    This might help other troubleshooters: The flame on my Mini Mo was erratically slipping out the sides and melting the sleeve, burning inefficiently. I snipped the filter as suggested and still no luck. I used an air compressor and blasted the little perforated top element a few times (with the stove OFF) and now she’s running good again.

    I hate to be this guy but....Your mask fogs because, during the manufacturing process, the lenses get coated with a thin layer of silicone. The anti-fog isn't working because it binds to the silicone layer, not the glass. Rubbing your finger on the glass with force removes the silicone layer. Some people burn it off (not recommended on modern silicone masks), some use commercial lens scrubs, and some use toothpaste. It's all doing the same thing, removing the silicone layer. There are many videos available about this. It has nothing to do with the "micro fissures of the glass."

    Good vid, Thanks! But I prefer to spray with Windex. Allows you to check sections one at a time. I also use eyeliner to mark around the hole (dots/lines, not a circle for me), since a Sharpie/related or other pen often won't mark when the pad is wet with water and/or windex. Unless you yourself use eyeliner, ask before doing this with a friend/partner's eyeliner... It can be expensive! The cheap stuff works fine here though. Note that eyeliner is more permanent on the pad than Sharpie in this contex, although it will eventually wear off. But it works amazing to mark the wet pad! Do mark as small a spot as possible, but not within where you wan to do the repair. Eyeliner is usually oil based, so some repair glue won't stick to it. Cheers!

    • @outdoorgearrepair9187
      @outdoorgearrepair9187 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! I’ve done it before. What I did fort the repair is seam grip it, clamp it down with foam and rulers and then when it dries, I’ve sewn the edge with a sewing machine and added extra sealant over the threads. Works well.

  • @JediStockTrader
    @JediStockTrader 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What would you recomend for leaks around the seams on the sides...where the stitching is heat sealed?

    • @outdoorgearrepair9187
      @outdoorgearrepair9187 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would go for gear aid seam grip if you’re patching a smaller area. If you’re doing the entire circumference, “Lexel” by sashco diluted to 50% would be the next best bet. When using mineral spirits to dilute, be sure to use the classic formula low odor and not the “green” better for the environment version. The latter does not chemically react well with the adhesive.

    • @outdoorgearrepair9187
      @outdoorgearrepair9187 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In addition, I have recently run the seam of the pad through a sewing machine and then glued over the stitched seam. This prevents the seam from coming apart again. Worked well.

  • @leonpalnau6839
    @leonpalnau6839 ปีที่แล้ว

    That looks just like the insides of the autoshutoff valve on my RO system. What this does is that if the pressure on one side of the rubber piece exceeds the part in the feed side, it shuts off the flow. I would guess in this case it would also prevent a flashback of gas from getting back to the canister. I haven't tried taking one apart myself, but my guess is that there is actually a clog somewhere past that part and because the pressure is getting too high on the burner side, it is shutting off the gas by pressing on the membrane. If my suspicion is correct, I wouldn't recommend modding the springs as this is increasing the max pressure in the stove end which could become a problem if the clog let's go down the road.

    When I tried this, the shock cord was too tight. So when you went to fold up the poles, the last few wont fold. Since the elasticity is worn out, the cord doesn't stretch at each fold. You end up fighting between having enough slack to fold it up but tight enough to hold it together when extended.

    • @outdoorgearrepair9187
      @outdoorgearrepair9187 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yikers! That’s some worn out cord! I have an xterm and xlite both have the same valve and use the same pump sack. I agree the sack is hard to put on, much harder than my nemo pad. I don't think it's necessary to shave away at the pump sack connection, I found it helps to squeeze the sides of the pump sack connector and it pops out. You can also use a "flextailgear" usb recharable mini air pump from amazon, it's light weight and game changer. It can pump up the pad and deflate it. It's heavier to carry 2 pump sacks.
