ground!

In the world of battle is best to always change up in switch it is good to see that the two most obvious weaknesses are being taken advantage of the ability to see and the ability to stand what needs to be done from the WTF since is to be more like ITF as in terms of everything put together as it should be in the world of fighting everything must be the same from the way you see the way you hear from the way you attack the way you defend from the way you use a Punch Kick a block to the way you use a weapon it must all be the same with the soul intent of one thing to go out there not waste time on self looking at this way or that way but to read the enemy wait for the right opportunity exploit the obvious weaknesses stay on the attack take advantage and have the next move ready to achieve only Victory and that is all into complete any task when given in a breaking contest as well the sole goal to use the palm The Ball of an elbow to heel the hardest parts and to realize that there's no difference in this way or that way a sidekick or straight kick back kick the same technique same thing with a with a round kick a heel kick or snap kick the point is to use the shin the waist and to always push when using the push kicks the shin and the waist and calf heel for the shin kicks it's all about keeping your cool not showing any emotions this is not silly boxing or silly wrestling or ridiculous cage fighting but the art of fighting and it should be just that the definitive of style class refinement with a destructive purpose and the sole intent of being the very best to succeed in a calm cool efficient manner always not afraid to die because there is no fear to live enjoy striking from every position being always at the ready at all times

Not a taekwondoka, but one of da suggestions I'd make 4 da next era would b "10 pt must system," assuming it's round based... Obviously, da round winner should b who did better with their striking and da round loser gets 9 or less depending on how THEY did. But dat's just my two cents! I've watched some matches on TV an' da internet... yeah.
They recently switched to who gets the most points in the round wins the round. So similar to what you're saying but not the same as boxing or mma
I understand what you are saying but that about this is different or better than soviet style outside jab angles? It just seems like a less effective version of soviet style angle footwork. I teach boxing and the punch you are saying “boxers dont like” is literally the fundamental jab work we begin with…I am just confused how this is different or better for TWD over just learning to incorporate cuban/soviet style boxing/footwork into your TWD?
Not being familiar with Soviet boxing, i dont know. Jacob was comparing his method with American boxing and how we can integrate TKD with better punching skills
@@MasterBrentMessmer oh, its literally Soviet Style footwork and punches. Almost identical
